I bought a pump like that a while back, and it only takes me about 5 minutes to fill a 13ci tank. I think the use-case is for at home use of guns when you don't have easily accessible HPA. For example, I have to drive at least 30 minutes to fill my tanks. This allows me to fill my tanks at home when I just want to fire off a few rounds or test an upgrade.
I'd say only get it as a last resort. Basically any field will have free* hpa, so it's mostly a novelty thing. Using it to play in remote locations will result in you spending more time pumping than playing (unless you're playing mag fed/first strikes).
You would save money compared to buying co2 for home testing purposes. As said it would not be feasible to use this at a real game where there is likely an hpa tank. But For home use it would get the job done.
Would be great for airsoft since you end up using significantly less per shot, and allows you fill up before hand, or at an event as most airsoft places dont have fill tanks.
*Your local Fire Station can fill regular scuba tanks, or your paintball tank for about 5 dollars.* *This air pump costs about the same as a scuba tank with a fill station adapter, both are solid choices!*

2+years late to watch it, but to awsner your question Alex, some things may have already been commented but right now not much of it is really showing up on top for me Yes I have one if these that goes up to 3000 psi I am using an 48ci steeltanks (nothing fancy) It takes me about 5 minutes to get halfway, which is ok (I'll note something about that later Since it's basically an excersise, you can get a hold on the soreness (if can, and will do it right) But I can see why most people just wanna hook it up to a filling station or scuba tank Now that you've got the awnser to your question, imma mention some point(s) based on the footage in the video (may be mistaken because of angles and sped up footage) You're supposed to push all the way through, and pull all the way up, and wait a minimum of 1 whole second at both ends of those respectively This makes it somewhat heavier because that way you're actually pushing the full volume if the pumping rod. But what you did now this 40+ minutes is mostly struggle with yourself at whatever psi was on the meter at that time while little air was barely given a chance to go in the tank And you're supposed to take pauses to prevent it from overheating, now it differs with the quality of the pump, but 40+ min doesn't sound good for the seals and overall longetivity of the pump (So I avoid having to pump it more than 5 minutes between games, which works for me) So I wouldn't recommend this to just anyone as it is still hard work. But you should not judge the process on a flawed representation I am planning on getting a version that is capable to fill 4500 psi tanks when I get one
Even if it's a massive pain in the ass, being able to fill tanks for free for test firing at home or pump outlaw ball or whatever sounds pretty great. Like, even with all the force required, that almost sounds too good to be true and I never would have thought something like this would exist
Situation in which it is useful: training. Work out your muscles, then get in a little paintball training on top. Rinse and repeat. Show up on game day looking like Arnold Schwarzenegger.
cant wait to get one of these for my cabin. endless fun for the weekend with some manual labor but who cares its worth it, rather than dropping hundreds on a legit compressor
As other people have said it’s perfect for 13ci the version I had took roughly 5 minutes to fill to 3400 which after cooling down was equal to 3k. Perfect for teching Parker’s at home that have small leaks or need a quick tune or to test guns for sale. You can fill a 4500 with them my 72 ci took over 2 hours but was pumping off and on.
man, from what I can see, you did not use the full capacity of the pump. This is why it took you so long. Before doing something, just read/learn how to do it. When lifting the handle all the way up, you are taking in more air to compress/pass to the gun, so it takes way less time to fill the tank.
Hey I used one of these to pump up a few hpa when trying to start a small club in my town here in new Zealand. It tool a bit of effort but it was well worth the effort. And I was pumping up 10 hpa in varying sizes from 13ci to 48ci and luckily for me they were only 3000psi tanks . now we play on a regular basis with 10 members. And I now use a welders oxygen tank with a filler that I got made up
he's just a skinny meth tweaker that weighs like 120lbs he can't put any weight into the pump, i'm not surprised he stopped at 2200 psi lol. i pump mine up to 3600 PSI and it takes less than ten minutes.

Wish the video had a timer for how long you pumped so we can see an actual fixed time. I do a lot of biking, both mountain and road, and it seemed like a 13ci would take about the same amount of time to fully pump a bike tire with a smaller capacity floor pump. Secondly how much do they cost? If they're priced appropriately then it'd be a good exercise with a side benefit! :P
Theres better pumps. The volume of air per stroke seems to be pretty small for that pump brand. Theres ones that will charge that 13 in like 10 to 15 minutes, I'm not physically exhausted after but I can see how certain people could complain about physical activity. It's always good to have one of those if you dont have air and your at a rural field. If you forgot to get refilled and you just drove an hour to play and paid to get in then it's good for emergency situations.
I have and use a pump like this for airsoft. For that use-case, It works well because it uses less air than in paintball and I can just fill up tanks at my leisure at home. I can just do 50 pumps here or there or do it while doing mindless tasks like watching a movie. Then my tanks are ready to go for game day.
I still think it's worth it, tbh. I only really shoot my marker at the field, but when something new comes in the mail for my marker that i wanna try, i don't want to drive 1 1/2 hrs there and back to the field. Edit: my field is also only open on Saturday and Sunday.

I have one like this. It's perfect for being able to test and tech markers at home, especially with some of the projects I work on that end up with a problem and just vent air for a bit.
If the resistance increases with pressure, I would think a larger tank at a lower psi would be more worthwhile if you just want a certain number of shots.
We use a Yong Heng compressor that we bought a year ago, although we use it how it's not supposed to be used, we'll fill to about 3500 to 4000 psi, six bottles 68/4500 about every weekend.
i used one of these all the time and the only problem ive had is having to wait for it to cool down and not over heat the rubber o-rings, these are only awkard to use if like myself you dont weigh much but even then these are worth the money because it aint that hard to pump it up, makes me wonder how people can run about with all there gear on but cant use a pump, these are worth the cash and ill be buying another one soon ;D
I have one like that ~ but i is made in Japan. Cost is 160.00. And it has a 6000 psi. max. it pumps up a tank in 5 to 6 pumps 🖐🤗every pump is 750 psi or so. it beats 1500.00 on a decent electric compressor by far in cost. But its really all about what u pay for in any thing that you buy. same goes for this manual one. mine is oil filled. Even the pressure gauge is oij filled🤗👌💜
Maybe (big maybe) you could have one of these on the field for large scenario games for those who are low on air that don't want to walk back to the fill station. But otherwise it looks good for home usage with marker testing.
I have it. To me, it's awesome. I have a shell ejecting APM50 from APS and I charge the shells with it. You can even load rechargeable CO2 capsules with compressed air (dangerous tip : when done with the first compression, put them in the freezer for 6 hours at minus 18° Celsius -minus 40° C is the BEST- and pump more air inside.CO2 capsules can withstand up to 400 bar). That's probably the best thing to do with that pump, small containers, that's it. It does take a while but it's worth the exercise, I mean, you can save on the gym. 😅
i just use it at home and in my van because im not paying like 30 f**king bucks to get my tank filled, on top of the entry fee, etc. etc. it kinda sucks, but when you fill it up at home, then put the tanks in your trunk not attached to the marker, before driving out which gives you some time to regain energy (especially if you grab something to eat that morning) then its kinda worth it? if you find one for like 15 bucks or something. then go get it but not for like 30-40 dollars.
Colton Jobst I definitely suggest using it for small tanks. We double teamed a 68/4500 for an hour and got it to like 1500. Still not a bad option for small stuff if you have nothing else.
Can be used to fill PCP air guns tube guns, bottle guns not so much. PCP shooters only shoot down to 1000psi then refill from there. so works well for some guns.

I actually like Spyders. I have an old Spyder TL (highly upgraded) but i still use it, and it rips. AKA tornado valve, AKA lightning bolt, Palmers stabilizer, Shocktech volumizer, titanium striker, CP barrel....the list goes on.
First of, great video! But, you need to hold your feet firmer on the foot supports in order to not alow to pump to dangle from one side tot the other when you pump. Also you need to do the full stroke up down all the way, and not do it in a hurry but rather apply more force on pushing down. It is a very efficient pump if used properly.
I have one I use on my air rifles, it fills their 30 Ci tubes to 3000psi in about 15 minutes with a short break. Never tried it on my paintball tanks though.
Closest place to fill a tank is 30 minutes away and I do a lot of modding and custom work on my markers so this would actually be useful for leak tests and chronoing. Not as convenient as a scuba tank, but definitely a lot cheaper
I bought one ,and I pumped it for like 20 pumps and gave up and bought an electric pump. I figured it would be alot cheaper to go electric than pay my medical bill! But it is definitely a nice addition to my collection of stuff I've spent money on and never used.
I have one! Yes I like it for my cottage. Yes it is 💯% of my morning workout when I’m up there, and yes I have to let it cool down MULTIPLE times to fill my 45ci. ... I can’t say I’m unhappy with it in all honesty.
As someone that doesn't have the money for an air compressor, I think I'll buy one of these. I have two makers that I really wanna fix, but I can't because I don't have air. Yes, it's gonna take effort to fill my tanks, but it'll be worth it so I can maintain my markers more often and if one goes down I can fix it.
These are made for air rifles and they work very well but those internal tanks have much smaller air volume so you can fill them in about 1 min. a 68/45 would take a solid couple of hours.
I say on a plot of land so no close refiles, this would help a lot, but for regular play it sound like a lot of work, but i would 100% buy one if the price was right.
These are better suited to their original purpose which was to fill pcp air rifles but as a quick way to get some air for teching they have their uses in paintball sure.

I have a 4 stage hand pump for my deep woods hunting cabin, where i keep my PCP larger bore hunting riffles.... .357, .45 and .50 as backups. I also have a compressor, but you can't exactly take a compressor out into the woodlands on foot as a backup. There is a huge difference between a 3 stage hand pump and a 4 stage, tho lol. You have figured out what that difference is by good Ole trial and ERROR 🤣🤣 GET A 4 STAGE, YOU ARE DONE in a few minutes with a lot less work. Wouldn't do it for any of my markers, tho. I just use my compressor
Should be a valve to close before starting to pump. I would assume you knew that, or else you would be leaking as you are pumping. Seems strange that people say 5 min to 3500 and it took you 20 min to get to 2200, as you said. Would be curious to very that. TY
I have one of these. Tried to fill my 68/45 to a full 4500. Nuh-uh. Not gonna happen. Pumped for 3 hours and got close to 2k. And the higher the pressure, the harder it gets to pump. Haven't used it since. I don't think it necessarily sucks, but using it sure does.
its ok , since I live in heavy urban area , not many place to shoot beside back yard , for me its pretty good since I only have 1 tank anyway ( for SIG Sauer MCX )
I got this one hand pump but my handpump is stage 4. im using for my 2 tank's 62ci 😂 2,800 psi it's to hard to push down. But im still using because exercise to 😅...

I have a Hill pump, one of the best pcp pumps out there. Ten pumps puts 100 psi, so it takes me about 300 pumps to fill my 13 ci tank to 3000 psi. I work out a lot so it is not difficult for me to fill my tanks. It is a good upper body work out! LOL. For a very skinny person this could be very difficult.
It was designed for Air rifles which have much smaler tank and use much less Air per shot. With them i nead to make only about 70-90 pumpa to gett it up to 300bar. Which is good for around 150-180 pellets. So it is worth it
It sucks, but if you have no other options (read paintball at home and on a budget), it works. That said, best option for home paintball is to just fill your tank at the field. Other option is to buy a pony tank to keep at the house, but that’s serious cheddar.

This would only be good for home use when one is testing a current marker that's been repaired! Cause truthfully you wont always have the chance to get out to a field and have a tank refilled
I don't mind pumping HPA hand pump. You need to use your legs instead of arm. Much easier. And it's good exercise too! Just pump up HPA tank when you need some exercise and put it away. If you can have several tanks prepared, there is no need to refill during game play.

Probably good for home use to throw a little air in your tank to test your markers after maintenance or fixing something. Make sure no air leaks, etc.
Also if u want to play that isn't a park. Like an abandon malls or stuff. I can see worse ways to get air.

A little bit of exercise never hurts anyone. I got one of these pumps and it has saved me a great deal of money. Plus it's a great workout!!!

they are between 130 and 200$$$$$ it depends on the model

They are good for pcp airguns,but there is a technique to pumping properly that makes a difference but over all give me a power pump anyday

In a time like right now, I'd dedicate 20 mins a day for a week just to be able to play with my paintball marker in the backyard

I like to go camping with a hommie in the middle of nowhere and play, this would actually be useful as funk for that.

Hey can you do a does it suck on the spyder fenix? I've heard some really bad stuff about that gun but for the price it doesnt seem too bad.
I actually like Spyders. I have an old Spyder TL (highly upgraded) but i still use it, and it rips. AKA tornado valve, AKA lightning bolt, Palmers stabilizer, Shocktech volumizer, titanium striker, CP barrel....the list goes on.
First of, great video! But, you need to hold your feet firmer on the foot supports in order to not alow to pump to dangle from one side tot the other when you pump. Also you need to do the full stroke up down all the way, and not do it in a hurry but rather apply more force on pushing down. It is a very efficient pump if used properly.
For self defense, I'm watching your video as I'm opening my new hand pump for my M17 that shoots Devastor rounds.
I use the hand pump to work out.
You have to stop at the bottom letting it bottom out. Your stopping early which is letting less air in the tank with each pump
I have one I use on my air rifles, it fills their 30 Ci tubes to 3000psi in about 15 minutes with a short break. Never tried it on my paintball tanks though.
Closest place to fill a tank is 30 minutes away and I do a lot of modding and custom work on my markers so this would actually be useful for leak tests and chronoing. Not as convenient as a scuba tank, but definitely a lot cheaper
I bought one ,and I pumped it for like 20 pumps and gave up and bought an electric pump. I figured it would be alot cheaper to go electric than pay my medical bill! But it is definitely a nice addition to my collection of stuff I've spent money on and never used.

Nah that's what it's most useful for but these actually started as a way to fill pcp air rifles.
The one I bought was $50. You should be able to find them for about that price from various companies on Amazon.

I have one! Yes I like it for my cottage. Yes it is 💯% of my morning workout when I’m up there, and yes I have to let it cool down MULTIPLE times to fill my 45ci. ... I can’t say I’m unhappy with it in all honesty.
As someone that doesn't have the money for an air compressor, I think I'll buy one of these. I have two makers that I really wanna fix, but I can't because I don't have air. Yes, it's gonna take effort to fill my tanks, but it'll be worth it so I can maintain my markers more often and if one goes down I can fix it.
These are made for air rifles and they work very well but those internal tanks have much smaller air volume so you can fill them in about 1 min. a 68/45 would take a solid couple of hours.
It would not be to hard to redesign and add a electric motor.
Could you adapt that to a regular tire? one or two pumps and it'd be full🤔

I say on a plot of land so no close refiles, this would help a lot, but for regular play it sound like a lot of work, but i would 100% buy one if the price was right.

These are better suited to their original purpose which was to fill pcp air rifles but as a quick way to get some air for teching they have their uses in paintball sure.

I have a 4 stage hand pump for my deep woods hunting cabin, where i keep my PCP larger bore hunting riffles.... .357, .45 and .50 as backups.
I also have a compressor, but you can't exactly take a compressor out into the woodlands on foot as a backup. There is a huge difference between a 3 stage hand pump and a 4 stage, tho lol. You have figured out what that difference is by good Ole trial and ERROR 🤣🤣 GET A 4 STAGE, YOU ARE DONE in a few minutes with a lot less work. Wouldn't do it for any of my markers, tho. I just use my compressor

Should be a valve to close before starting to pump. I would assume you knew that, or else you would be leaking as you are pumping. Seems strange that people say 5 min to 3500 and it took you 20 min to get to 2200, as you said. Would be curious to very that. TY
I have one of these. Tried to fill my 68/45 to a full 4500. Nuh-uh. Not gonna happen. Pumped for 3 hours and got close to 2k. And the higher the pressure, the harder it gets to pump. Haven't used it since. I don't think it necessarily sucks, but using it sure does.
I'd buy it just cause there are no places near me that can fill my tanks. Just wondering how much it is to buy one.
I wonder if it's someway to hook the pumping action to a bike and make it less labor intensive.
its ok , since I live in heavy urban area , not many place to shoot beside back yard , for me its pretty good since I only have 1 tank anyway ( for SIG Sauer MCX )
I got this one hand pump but my handpump is stage 4. im using for my 2 tank's 62ci 😂 2,800 psi it's to hard to push down. But im still using because exercise to 😅...
I have a Hill pump, one of the best pcp pumps out there. Ten pumps puts 100 psi, so it takes me about 300 pumps to fill my 13 ci tank to 3000 psi. I work out a lot so it is not difficult for me to fill my tanks. It is a good upper body work out! LOL. For a very skinny person this could be very difficult.
It was designed for Air rifles which have much smaler tank and use much less Air per shot. With them i nead to make only about 70-90 pumpa to gett it up to 300bar. Which is good for around 150-180 pellets. So it is worth it
It sucks, but if you have no other options (read paintball at home and on a budget), it works. That said, best option for home paintball is to just fill your tank at the field. Other option is to buy a pony tank to keep at the house, but that’s serious cheddar.

This would only be good for home use when one is testing a current marker that's been repaired! Cause truthfully you wont always have the chance to get out to a field and have a tank refilled

I don't mind pumping HPA hand pump. You need to use your legs instead of arm. Much easier. And it's good exercise too! Just pump up HPA tank when you need some exercise and put it away. If you can have several tanks prepared, there is no need to refill during game play.
