I like both series. While it's true that Dino Crisis 2 no longer focuses on the horror, I think that's a given. Because by the end of the first game, the dinosaurs are no longer a mystery. The main challenge is that they come in huge numbers instead of limited ammo. It has a nice variety of dinosaurs too Wish Capcom would remake the game though, would have been neat
There's much horror in DC2 as in DC1. DC2 is superior. DC1 could have been better. DC2 is horror, survivalism, enigmatic, fun and well planned. DC1 looks like it was made in a hurry and the puzzles there are too much, they all look ambigous. I prefer RE1 over DC1 and DC2 is my favored game over all DC and RE series. It is so good.
@@cf8wuf98w4lu don't forget backtracking. There's a lot of them in DC1. While the puzzles are tiring (looking at you DDK), I think that's what makes the game feels more suspenseful. Because you never know what you may trigger once you complete the puzzle (T-Rex first encounter, Raptor in gas chamber, etc)
@@aryshandono3249 It used to be mysterious when I played it 20 years ago. Recently played both games, DC2 first and DC1 next. DC2 amazed me again. While in DC1 I saw many flaws. I no longer have this shooked the hell out of me feeling which I used to have as a teenager back then. That is why DC1 largerly annoyed me this time. It boils down to personal preference of course, but like I said, it could have been done better. And the roaming dinos which you can't kill because you have no ammo. What a shame. I give DC1 7/10 and DC2 9.5/10 and not 10 because it wasn't longer. On the other side I give GTA SA 9.9/10
You do realize, you are on top of the food chain . You are in the jungle, they are like every other predator! They will hunt relentless. That's why they took another approach on this game
I played the hell out of this game and the original as a kid. I was obsessed with getting it as perfect and getting as many points as possible. I feel if they had the action/attack vibe of the Dino’s from 2 but kept the horror aspect of 1 it would have probably kept the game series alive better/longer. Though the 3rd game worked pretty hard to derail the series and finish it off… I’ve still got my copies of both games in their original cases. I think the first even has a demo disc for resident evil 3 lmao.
From a first class survival Horror trip to an open field Battle with the firepower of a small nation. Very entertaining and the Arena Modus was a nice bonus.
I loved this game. The changes in the game mechanics is a great storyline advancement. It was nice to see characters prepare for what they are up against, after being caught by surprise previously.
This is probably my favorite dinosaur game, period. We desperately need a full remaster of both Dino Crisis 1 and 2. We don't talk about Dino Crisis 3...
it was one of the best games ive played in my childhood. so good that i watches a playthrough last year. its thw perfect dino game setting. reminded to jurassic park.
Used to have Dino Crisis 2 marathons where everyone would take turns playing until the end. I always got an extra turn though because nobody wanted to do the under water section but I had it down to a science lol
It was a good chance (sadly it quickly derailed), the first Dino Crisis is good but dinos acting like zombies on close spaces it feels weird, Dino Crisis 2 on the other hand it's amazing it gives you the feel from the Jurassic Park movie: more dynamic lizards chasing you so more action.
I did. LOVED it! Especially the last part with that laser...whew...that was SOME ending! I still have the OG for both 1 and 2 and will play it again. I heard someone is doing a fan-based remake of 1 and it looks really good
One of my favorite games of all time, it is SO much fun. I beat it countless times, it really is an adrenaline shot. It also has to do with the fact it is extremely short, you can easily speedrun it in less than 2 hours on your third playthrough. To me a much better experience than the first one.
It did not work for me at all- Like Resident evil 3, despite having more action in its game play, still had that element of survival horror. And I love that game to bits. Dino crisis 1 played so much differently; Because in the first playthrough, you were trying to survive against these nigh unstoppable killing machines all throughout the facility. You had limited sources of ammo, which you couldn't make more of. You had healing items that could be made into full health kits or Recessitation kits which give you retries if you get chomped. But these healing items also were necessary for creating tranq darts and even the strongest ones could make poison darts. And once you've beaten it first time you'll begin to unlock weapons you didn't have in the beginning which could enable you to steamroll through the different routes that'd otherwise be impossible on new game. Dino crisis 2 stepped away from all that and went into a more arcade shoot em up style which felt more like a mercenaries mode.
I bought that game and tenchu2 on that time for ps1, and what i could say it was one of the best games ever made in that time, very ahead, with new moves, guns and action.
I loved this game. I don't think the plot or the horror are it's selling points, but you still have to survive. There are so much enemy variety and mechanics that it rewards you for every new playthrough. There are land sections, vehicle sections, underwater sections and even dinosaurs sections in the colosseum. The weapons felt nice and were purposeful. And you could even make the game harder by replaying and facing more tenacious enemies like the blue raptors. The soundtrack is amazing and a it feels good on the controls, deviating a little from the tanky controls. Good graphics for the time too. Though I know it isn't necessary a game for everyone, but that's the catch sometimes.
I played Dino Crisis 2 again tonight for the first time in 24 years and wow it's a lot of fun and I completely understand why I sunk so many hours into this game as a kid lol.
Recently I enjoyed the SourcenextO pc version and it still holds up, good gameplay, good dino music, good action. Bad 25 years without a good sequel or remake.
Great game , great memories, The opening alone is one of the greatest things out there I think. I never played the first one, ill have to give that a try.
I think there were plans of making dinosaurs invading the city for Dino Crisis 3, but they feared it would be tasteless and remind people of 9/11, which could leave negative impact on people at the time 😮
I have beaten this game on PS1 (multiple times) , was one of my favorite games . Bonus mor (unlocked after beating game) is super fun , and you can play it with your friend(shared screen)
Easiest way to think of is is like the way alien or the terminator went from being chased by they unstoppable creature to coming back all guns blazing like aliens or T2
I played this after playing RE1, RE2, RE3. My captivation was far greater than in RE1. DC1 felt afterwards like RE with Dinos and is very difficult if you don't pay attention to everything, you can't move forward. I played all those when I was 13-14. PS1 had some cool games there was also a game called In Cold Blood, and is like Splinter Cell 😀
It was fun to play and the dinosaur variety and animation was cool, but I always wondered how it would have been as something more similar to the original game - 3D settings and true survival horror!
I imagine the gameplay is similar to how the build of RE4 that became Devil May Cry might have played if it had continued being developed as a Resident Evil game
I played it back in the days. I was honestly surprised by the direction change... I recall even to this day the first DC2 encounter, that would make you deal with a high number of raptors, while in the first DC it was a more rare occurrence. Still I remember I enjoyed the sequel as well, just not as much as the first one.
I didn't played the first one and can barely remember the second game. But I do remember that I played through it and I think I liked it back in the days.
I loved this game. I want to buy it again as I lost all my childhood games through a series of unfortunate events. Online copies of DC2 go for $100-$150. Pretty expensive for a ps1 game...
Amazing game! The locations were far more interesting and varied than in the first game, with MANY MORE enemy types and subtypes. The gameplay even featured some twists here and there (the multiple turret sequences, the underwater section where it leans more into the 'horror' aspect by slowing things down; the flare section; you even have a hidden 'dodge' mechanic in the options of the game). The soundtrack was awesome, just like the multiple CGI scenes before big moments, you really enjoy them as a child. Finishing the game unlocked a COLISEUM mode, allowing you to unlock characters to battle waves of enemies, and after gathering enough points, you can unlock a 2-PLAYER DINOSAUR FIGHTING VERSUS MODE. Plug a second joystick and fight with a friend. Come on, man, what more could you want from a game?? I did miss the choices you could make in Dino 1, but overall I really enjoy it and still play it from time to time. Dino Crisis 2 is a much more casual and straightforward experience, without obnoxious puzzles/codes/keys, making it easier to just pick up and play.
I did like this game. But I rather stick with action survival horror then just action like the original game or the original Resident Evil Trilogy and CV:X
My biggest issue with Dino Crisis was the non pre rendered environment (which is to say, it’s not a massively important one). Because of limitations it just went from Resident Evil looking full and decorated to Dino Crisis looking bare and not as good. I never finished the first one, but I did the second and remember enjoying it.
@ thanks, if you notice more franchisees have to do that a first movie/game at slow pace and the sequel has to crank the action up and to end with a horrible 3rd movie. 🤣
Its was fun to play i do like the original alot better nothing better than scary dinosaurs resident evil style
DC 1 was scary cuz it's always night time. Cud never play it. But this one I enjoyed
Remake Dino Crisis

surprisingly great story too
Didn't cover the story in the short but it's pretty wild 🤪

DC2 is a gem. Super fun! I like the return to pre rendered backgrounds.
Shop: Your guns already have 100 shots without need to reload. How much ammo capacity do you want to further increase them?
Dylan/Regina: YES
To be fair these is not zombie they fighting, this is some reptilian creature that used to own the world, so 100 bullets wont be enough xD
It is to me one of The Best Dino Games ever.
The first Dino Crisis was so good at the time
Absolutely loved it! Hope they bring out a remake
I like the original better but 2 was fun.3, though...
I liked the second better... Might be because I played it first
I prefer 2 but i played 1 first saying that both are fantastic
