I’m no tech guru but I’d have thought the cordless mouse would connect directly via the iPhone’s own Bluetooth capability without the need for the dongle and micro receiver. I have a generic portable keyboard and it connects directly to my iPad via Bluetooth without the need for any dongles or micro receivers.

Very nice upgrades for the iPhone, What's needed is being able to to recording video directly to an external flash drive or hard drive and charged through at the same time ..The Data Traveler Bolt Duo can do this but not charge through at the same time

Tom Barber, Yea my camera adapter didn’t work either, but it worked on my Mac Mini Catalina. The SD card was formatted as “ms/dos fat32” so I erased and re-formatted using the mini Mac to exfat32. still didn’t work. I had read somewhere changing the format to exfat32 was required if 128gb or more but if you did it on your own it wouldn’t work. But if your device prompted you saying it needed to re-format, then it worked on that device and all others that previously did not work. My reader lites up but the phone just sits there. But it also lit up without any additional power hookup on the camera adapter. Tried a 4amp charged hub, still lit up but nothing on the phone.

@@tombarber860 The "Camera Adapter" is just a USB 3 connector - and the description of the item in the link explicitly says it can be used for other peripherals. I'm using mine with a docking station (monitor, keyboard, mouse).
      They just named it stupidly.

Hard Disk Drives should be formatted to ExFat, not FAT32. Fat32 is an archaic format. Only some flash/thumb drives comes in fat32

    • @TaoMStudio
      @TaoMStudio  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Hi, agree with your opinion. But so far, all the flash drives I have purchased are formatted FAT32. I normally reformat them to exFAT or HFS. I have done a video regards on this, please check it out here: th-cam.com/video/6wDa1mhNm-k/w-d-xo.html

    • @kishenwhabi4863

The problem with Fat32 is that it restricts the file size to 4Gb max...

    •  5 ปีที่แล้ว

Tao M Studio I understand that. But because of its limitations, we should prefer ExFat for its cross-platform compatibility and the limitation of fat32 (file size restriction).

Regards on speed, lightning cable is ONLY USB2.0 standard, so won't be fast, but for small files, it is plenty. On type c ipad pro it will be fast. Looking forward to iPhone12 with type c.

I think the only reason why Apple added the proper OTG support to iOS 13 is because of the iPadOS and iPads in general. As iPads now use Type-C, It’s right to assume that people would want to connect things to it, and since iPadOS is just iOS, OTG support on iPhone turned out to be more like a side effect.

Just ran across this older video very good. Do you know that if you connect a Hub, an SD card reader and a external SSD (with separate power supply and ExFAT format) then is it possible to copy photos and videos from the SD reader to the SSD without first having to copy them to the iOS device. I would like to use this as a way of transferring photos and videos to an external disk when traveling, but have limited storage capacity to 1st transfer them to the phone or iPad.

    1. Would the charger of the iPhone, connectetd to the Lightning port of the adapter deliver enough power or you need that power bank?
    2. When filming or registering audio, can you save directly to the external memory or only to the internal one of the iPhone and have to copy it later?
    3. What about the keyboard?

I wished you connected every device directly to the dongle first, to see if the iPhone even supports them at all.
After that, you could have went on trying out that hub. But as it is, the hub itself, plus every other device that you didn't disconnect from it, just sucked up way too much juice.
Would have been nice to know if the iPhone is able to power an external drive for example without power from the outside.

    • @TaoMStudio

would all this apply to current IOS and OS Monterey? I am having trouble making my apple dvd drive peripheral to work with Monterey and also how to use peripherals on iPad pro 2022.

I was waiting to see both wireless mouse and separate wireless keyboard both work via the usb 3.0 hub but of all combinations the most commonly used combo didn’t happen 😆
I’m interested in using my iPhone 7 to remote (with the right software) into my windows desktop when away from home
Would you need the power bank for both a mouse and keyboard to work at the same time? Or just the lightning usb 3.0 adapter is enough on its own with no extra power needed?

Could you try if we could connect the lightning to HDMI and the lightning to USB at the same time? If could, it would be perfect that I could connect my presentation to the projector and I could use the mouse at the same time.

Hi, you can connect Bluetooth mouse to you phone(not apple magic mouse), then get the lightning to HDMI adapter. Hope this helps.
