Small-town guy Longfellow Deeds (SANDLER) goes to the big city to collect a $40 billion inheritance from a long lost uncle. Living in a palatial mansion with the services of an unusual personal valet (JOHN TURTURRO) isn't too bad. Things get even better when he meets a beautiful school nurse (WINONA RYDER). But money changes everything, and things aren't what they seem - his sweetie is actually a journalist feeding reports of his outrageous behavior to the press! Now, it's up to Deeds to straighten everybody out - with a few right hooks and lots of common sense.

You obviously didn’t watch the movie. Deeds was a selfless man who didn’t want anything. He was planning on selling his shares anyway until he found out the new bosses where going to lay off a bunch of workers. He felt bad for the workers so he decided to fight for ownership of the company to save all the employees.
That’s when this scene takes place. He didn’t want any money, he wanted everyone to be happy. But he got the money anyways so he say, Alright.

This is one of Sandler's absolute best movies. And I've had a fan crush on Winona ever since Beetlejuice came out.
I'm such a a schmutz, this scene gets me emotional. Sandler movies can be so gosh darn stupid, but still hit some emotional peaks.
you're not alone. it be weird if you didn't get emotional to this heartwarming moment. I'm not a big Adam Sandler fan, but he's got some good scenes. I have nothing bad to say about Big Daddy for example.

Adam Sandler in real life is the real Mr. Deed. He actually makes films to get his friends exotic location and while he didn't buy everyone a Ferrari, since they are pretty particular about who they sell their cars, he did buy them all pretty expensive cars. Not to mention he been caught on security tapes being quite humble and stories about his kindness are common. Dude really plays himself.

Doesn't make such a good ending to a fictional narrative though, does it? And they mostly got what they wanted is a better outcome in this sort of film than "it took several years to resolve the matter in court, by which time the company had been sold, gutted, and the net worth of the inheritance was significantly less due to the vultures picking at the remains".
john turturro is such an amazingly brilliant actor
If you've never seen him in Brain Donors, you should. It's a fantastic, and extraordinarily silly remake of an old Three Stooges movie, A Night At The Opera.
