Puyo Puyo was originally made by the Japanese company called Compile. It's based off characters from their Madou Monogatari series of games. Compile made some of the best shmups ever. I always thought continuous chains in tetris stacked up. So that means that going for clearing a tetris isn't the only approach. It's digging the holes for the outsetting attacks that become a pain when you keep getting tetriminos that don't fit.
Words can't describe how much I hate this not coming to the US. I played Fever an awful amount when it was on the DS. I even imported 2 and memorized the menus so I could play that one too.
It is actually not all that surprising to me that the Wii U got this game as well. SEGA has been all buddy-buddy with Nintendo recently and, after two years without a decent third-party game, the Wii U finally delivered with this gem. Of course, I CAN NOT PLAY IT DUE TO THE DAMN REGION LOCK CRAP. But, this would have been fun. I bet the gamepad would have acted as a second screen for four-player action for two on the TV and two on the gamepad. That would have been a VERY good use of the gamepad, though I do not know if that is what they actually did. Every DS release did, so I assume that is how it went. On the plus side, this got on the 3DS too and that is region free now, so I can play it on there. Granted, NONE of my friends will probably be interested in buying this game since none of them are big puzzle fans. Just makes me wish that the Wii U was not region locked, as that is a much more convenient option to play with friends.
