In 19.5 both your and Adam Swaab's files produce weird results, where the beads are tiny and the ends are stretched. Yours also takes ages to calculate. Any idea why this might happen?
Brilliant work as always, mate. I run into an issue on Houdini 18 where the chain SOP copies my objects to the points but they are so stretched out that they are nearly invisible. Moreover, when I plug the chain into 1 line, it just copies the geo as it pleases and it doesnt take into account the number of points the line has on it. I've tried looking around for a solution but cant see any. Amy thoughts?
Probably too late, but: Under "Alignment" on the chain SOP make sure to deactivate "Orient Using Point Attributes". That will fix the first issue. The number of points on the initial line is only relevant for the hair constraint. So that it bends and deforms nicely. You will have to set up either the length of the initial line or the sizes of the chain geometry to achieve a certain number of pieces on the chain, although that might prove difficult when "Pattern" is set to "Random". "Explicit pattern" will allow you to fully control the distribution pattern. Hope that helps.
Fun question: Is there a chance to solve intersections after the output of the chain SOP? It KIND of works when setting a uniform hair thickness of 0.04. Better ideas on this? :)
thanks for this series Entagma.. im struggling to get karma motion blur to work in this demo.. what am i doing wrong. Tried turning on velocity blur, both in the karma properties node and on the object level geo node.. but no luck.
Hello! thank you so much for the tutorial! by the way what is your system specs. What processor and how many ram? I have an old i7 2600k (3.40 ghz) with 32 gb ram and it is cooking final node is very long(( about 1 minute. Does the Houdini utilize a processor or GPU for this type of calculation? Thank you
Just tried this in Houdini19, I have to connect output 2 of vellumsolver to chain SOP, otherwise the chain won't be generated. But the result is not the same with original curve.
Some people binge watch Netflix, I binge watch Entagma.
I've just been binge-watching your new videos. You really bring the most straight forward information all around!
Can't thank you enough guys!
Impressive how you deliver so much clear informations in no time.
Came for the a quick chain video, learned about stage&karma ! Thnx !
Wow i diddnt know this chain sop 😮. Great addition. Thanks. 🙌 ps: you can pack before going in the chain so it is less expensive withbig curve count
Thanks so much ! Always such a learning experience.
Excellent series guys, thank you for sharing !
thanks a lot for this series!
thank youuuuu entagma

This guy sounds like Bob Ross for Houdini -- except he paints happy little **beads**.

Try deactivating "Orient Using Point Attributes" under "Alignment" on the chain SOP, maybe that helps.
Great tutorial, too bad Karma is still kinda useless right now. Let's hope they make usable with 19.0
