Notre Dame student final exams are this week. The school admin instructed all profs to move any exams scheduled for Friday up a day so all students are done by Friday and free to go to the game. All students can stay in their dorms another night etc. ND wants the entire student body there and not going home yet. Be LOUD and be PROUD Students!!
Notre Dame has a cupcake schedule every year. Everyone knows it. Shameful. Too bad they're not in another CFP with the Top 4 only. Where they could get their arse handed to them a la Alabama. Hope Indiana can pull it out.
Josh, I can assure you that most ND fans are not taking IU lightly. They're a talented squad and are well-coached. As good as Notre Dame is, NIU has shown that they can lose to anyone, though I do think they are a very different team than they were in Week 2. I agree with your take that this will be close game for much of the contest but I see the Irish prevailing.
It is correct that this is the first time any channel other than NBC has broadcast a Notre Dame home game since 1990. Since the 1991 season, NBC has held exclusive rights to all Notre Dame regular season home games. Since this isn’t the regular season, however, ESPN’s contract with the CFP trumps Notre Dame’s contract with NBC.
Eh... hold up. Ohio State's Defensive Line in PLENTY physical. Also, they do have a few terrific Defensive Backs on that Buckeyes Defense. I love Notre Dame. Been a life long fan, and I desperately want them to win a Championship again... SOON! But I wouldn't call OSU a "finesse team".
I think its a first quater game. If notre dame shows up and can run the ball esrly they should win big. If they come out flat and throw a lot indiana can win.
You predicted USC to beat Notre Dame. So now that you're predicting Notre Dame to win by 9.5 does that mean they'll win by 20? haha I hope so. Go Irish!
You forgot to bring up the one key that will either make or break IU and that is Special Teams. Ohio State score 14 points on a blocked punt and punt return. If IU comes in with their Special Teams playing better than this will be a lot closer than many think.
I played U53.5 at open. Indiana shut down Ohio St.'s offense and that game flipped on 14 special teams points for Ohio St. Indiana is the best 1Q team in the country, and if you want to lay points with Notre Dame, wait until the opening script is off. U53.5 and live UND -4.5
Nice. I like under as well. I think people are sleeping on IUs running game. They say NDs D-line is a little undersized as well. IU doesn't have a ton of speed at RB, but they're methodical and get yards after contact. Louisville outrushed ND and outgained them overall 395-280. Just can't give away points
@ybn_cornflakes it's not caring about the ratings? What the hell kind of point do you think you made? I made that statement to point out that this game is going to be the least watched and, therefore, the least talked about.
@@austinblount3117 The tickets for this game is $900+ not every ticket but it's the only game on Friday. Every football will be watching to see if IU is lucky or ND are losers.
No talk on Indiana playing 7 rushing teams outside the top 100? Osu is the best rushing team they've played and they're 59th in the nation. Not saying they've got bad rushing defense, but you've gotta put it with a grain of salt.
Gunner might be better suited for what UGA can do. ND will have to gamble and win those bets to beat UGA…our d-line can’t handle UGA o-line straight up
Josh, I feel like Notre Dame isn't given enough credit for how balanced its offense has been. They run the ball just 8x more per game than they pass. In fact, with just over 35 rushing attempts per game, ND is ranked 75th in rushing attempts per game - behind Oregon (36.1), Penn State (37.8), Alabama (37.8), Texas (36.7) and Arizona St. (41.7). Those teams don't get the same disclaimer. Six teams in the playoffs run the ball at least 35x per game - in addition to the ones that are listed, you can add Tennessee (45.4) and Clemson (35.1). I hope we can adjust that perspective going forward. Teams facing ND will face a relatively balanced offense and running the ball effectively 35-40x per game seems to be the leading model.
NIU never put ND in a position where they needed to throw. ND was up by 1 point with 6 minutes left when Leonard decided to chuck an INT on 2nd and 1. If ND runs the ball, they probably score again and the game is over. Instead he throws the INT and then NIU drained the clock until they kicked the FG with 30 seconds left.
I think you are right Josh, all home games have belonged to NBC for decades now. However, ESPN Gameday has been on campus. I believe the last time was when OSU played at ND - so just last year.
One more thing about the ND rush defense, we played 2.5 triple option teams - Army, Navy, and Miami OH. If you normalize the academies to Indiana's schedule, I'd say their rush defense and Indiana's are pretty close.
The last time ESPN/ABC broadcast a ND game in South Bend was Penn State/ND in November 1990. Penn State won the game due to Ricky Watters fumbling the ball away & Rocket Ismail getting hurt in the 1st half & being out for the rest of the game. In 1991, the NBC contract went into effect. The opponent for the first ND game under the NBC contract? None other than Indiana. I’m sure ABC/ESPN will mention that fact during the game this Friday. They’ll probably show the “Irv Smith play” in which our backup TE caught a pass at the 30 yard line & drug several IU players w/ him into the end zone. One IU player got drug 15 yards after trying to tackle Smith.
Other than that horrific loss early in the season, ND looked like one of the best teams all year. Im not ND fan by any means. With that said, man sucks they drew Indiana because I think they have the ability to upset them.
Interesting comment about freezing temperature. Yet we know that as the pressure increases the freezing temperature decreases. So the pressure of the game may change the result
People like an underdog, but expect the best 2 teams in the final game. IU will not be that team until 3 years from now, after the beat both Ohio State and Penn State in the same year.
Notre Dame would be 12-0 right now if only they had converted on that 92 yard field goal against NIU at the end of the game. Roll Irish 2024 National Champions 🏆 AGAIN!!
Why do teams get ranked in the preseason by anyone. CFP should come out with a draft top 25 after everyone has played 2 games. Then redo that in week 6. And eliminate 13th game for conference championships and eliminate first round byes, THEN seed the top 16 , with the top 8 getting home games to open and feed the quarter finals and semis
Not a fan of the comparisons of ND and OSU. Two completely different teams on O & D. OSU def has the talent advantage there but I would give ND the talent depth node. IU has not seen a team like ND all year. Should be fun. GO🍀
I always find it funny the stats Mr. Pate uses to make his picks. Indiana has faced 5 top fifty run defenses and ND is setting at 51st. Yet he claims Indiana can’t run against them. Navy and Army ran for over 200, but Indiana can’t? Strange take. I don’t know who wins but these talking heads just use whatever stat fits their narrative. I know that someone is going to comment that we haven’t faced a runner like Love. Which may be true, but the best run defense Notre Dame has faced is number 5 NIU which is four spots below Indiana. I have no clue who wins but Indiana is better than most realize.

YOU ARE FORGETTING WHO OUR OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR IS. AND WE HAVE ANOTHER KEY PIECE TO OUR D LINE. FURTHERMORE WE OUT WEIGH THEIR D LINE BY 300LBS. GOOD LUCK IU
I thought Michigan Notre dame in 2011 or 2012 was on espn
Only ND away games. Not home games. This is the first ND home game not on NBC since 1991. Coincidentally, the first game on NBC in 91 was against *drum roll* the Indiana Hoosiers
NBC has held the rights for decades, so I would be surprised that NBC would give the rights to such a big money maker to ESPN. I think it was on NBC.
@dcarp71
ESPN has the playoff game rights.
@@kbrewski1 Yes, I could have been more clear. I meant NBC has held the ND home game rights for decades. I do understand the playoffs are different. :)
