After the 3050 debuted for $250 and then got scalped to $300+, there's no way that I can see Nvidia selling a 5050 for under $200. I optimistically think that they'll move the performance of the 40 series down one price bracket. 5080 16GB ~= 4090 $999-1,199 5070Ti 16GB ~= 4080 $799-$899 5070 12GB ~= 4070Ti $599-$699 Below that is where things are murky. Would Nvidia sell a 4070 equivalent for $399 as a 5060Ti? A 4060 equivalent 5050 for $249? We won't know until we see the official reveals and we see independent benchmarks.
The 3070 release for around £450 here and was going up to £800+ it was a sad time! I haven't seen the sales figures for 40 series, but judging by how many I've seen, my hope for decreased prices might be naivety on my part 😔
I'm expecting something over prices that no one outside of content creators and graphic designers need.... Who cares about the 5090 or 5080 when nothing but WuKong and Silent Hill 2 remake actually test the 4080....
There is every chance you are right. Let's hope that the 5060 with that level of power draw delivers some unreal performance, and isn't stupidly priced!
If the 5070 on up does not have at least 16gb of vram, then Nvidia should endure a boycott. Its just not worth the money, and they already have enough.
I think there is going to be little or no real uplift in actual card performance. Any improvements will be software based and AI will be slapped all over everything. Also, they will jack up the prices again.
You will probably be right! Hopefully the sales of 4000 were low enough to send a message though! I am forever hopeful! No matter how daft that makes me 🤣
@@yourtechswad I usually buy the 60 series cards with every new release. When I saw the 4060 come out with a 128 bit bus and 8gb of ram for $300, I just got a used 3060ti for $200 and called it a day. I am really hoping they dont screw this launch up but they will.
3060ti is still my favourite graphics card of all time! Had so many customers that had me build them PCs with the 3060ti , not one was disappointed, the price to performance on that card (once scalping died down) was awesome!

Yeah I got a prebuilt with a 12gen and rtx 3080 on sale during the great gpu shortage, been loving all the pc games and mods that I can’t play on ps5 .. mind you thé games that run like trash on pc with a 4090 for that mater at least run great on the ps5..

during the GPU shortages, i just upgraded to an triple 32" 240hz monitors, and a few days after it arrived my RTX 2080 TI just died down, I didn't want to downgrade, and i didnt want the exact same card i already had for 2+ years, so against better knowing in 2 or 3 months before the 4000 series was released, I bought an EVGA RTX 3080 TI for 2200 euro's. Price to Performance difference coming from an 2080 ti to an 3080 ti for 2200 euro's was not really worth that price... So i skipped the 4000 series, and have been eagerly waiting for the 5000 series. Now that i have spend that kind of money on an GPU, the RTX 5090, for $2000+ im now willing to pay for.
@@yourtechswad when i was buying my GPU, i could choose from several brands, to my surprise they were ALL priced at 2200 euro's, MSI/Inno3d/Gigabyte/EVGA Normally i wouldn't consider buying an EVGA card because their usually the most expensive of the bunch, but because they were all priced similary i went for the EVGA one, Which now also kinda became an Collectors item since it was the very last GPU series EVGA made.
Personally the RTX 50 series are going to be very expensive NVIDIA will just drive up the pr rices even more, MRSP does not even exist the retailers will always list the cards for much more.
