As an argentine historian I have to say, well done! Despite the oversimplification of politics and some mistakes, it's one of the best vids I've seen a foreigner make. As for the problem of how a federal system might work, what actually happened irl could be of use: the federal and unitarian parties fought until 1831, when the latter was defeated and their leaders exiled, establishing the confederation and the rosas dictatorship. Over the following 20 years until the defeat of rosas and the first constitution in 1853 both parties morphed and changed; unitarianism as a solution died out, but federalist branches began adopting some centralist principles, you can have a strong federal government while still respecting local autonomous and rights, like Brazil or the US today. That is the solution that eventually won out in the argentine civil wars, a mixture between federal and unitarian ideals.
Yeah its always extremely funny that people cant grasp that the federalists won, then they lost and yet the country is a Federation... while still being centralized on Buenos Aires. And the whole thing about Buenos Aires splitting from Argentina...
@@froovigamer4755 The cartography, mostly. Everything is a bit deformed and when he shows the provinces it's all just wrong, some don't even exist. Also the chaco territory (essentially the middle of the map between what is now southeastern Bolivia, parts of Paraguay and most of north central argentina) was never ruled by the Spanish and was conquered by the South American republics in the 1860's-1900's. Paraguay's territory is shown as bigger than it was, those sorts of things. Can't blame him though, it's hard to get it all straight in Spanish, imagine researching it as a foreigner. Also, it's José GervasiO, not GervasiA. There's also a lot of oversimplification of the politics and ideals of the parties during the Civil wars and independence, they had a lot of very contradictory ideals and changed a lot overtime. The period going from 1806 to the 1830's (roughly the vid) is the most chaotic of the entire region. You know game of thrones? It's Got on steroids and in Spanish, basically. Yeah as it turned out, having Buenos Aires hold all the power ultimately was a mistake. Case in point: Now, right now. BA has sucked resources and has grown in importance to such an obscene size it has left the provinces in the shit, and every now and then a politician that has never once in their lives even laid eyes outside the capital pushes for the most unholy reform against the provinces in favor of the capital or internal politics for no other reason they don't care what goes beyond the city. Should have gone fully Federal, worst mistake in history and will eventually become our actual undoing if we don't correct it.
the perfect history for Italy would be a world where Argentina and brazil are miserable countries with massive birth rate, Brazil at 800 million population and argentina at 200 million, with of these 200 million brazilians and 50 million Argentinians being italian by 2000s a war between argentina and brazil starts, and italy pay the italians in these countries to be refugees, increasing italy population from 120 million to 190 million
I think that, if the Federals win earlier and keep the Oriental Province (modern Uruguay) the capital would be Arjirópolis, a project to make a new capital in an island in the Río de la Plata to balance competition between Buenos Aires and Montevideo, this didnt happen irl because well, the political and territorial developments went in other directions.

The Brazilian scenario would have the portuguese royalty successfully maintain its empire with Rio at its heart. Brazil could easily have French Guyana out of the Napoleonic wars, it occupied the territory and could have asked for it in the peace deals. An interesting alternate history event would have France getting back on the southern american continent through a Mapuche protectorate, weakening Chile and Argentina (even better, add a friendly British colony in the Magellan strait to counter-balance France and destroy any past spanish claim in the area). In the long run, making a rival out the Dutch and siding with the Belgians/Brits/French at the right time might lead Brazil to conquer Dutch Guyana (and more importantly, getting colonies in Asia/Africa, reversing the loss of influence to the Dutch). The craziest thing is that we are barely 40 million people, in the second largest country of all Latin America, plenty of resources, ample access to the sea, zero natural disasters (no volcanos, no earthquakes, no tsunamis, no tornadoes, no hurrricanes); a perfect piece of land; and yet we manage to live as if we were an overpopulated, sterile sh*thole in the middle of nowhere, fighting for the scraps of a barren soil, where nothing grows and nothing can be done. As a Chilean, i would argue that in this fictional timeline Argentina could have controlled even more of the southernmost of our territories, since they were just claims until the colonization of the Magellan Strait, first with the foundation of Fuerte Bulnes in 1843 and consolidated later in 1848 with the foundation of Punta Arenas. If somehow Argentina managed to colonize it earlier (a bit of a stretch considering the other conflicts), it could have probably impeded Chilean claims over most of the territories that nowadays are part of the Aysen and Magellan regions, or at least their continental parts, since they were mostly colonized way later and to this day remain as the least populated regions, despite being the biggest ones.

As an Ecuadorian I have doubts and a huge problem about Ecuador been part of Peru at this world. You know Gran Colombia didnt give independence to Ecuador, it give some backup at a process that was already there for years. Quito and Guayaquil wanted independece many years before Bolivar came there. In fact Bolivar didnt fight the decisive battle, it was Sucre. And after that, Quito was united to Colombia, stayed in that project, have a war with the south country and in fact never wanted to left. Venezuela and Cundinamarca did, Ecuador really wanted to stay, prove of that is the first constitution. Thats why I preffer the version where Colombia keeps Quito, Venezuela and Cundinamarca (actual Colombia). Anyways good video.

Remembered back in the days of r.s.s (recreation.sports.soccer) newsgroup, an Argentine member made a post named "Moral Winners of World Cup", and Argentina won it all. TTL Argentina would certainly won more World Cups than Brazil, but the butterfly effect was so huge that none of the South American star we knew would ever existed.

Beautiful country and people! Greetings from Buenos Aires
If you see Argentina from space at night, you will only see lights in Buenos Aires, and barely a handful of others here and there. All this immense territory, rich and fertile, with so few inhabitants per km2,, and NO ONE capable of managing it wisely. It's infuriating.
@AlanBrando-s6y I saw it on an american documentary.
@@sebastiancontarino No tan mal.

I liked the video, i'm argentinian myself, but argentina had many figures who lost their lives trying to build a proper argentinian state but most of them were killed/exiled by the interests of Buenos Aires which most of the times sided more with colobial powers than other south american states

Si)
Saludos desde argentina hermano. Me encantan tus vídeos, te quiero mucho

I know this definitely isn't Possible History's kind of content but In the case of Argentina, I don't even care about territorial expansion or conquering at, instead I've always just wondered the scenario where Argentina goes down the path of getting its shit together and having everything went PERFECT ECONOMICALLY for Argentina

There is a joke in Latam about mexico/argentina. "When god created Argentina it filled it with natural resources, good climate and easy access to the rest of the world. An angel asked God if this would be too much for one people. God responded: Do not worry I'll put Argentinian on it."
I like who you refered to God as an "it". Very subtle atheism there.
@daniel_rossy_explica nah.

Everything could go not perfect but at least good in Argentina and Southamerica if the US, UK and Europe would back off and stop meddling with our democracies and economic and resources sovereignty, which will NEVER gonna happen. The way the intentionally destabilize every single sign of growth is sickening. It´s very easy for them, we have PLENTY of southamericans who play for them and sell their country for money and power.
Good video. I liked it

What if everything went perfect for mexico
What if everything went perfect for bavaria ( 1700-1914 )
What if everything went perfect for gran colombia
