They were actually added in 2018 with version CC 15.1. At the time they were called Master Properties. I'm always shocked at how few users are aware of the feature.
@@JakeInMotion I’m currently working on a project and I’d like to use Essential Properties in a similar way but with a text comp duplicated a few times inside another comp that is within a master comp with the ability to be able to change the text independently of each from the master comp. A tutorial on this would be greatly appreciated.
Dude, You are a rockstar! I am currently researching Motion Design System and I'm blown by this workflow. I could now create components similar to figma and create instances around it with less time. Thanks for sharing the information man.
Crazy the amount of small details I learn from you - I knew essential graphics existed but did think it was just for creating Mograph - so I stayed away. And then boom - I now realize how much time I've lost after all these years. And given the fact that I get all these details from you from time to time - I start to think that I'm missing so much more than expected with AE. I love these surprises - keep'em coming. Thank you
I love essential properties. You can also add animated properties to the essential graphics panel and you'll have access to the keyframes outside the comp. Super useful stuff 👍
Been using Essential props for years now when toolkitting or just building efficient projects. I'm sharing this vid with anyone I know who doesn't use em >.>!
Amazing video sir! I have been using AE for over 10 months now and was not aware with the power of essential graphics and now can't wait to apply in real life projects. Also if I think it in a different way, is it like a parent comp having it's variants just like in Figma? :D
I've been spamming these across so many projects lately. It really allows for some lightning fast client changes, and saves TONS of time with generating variants of things like L3s or Title pages.
can you create a tutorial on how to add a pant pocket to a RubberHose character? Specifically, I'd like to know how to animate a character waving their hand and then putting that hand into their pant pocket.

Im using AE 2022 and I had no idea this panel existed - I still don't think that I have a properties panel though....would be nice to find that one.....
The biggest issue I met with essantial properties are the fact that (at the time I tested them a few years ago) they were not supported by renderfarm softwares... Not sure why exactly, but at the time, deadline didn't want to use them at all...
It's short for Motion Graphics Template and can be loaded in Premiere. All of the properties you add to the essential graphics panel will be editable directly in Premiere.
I hope this is seen by many thousands of people, it's changed my workflow for the last 5 years, not sure what I'd be doing without it
after using AE for 5 years, i am learning something new...wow
I've been using after effects for a few years now and I've never known about this feature, I was legitimately shocked throughout the whole video

It crazy to me to know there are many simple things that make a big difference in my workflow. Really appreciate this series man. @@JakeInMotion

This is so useful! It's like inheritance in programming.

Thanks for the tutorial Jake! This video helped me fully grasp the ''Rubberhose 3 Rig to EGP Workflow'' that you explained in your previous videos.

This is such a time saving feature... Nicely done, Jake! Great job on the video🤘
Ohhh so that’s amazing, this video is gold. Thanks again Jake, made my life easier!!
Amazing! Again!
Thanks, Jake. This just might solve an issue I came upon last week.
super cool, gonna try this in my next project! btw i love how your facecam is just another after effects panel haha
Thanks! It's a new extension from Hyper Brew called Webcam.

jake i’m obsessed with the blue rim light
Shift double click for a perfect circle tho!! Wild
I have avoided EP for too long. It kinda works like geometry nodes. Edit: Fantastic reminder how they work, Jake.
It's pretty crazy how such a useful feature can be overlooked by so many!
This is very helpful! Thank you Jake :)
Insane trick. I commented about that and thanks for the tutorial!

YES
Very helpful, Thank you
Amazing lesson.
Awesome and so helpful! Thank you🙏🏼
Nice shirt jake!
Hi Jake! Great vid! I notice that you have a couple of buttons (box and arrows) next to your values. What are those?
I think I know what you mean. Those allow you to pull values from the source comp, or push current values to the source comp.

Can i add matte, like change pictures from essential graphics
This is so cool !
Thanks Jake, what's that colore swatch layer with grig lines kinda graphic on them?
Those are just 4 rectangle shapes on a single shape layer. I set it to be a guide layer by right clicking and choosing Guide Layer.

The properties panel was added in version 23.4.
@@JakeInMotion Thank you sir, for confirming my suspicion 😁
