    So I worked in a ryokan before and it actually DOES take a surprisingly long time to clean even japanese style rooms that don't have a lot inside. Our ryokan was pretty small (16 rooms) and we had around 20-30 min to clean a room depending on size which sounds a lot but actually isn't especially after you had a group of collage kids staying in there. Sometimes we had rooms that were left in such a bad shape it would take 1 1/2 hours too clean. With bad shape I mean vomit all over the toilet, strong zero spilled over Tatami, used condoms on the futons etc.
    Also depending on the size of an Onsen and how throughly you would clean it can take up to 3 hours or longer in big onsens with several baths I would be guessing, since our ryokans onsen was small with only 1 bath per gender it took "only" 1 hour for cleaning purely the bath with refilling shampoo etc
    I just want to inform you guys it's hard work so pls be thankful to your cleaning staff in hotels its hard work 🙏🏼

    • @Sarachahan
      @Sarachahan 3 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      @@brendanmystery It depends on the ryokan of course. It's possible that they only have a small amount of staff so it takes longer to clean. Tbh it's the first time I heard of a hotel in japan having check out at 9am standard is 10am or 11am with 11am being more common.

    • @Takahiro_Hirata

    To Gigguk: The reason cows and horses in captivity need humans to fix there hooves is because in the wild the terrain they walk on constantly grinds on there hooves to keep them good. When they only walk on grass they don't get this natural grind so it builds up.

    • @marcog.verbruggen674
      @marcog.verbruggen674 3 ปีที่แล้ว +187

      One of those cow hoof trimming videos they were talking about said it was actually because cows have to walk around on concrete a shit ton which fucks up their hooves because concrete is an extremely harsh surface. If they did walk on grass most of the time they wouldn't get so scratched and cracked up due to it being soft. That's why we use horseshoes - to protect the hooves from the much tougher and harsher surfaces domesticated horses have to walk on constantly - but cow hooves' shape prevents horseshoes from being an effective solution for them.

    • @zenpie5093
      @zenpie5093 3 ปีที่แล้ว +56

      I could also imagine that one reason (at least for the cows) is the way they are bred. They got really big udders now to produce a lot more milk which of course is really heavy and damages their posture. I can only imagine how much their hooves suffer.

    • @peach_total
      @peach_total 3 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      @@marcog.verbruggen674 horseshoes are actually so bad for horses (and cows) though. think of our shoes, we get super soft and cushiony soles because bare feet on concrete hurts your bones. now imagine someone nails SUPER HARD steel soles into your feet so every impact vibration is not only bigger because it’s steel on concrete, but is also reverberating up THROUGH your toes by nails inside your feet

    • @Ironpecker
      @Ironpecker 3 ปีที่แล้ว +95

      @@peach_total it's not as bad as it seems, since the nails are going trough essentially their nails (which are strong af), so imo a better way to imagine it is what if you wore fake nails that are made of aluminium (the weight doesn't really matter since horse just weigh a shit ton and don't mind too much even a human and a full sattle if they're trained enough).
      Like it also prevents their "nails" from getting broken and lets them just be much more comfortable going around areas with lots of little stones or cement (even though it's bad af because they can be super slippery for horses with normal horseshoes and not specialized horseshoes).
      Also usually for horses that are used for sport they always get their hooves and horseshoes cleaned by most of the dirt, but still the horseshoes need to be changed every half a year or so, so it's still comfortable and protective for them.
      Source 8 years of horse riding expirience :)

      @@peach_total cushioned shoes are actually bad for feet because it encourages you to strike your heel to the ground instead of stepping on your midfoot. The ankle is a natural shock absorber and heel striking causes injuries because one doesn't use the ankles ability to take on the froce.

      Backstage crew interaction with the host is a thing that desired now, cuz its a shaared experience. It make us felt like we are there among them. For example, I found James Corden Live is boring as hell, but during the pandemic because no audience there is more interaction between James and his crew that people watchibg loving it. So is a formula now.
      But if they don't like it, cuz of whatever reason maybe due to budget, backstage crew want to stay incognito or they don't want to share the spotlight (doubtful that this is the reason lmao just listing), its still is their show but we as fan can gice some feedback too.

    1:48:53 Backing Connor up on this one. I thought I could see ghosts since I was 5, but when I was recently diagnosed with Autism my psychiatrist said 30% of people with autism have visual or auditory hallucinations and I'm one of them. I was tested for schizophrenia it's definitely not that, I've been told. Since going on antipsychotics for this, my supernatural beliefs have dimmed a lot. I barely hallucinate anymore.. thank god my hallucinations are nightmare fuel hahaha. There really can be logical explanations even for lifelong experiences. I still find ghosts and paranormal stuff fun, but take it all with a grain of salt I guess.

    • @WaiW41
      @WaiW41 3 ปีที่แล้ว +41

      I'm glad the antipsychotics are working for you! :) Take care, my dude
      As someone who believes in the supernatural for fun but cannot seriously believe in them, the most concerning thing is the defence that because we don't have enough scientific knowledge to explain everything, there's room for belief in the paranormal. On the surface, this is fine, but this argument allows for so much of bullshit, whether it's predatory psychics scamming vulnerable people or mental health issues being treated as 'powers' or experiences of the supernatural and thus not getting adequate treatment. The Super Eyepatch Wolf video on this is great, but the problem is even more pervasive. Even the simple belief in astrology can be harmful when people end up making decisions or judging people purely based on when they were born.

    Hey! Nutritionist here! Breakfast is something interesting, there is no consensus about if we should or should not have it, what it's clear it's that some people should. You'd see, there's so much time between dinner and breakfast (sleeping 8 ours and in addition the ours between dinner and going to sleep). There is evidence that, in some people, this much time without eating can make it easier for your body to increase fat storage. Now, about what you should have for breakfast the only thing I can say for sure is that we should NOT have something with sugar on it (this has to do with something called glucemic index).
    Finally you guys are right, the food pyramid has been declared obsolet years ago! Many countries have their own systems determined by their governments and while those could also have it's issues most of them should be better than the original pyramid.

    To anyone who has had unexplainable situations happen to them; I think you underestimate what your brain is capable of. But it doesn't make you stupid to be convinced by your own brain. Even if something isn't grounded in objective reality you can still "experience it" as part of your own personal reality.
    This is also why I don't consider people who believe in gods stupid. You can absolutely have a "god" in your life that can manifest itself as for example the morality or better self you aspire to be. It can be as real to you as anything else.

      Logical arguments don't work with defiant kids. Especially when the kid doesn't understand the why of doing, or not doing something when told. Which is why appropriate punishments should be applied. Withholding internet, games, tv, hanging out with friends s until specific chores and homework are done for example. Another powerful tool is rewarding good behavior, specifically when the n d is proactive about it and doesn't need to be told.

    • @dowfreak7
      @dowfreak7 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'll agree with being skeptical, but as a kid I wasn't THAT defiant. No need to act out, just because I don't understand something, right?
      I was, however, always skeptical of most religious things, precisely because of my parents. They taught me to keep an open mind and question things, so I stopped going to church pretty soon, I never got roped into smoking or drink binges etc.
      And nowadays I still believe that most religions are nonsense, but I do have the belief that there could be a supernatural thing that kickstarted the universe, just because I've always kinda thought that and we don't have a really well-thought through idea of how it happened. Once that theory pops up, I'll just question my belief and see if it still fits; if not I'll adjust.

      when it comes to stupidity i agree as well. lot´s of very intelligent religious people around, lots of dumb atheists and vice versa. i think what´s happening when intelligent poeple believe in stupid stuff is a personal emotional reason. that emotional reason often grants special license to selectively disregard logic and scepticism and proper baysian reasoning. that one topic is emotiinally shielded from the intellectual rigor they might apply to almost all other topics.
      that is quite evident with garnt. theres so much we don´t understand, so much science can´t explain. yes, sure tottally that doesn´t mean it´s ghost though it only means you or science can´t explain it (yet)

    I can finally say that I have watched all of the Trash Taste Podcast episodes. It took like 2 months, but I did it. I watched Joey's channel when I was younger, but I recently saw this, decided to watch an episode, and then chose to start from the beginning. I had heard of Garnt, but didn't know Connor, and now I have spent roughly 140 hours listening to them and can say I'm up-to-date when the next one comes out.
    For the spiritual/religion/alien/etc. topic: As a Christian (sorta), nothing is more annoying than seeing religious people say "prove that God doesn't exist" (and vice versa). The same goes for ghosts and aliens. I believe that they exist but that we can't understand them and likely don't have any grasp on how they work. If you're demanding that people believe or don't believe in something that can't be proven or disproven, you're sorta in the wrong tbh.

    I've pretty much only watched anime while doing exercise for the last 10 years. It's great because it's always a constant time put aside just to watch anime and an incentive to get your exercise done. It also works well with seasonal anime since you just schedule a different show(s) for each day of the week. Works best with cardio since you can concentrate on nothing but the show, but it's fine with weights as well (just pause every minute or so and do your set and then unpause).

    Toward the tail end of the podcast about the ghosts/paranormal discussion, its actually impossible to prove anything non-existent. Unless you can observe 100% of existence at the same time, all you can 'prove' is that something doesn't exist in the place you have checked. The reason why the burden of proof is on the one claiming (in this case that ghosts/the paranormal are real) is that if no proof beyond a reasonable doubt can be provided, how can the claim be shown to exist? Personal experience may seem like 'proof' but unfortunately the only thing that a paranormal 'experience' proves is that the one having the experience felt something 'paranormal'. The emotion is real. The feelings are real and valid. The cause, however, is always mundane.

    • @SilverDragonJay
      @SilverDragonJay 3 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      I really like the way you phrased that at the end, about the feelings and emotions being real. I freaked out for weeks before moving out from that room and being brave enough to sleep alone again. Years later I had a friend over and he would sleep in my old room. He barged into my (new) room that night with no explanation and was shaking. I calmed him to sleep. The next morning he told me that he seen something in that room. Same I guess. I didn't often feel for breakfast, but when I started making it a habit, I could successfully cut back on the size of my lunch and dinner. And just as well, cause lunch and dinner were where the habit of eating too much, or eating junk in general actually came from for me. With breakfast, I could skip lunch at work sometimes until later, and even if I had lunch it'd be light so I wouldn't be sleepy afterwards. And as mentioned it's perfect if you make it so that your dinner is light as possible before sleeping. The importance of breakfast is more about how you regulate your calorie intake for the remainder of the day than anything else. When I skipped breakfast, I'd end up wanting to eat more for the rest of the day, to the point of having 2 dinners to make up for it, so it was normal to go to bed on a full stomach.

    Ok, I know y'all said ya don't do that sorta controversial shit on here, but I find it funny that the best discussions you guys have are the ones where you are technically talking about said controversial topics xD The biggest difference that makes your discussions about said topics uncontroversial is that you guys just find the main conflict, and just tackled that instead of getting too bogged down in details and semantics which is usually what makes that topic controversial in the first place. It also helps that you guys are very open and receptive to opposing ideas during said discussion, and you all bring up valid points as well!
    It's just refreshing that you guys don't go into enough detail to make the discussions controversial cuz I feel like I've seen enough people do that online, and more often than not, the discussion they're having feels too reductive that it just becomes unproductive. It's just nice to see someone talk about it in the bigger picture sometimes :') Cuz really, some of the most basic things you can do as a human literally boils down to "just be nice and understanding to people" and how that original vision gets so lost in the process sometimes still disappoints me occasionally :'D
    The way y'all naturally slip into a conversation like this and get all your points across while highlighting other viewpoints and perspectives that may sometimes be influenced by cultural viewpoints unique to each of you just amazes me. It's shit like this that makes me really respect the way y'all handle delicate subjects as a group, and why it's always comforting to listen to y'all bring up stuff relevant to each of your identities and speak about your own backgrounds and experiences :) Also Garnt's just got the best takes sometimes, and I'm definitely, totally NOT biased just because I'm part of SEA gang or anything. /s /hj
    It's also partially why I can never really understand how people can't tell when y'all are having a heated discussion to play it up for the camera, and what discussions were truly relevant to your own sense of selves and beliefs. I don't think dudes this sensible would take discussions about bidets THAT personally ya kno? Yes, that was a rhetorical question, and yes they would do it for the memes xD Edit: Well.
