Soul Performance vs. Porsche Exhaust - Porsche 911 991

  • It's exhaust system face-off time! Soul Performance vs. the Stock 991 Porsche exhaust.
    In this video, you'll get to see and hear how incredible the sound of the Soul PP Valved Exhaust system is in comparison to the stock exhaust that comes with the 911 Carrera from the factory. It doesn't change the natural, awesome, sound of the flat-six engine, it amplifies it. For the sports car and driving enthusiasts out there who want the coolest, purest, most refined sounding exhaust notes coming out of their 911 - this exhaust system is definitely worth checking out.
    We'll drive around, we'll do some cold starts, some stationary revs, some launches and accelerating away. You'll get to hear sound inside and outside the cabin, valves opened and closed. This is one of the most fun videos I've made so far. I hope you enjoy it!!
    As ever, thanks so much for watching my videos and supporting my channel. I do all of this because of my passion for cars and interacting with like minded car enthusiasts. Keep the comments and chat coming! More videos coming soon. Cheers!

    Sounds superb no question.....clearly a high quality product and installation.....
    Plus I love the effect that such a simple thing as “noise” turns us grown men into dribbling toddlers 😂
    That’s a large investment however and whilst I’m chuffed you love the outcome, I got a similar feeling from a humble gundo hack on my old 997 C4s which I had done a few months back...... fantastic budget alternative to installing full replacement systems. Keep up the enthusiasm..... we Porker fan boys like this kinda nonsense 👍

    To me, with the valves “closed” they seem to open at a point in the rev range whereas with the valves “open” they’re open all the time. And I must say that comparison was legitimately the best I’ve ever seen.

    • @AutoAmateur
      @AutoAmateur  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Lloyd! Appreciate the kind feedback! You're right, with the valves set to closed, the 911 opens them up automatically once you hit 3k RMP and they close automatically again once you get below 3k RMP. With the PSE button on, they're just open all the time.

    • @williamjackson5357

      I agree 💯, your comparison of the open and closed valves were the best I have ever heard. Now that I have actually heard the differences, I am going to have my local independent Porsche shop install The Soul Performance Exhaust on my 2014 Cayman Base 🏎

    Damn you, Damn you Damn you!!!! I have a 2018 911 Turbo. I inquired about an exhaust months ago with Soul. I didn't do anything because I wanted to stop spending money on this car. John called me from Soul and we had a nice chat and I asked questions. I put it out of my mind for months deciding that I don't need this. Then your videos come out on this exhaust. The sound was incredible and what really got me was the smile on your face (and the smile on the hot girl's face on their website that is featured). It must be an incredible exhaust to make you so happy. I want to be happy like you and the hot girl on the website as I am so empty inside. Because of YOU I called them again and they were so cool. I then called my Porsche Shop (Sleeper's Speed Shop) and they quoted me a really low rate to install. I called John back and they set them up as a dealer and they will now sell their exhausts and the first one they will sell and install is mine. Damn you Damn you Damn you.

      He makes some top quality vids and your exhaust sounds so good and deep on that 991 damn!!... I am seriously considering SOUL for my Cayman S 987.1... Every clip I've heard of it though from boost bros to supercars of philly almost seems to make the pitch higher on the .1's almost F1 like instead of deeper as it does on the .2's and the 911's??... Is that my ears playing tricks on me or is that the nature of the exhaust on the .1's? ...

I’ve been fearful of making such a costly decision with my 997. Our present cars are indeed worlds apart but the flame has reignited for an exhaust. Are you planning on DIY’ing the gauge face swap? If so, I am definitely interested in that video. Take care friend.

      We designed our Boxster / Cayman exhaust systems around reducing drone as much as possible! We know that a good amount of people will add headers as well and the rear exhaust should support the rest of your mods as it is your primary device to attenuate sound. The Borla is an aggressive rear exhaust and does sound good but it lacks the drone fighting provisions. I’m curious if you have the V1 or V2? And is there any drone at all with the valves open or closed? I’m thinking about putting this on my 991.1 c2. The thing that is most disappointing about my non PSE is there are no crackles or pops. Even my Macan S that also doesn’t have PSE crackles and pops.

    Love the exhaust... Sound change hits you in the Soul!!!
    I'm considering this exhaust with the headers, Street Package, for optimal performance.
    Just one question, as your vehicle did not initially have PSE (as mine is nonPSE as well), your Porsche dealer installed the Factory PSE button including all the wiring as well as the exhaust for $1500? Or did you have to supply them with the wiring and other parts for the Factory PSE button placement?
    I ask this as I was just informed by Soul Performance that they can install the PSE option using the Garage Door Control buttons on the overhead panel.
    I prefer the button on the lower console as you have done. I just wanted to know if you had that option.
    Your Videos are enjoyed!!!

    Nice one James, sounds superb without being too OTT. Apologies for the boring (am I your dad) question, but how does the mod effect the warranty?

    • @AutoAmateur
      @AutoAmateur  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question! I actually don’t know. My car is no longer under warranty so I didn’t worry about that. My guess is that it could void the warranty on your exhaust but not the rest of your car. Best to ask Porsche though of course.

    • @SoulPerformanceProducts
      @SoulPerformanceProducts 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      David, as this exhaust does not alter any emissions devices you shouldn't experience any grief for your dealer. They would be hard pressed to have the grounds to deny any warranty claims on a rear exhaust. That said, every dealer is different. We have some dealers that will install emissions altering devices and some won't touch them.

      @@davidridley3477 we're working on our 997.2 Carrera exhaust suite at the moment and should be launching soon. • @AutoAmateur
      @AutoAmateur  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I did! I looked at the OEM PSE option as well as the Fister and Fabspeed systems. I went with Soul PP eventually for a couple of reasons - first and fore most the sound of the exhaust is tremendous. It's like the OEM PSE but dialed up a few notches to an 11 or a 12... or a 13. :-) Secondly, the build quality is excellent and from all the research I did, they got 5-star reviews. Thirdly, they're so nice and easy to work with!
