The Magpie is totally wild, and comes occasionally for some food, and sometimes with their little one's but who are very timid of course. I originally filmed the Magpie for my brother in law who lives in England and didn't have any recordings of the Australian Magpie sound.
I love the maggies!.. They're so easily tamed and once you win them over they love ya for life.. I've got a family of them, mum & dad and two babies. The babies love rolling around with the tennis balls and playing with my shoe laces. They're very intelligent birds..
That was brilliant! I once went to a bird garden, years ago, and they had this magpie and a sign saying it speaks. It did! Really clearly like parrots do when they talk.
I used to have a magpie when I was in Asutrlia, but now I am in Japan. I miss him very much!!! Magpie is the most beautiful bird for me,,, i wish we had magpies in japan,,,
I live in an area where 40 years ago developers decided to remove most of the larger trees and replace them with Bottlebrushes. The remaining eucalypts survived for a while, but were cut down after storm damage, died during the drought or were poisioned because they were messy. Continued.
I live In new zealand and I saved a baby magpie that fell from its nest but he died,I loved the little guy -I think he had internal injuries because as it got a bit older he died- ( I feed him a proper insect meal from the pet store that was appropriate food for magpies) seeing this video made me think about my little buddy. It was wonderful when he sung, It is a beautiful song that magpies have ,reminds me of my childhood
wow i have never heard the sound of a magpie before. they are my favorite birds we have them where i live. i have never heard one though. it sounds so neat. thank you for showing us.
Your magpies are swooping because you've been moving through their territory whilst the birds are reproducing. When that season finishes the birds will relax, sing and pop by for a snack. 🌻
Man demands bird to sing then he makes the same clicking noise of beak snapping together that the magpie makes as a warning. No wonder the bird is looking confused. Its a wonder that it ends up singing at all.
I know what you mean, a lot of birds ad animals are disappearing with more and more homes being built, where I live I used to hear the cows mooing in the mornings, and I don;t hear them anymore ..... maybe they moooo'ved :-))
When I have seen videos from Australia during the years I have heard this sound sometimes and could never connect it to any animals what so ever. It was actually just a few years back I discover ed it was the Australian magpie that had this very strange sound. The European magpie has a totally different sound and also a much longer tail and a little different coloring but still black and white.
I laughed out loud at the magpie ignoring your pleas to sing. Until another one in the background finally gave us what we wanted! Thanks for the clip :)
OK, I concede the possibly that there may well have been a common ancestor. But it would have been much longer than a mere 100,000 years ago. The last time all of our continents where joined together was 300 million years ago. This land form was a supercontinent we now call Pangaea. Over time Pangaea 'broke up' eventually giving the current arrangement we see today. The Australian Magpie is in the Cracticidae familly, the European Magpie is in the Corvidae, both are in the order Passeriformes
Start feeding it (the go nuts for mince). Make sure it sees your face (they remember human faces for up to 5 years). It will stop attacking you, and you will have a friend for life! Same applies to Butcher birds.
So THIS is how the bird look that sounds like that, had no idea.. And as stated the European magpie look quite different, is bigger and sound totally different but still black and white so they might be from the same evolution branch perhaps. Cool.
That was a magnificent call, you have to be patient to get a result like that
Aww he is so cute
Wow! She has a beautiful singing voice. You're lucky to have her.
Diane Van Most likely a he. Females are much less vocal and more aggressive, this guy would have been getting swooped for making a sound.

R2-D2 in bird form.
This is THE coolest bird call I've ever heard. Thanks for uploading!
"Thank you". Hahaha... so polite. Sitting here watching random stuff on TH-cam with my family and we all liked this one. :)
I hear it every morning so lovely.
awww that was cute. never heard a magpie sing before. what a treat!
Holy shit. What an interesting sound.
MusicListener Yeah just before it impales your skull
@@frenzix To be honest, that's not true. Their swoops don't even hurt.

What a delight, your very own singing Magpie.💝
This video should be called man talking to magpie
0:56 Bird doesn't make a noise until here. I don't know why the uploader didn't cut straight to the point.
Not enough smarts apparently. Over half the video was him talking nonsense.
he wanted us to feel his pain x)
yeah, I mean, youtube has an editing tool, but nooooo we have to listen to a minute of blah
and I was smart enough to jump through until I found the part where it did sing without complaining ;)
because that is the instruction on how to make a magpie sing
She's so cute and beautiful! Thanks for this video of her. :)
I miss the Maggies. They used to be everywhere here in Western Sydney, but I never hear them any more.
I used to have a magpie when I was in Asutrlia, but now I am in Japan. I miss him very much!!! Magpie is the most beautiful bird for me,,, i wish we had magpies in japan,,,

Awesome. I used to watch them tease our dogs and steal their food, they are funny birds:)
I came to hear a magpie and I wasn't disappointed.
that's awesome. I had a pet magpie when I was young - very smart and funny birds, and a joy to wake up to their calls.
The magpie is a most illustrious bird ❤
this is my favorite species of bird.
well worth the wait. Magpies are so clever, they never swoop me anymore. I put that down to either luck or evolution.
They are so beautiful
what a beautiful bird!
wow the singing is incredible! and it looks very different from the black and blue Korean magpie
this is too cute..
you train birds..
I miss home. In Kalgoorlie in WA ive only ever seen a small handful of magpies.
Brucey the mad bird conductor 😂
Bruce BV Thanks for sharing. I've been wondering what that beautiful bird call is that I heard every morning!
Sing for me my angel of music!
Ah thats such a lovely Australian tune.
I like how it becomes a sphere after singing.
Beautiful bird😻
Aw, it sang for you! If you work out where the boundary of its territory is, you'll hear it singing a lot more there.
Sooo cuuute! Waiting paid off. :))
Awww, that is so cute! Thanks for sharing. :)
Wow i never realized how different Australian magpies looked from the ones here in canada.
Reminds me of waking up early on camping trips. A really nice sound..
It’s such a weird sound!! So cool!!
would be a great ringtone =)
This is PTSD, with how much I get swooped.
Magpies dont roll up to your place like this if they're planning to swoop.
@@vcat7347 bet, i have several that live right outside my house

Absolutely Beautiful.
She’s not singing she’s imitating the sound of the ice cream van. Lol
Beautiful sound in the morning
So cool I had to look it up!!
What a well fed maggie, and the quietest l've come across.

That is one nice Video Recorder! The bird was cool too, but that camera... I might dream of it any time I need to record something...
Very sharp bird!
Great impression of R2D2
Sounds like R2D2 mated with a bird! :)

It has such a pointy beak, haha.
I know what you mean, a lot of birds ad animals are disappearing with more and more homes being built, where I live I used to hear the cows mooing in the mornings, and I don;t hear them anymore ..... maybe they moooo'ved :-))
Reminds me of early morning camping sounds. lovely..
That was cool!!
I got one of those too. Top little camera!
Wow, gorgeous
my Pi enjoyed that🤗
American Magpies are corvids, like crows and ravens, but Australian Magpies and corvids are descended from the same group of extinct corvids.
In Australia, a magpie singing is considered to be the sound of a magpie singing.
Nixer Doyle, look at bird bath
He's not stupid- he was only going to sing if really needed!
That's a good bird.
@verticalsmurf - They joined up with Balmain a few years ago and became the Wests Tigers.

Done exactly the same thing trying to get my magpies to sing for the camera.
i want it singing as my ring tone lol so lovely
I think the other magpie said: 'sing you idiot, or the human won't give you anything to eat!'
0:32 a little wattle bird call
A male. It was responding to the call of another magpie. Nice post, thank you.
starts singing around 0:58
Cute!!!

Only 5 years ? 😉
the magpie song is called a warble
Why don't you give it a medal or something ? The fat magpie in our back yard just loves pasta, and especially ragu.
:-{D thank you very much LOL
Magpie is a wonderful bird,I agree!
Glad I had to wait 56 seconds for that Jesus christ
They look like Rooks. The Beak is different and so is the Plumage Colour compared to here in Ireland.
So THIS is how the bird look that sounds like that, had no idea..

he sounds like a modem
Your magpie is awesome. Do you own it or it come to your home everyday like my magpie.
