    This was a scary sight.
    I am afraid to look at my tank.

    You can buy a new fuel strainer if the pump works yet just hook a battery up to it. It's marked pos and neg on the case so you know the polarity.

    So you can get away with just cleaning and replacing pump and running it daily after running seafoam and everything else to try to eliminate rust after pumping old gas out and vaccuming my miata is sitting in the same exact situation and i just wanna know if i can save it without habing ti replace the whole tank it doesnt leak it just foesnt start due to pump and im worried i got some in Injectores and engine last time it ran will i be okay 😢

    I am loving these videos! Amazing job! I just inherited a 92 Mazda Miata that has been sitting in a garage for 13 years. Rats have made a real mess under the hood and chewed through a good bit of the wiring. Other than checking the fuel tank/pump is there anything else I should do before I replace wires and try to get this thing to fire up? Thanks!

    What do you recommend to use when cleaning the gas tank?

      Good question. It would depend how bad it was. Just varnish, sand or heavy rust etc. For an empty tank with loose debris, I would use a shop vac and a tooth brush to dislodge any stubborn deposits.

    What would you suggest cleaning the filter/strainer/sock with?

    How does a Mk1 Miata na get on with E10 fuel??

    • @MiataMan
      @MiataMan  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most stock NA (90-97) Miatas will run fine on 87 octane fuel. As far as I know 87 is E10. It’s not branded as E10 in this neck of the woods though.

      @@MiataMan Performance will suffer. Stick with 98 octane.

    How do you replace the tank, does it come out from the bottom, or the trunk?

    • @MiataMan
      @MiataMan  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      To change the tank, the exhaust and whole rear sub frame has to come off.
      Big job.

      @@MiataMan yikes. When I upgrade my rear diff to a 1.8 ls, I'll take the opportunity to drop it and recoat the inside, as a preventative measure.
