  • Randy talks about 2 new rifle packages he's offering and shows what components he's using for both. Check out our website for more information on both of these rifle packages.
    UPDATE: Because our clients are always after a "custom" rifle, and over a year of offering the packages, we found many wanted a change here, a change there. So while we have sold rifles that came from interest from the packages, our clients have spoken and they still want "custom", the options made with all of our rifles to suit each clients individual wants and needs.
    UPDATE, 2022: We've had such long waits for the Borden actions, that we are offering this package built on other similar and very good, accurate actions. Contact us for details.

    When you listen to a person talk about their craft and you realize they have forgotten more than you know about a particular subject it is quite humbling and you should listen intently. If you sat down for a single cup of coffee with this man, you would walk away a better rifleman than you would ever be with out it.

    I haven't handled a custom built rifle in over 30 years. I know what they're capable of though. I absolutely love that m-40 series that's built in Quantico, and so does my son.
    Nowadays I will never shoot at any game animal over 300 yards, and I don't tote nothing for a rest. It's fieldcraft all the way for me. I respect the game I hunt more than ever these days and I ain't going to drop the hammer unless I am absolutely positive that I can make a clean kill. Your rifles are as good as they come, Mr Randy .

    A lot of people buying a custom rifle will grab random parts and have a Frankenstein’s monster assembled. That hunter model is well thought out, with phenomenal components and everything is put together to work with each other to create something more than the parts. I’m not a fan of radial brakes but other than that that’s a fantastic rifle

    The Hunter Rifle is a great looking piece of work; I'm sure the technical aspects and accuracy will exceed expectations. The Tactical model was really interesting with the diamond fluting. Having the load data for each individual rifle is really an incredible extra for the owner. My bet is that the 300WinMag will wind up being the most popular caliber offered.
    Best of luck with these rifles!

  • @GabrielsSword133
    @GabrielsSword133 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I am sure they are fine rifles.. The muzzle brake design and style is very poor for a hunting rifle though. The weather by magnum calibers are pretty redundant compared to many others we have today due to cost of brass and being belted. You don’t need a magnum cartridge to hunt out to 5 or 600 yards shot placement at any range is key to a humane kill, it’s not all about the energy of the bullet.

    What do you think of the rangefinder that uploads to the scope?

    • @TheRealGunsmith
      @TheRealGunsmith  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I don't endorse this, as an experienced hunter. It takes fair chase out of the picture and encourages unethical shots too far away, which too often results in wounded game. And it encourages doing something beyond ones abilities. Hunt. Stalk. Get into decent range and make a one shot kill. THIS is hunting.
      Too many rely on their super-duper scope and/or apps instead of building hunting skills.

      I can and do build anything my clients like. The man that started in videoing our channel thought a rifle "package" would be a big boon. But almost everyone that contacted us about the "packages" wanted this or that change, different caliber, etc, and so while we still will build the rifles as depicted in this video, there are many changes that can be requested.

    I hope the newly released SAMMI approved .300 PRC takes off. It's better in many critical ways than the old long standing .300 Winmag. .375 Ruger necked to .308 groove.
    "The .300 PRC features a cartridge/chamber design geared for precision shooting using a standard magnum bolt face. Its beltless case creates an optimum body taper, shoulder angle and neck length, and deliberate chamber clearance in the throat. Its case capacity is designed for use of specific propellants to ensure temperature stability; uniform pressure and velocity; and the ability to use every bit of case capacity. It is designed to deliver adequate and consistent barrel life. The cartridge accommodates modern long-range and traditional bullets; its overall length allows bullets to be seated out from the case body to ensure proper throat length. Hornady factory offerings released today utilize modern, long-range bullets-the 225-grain ELD-M and 212-grain ELD-X-traditionally available only to the handloading community.
    "Now consider the fact there has never been a SAAMI-standardized, factory-produced .30-caliber magnum cartridge with all the preceding attributes."

      @@TheRealGunsmith Eh I disagree. They are valid points to make, coming from a precision long-distance (1500+yd) standpoint. All great cartridges have their start at some point. .308, .30-06, .300 Winmag all were new kids on the block at some point.

    • @TheRealGunsmith
      @TheRealGunsmith  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There have been a few changes to the package, but not the rifle. The rifle, scoped, with custom case, load work up would be $6275.00 [that is the price in Jan 2022, prices subject to change] and an approximate 8-9 month turnaround time. You'll have to contact Randy through email for more information as we can't sell them through this format.

    Do you handload ammo for customers? I know you work up loads for the rifles you build for customers, but say would you take orders for handloads someone may want?

    • @TheRealGunsmith
      @TheRealGunsmith  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I only work up loads for rifles sent to me, or that I have done conversion work or built. There are just so many hours in the day.
      Superior Ammunition in SD will handload for many people.

    • @TheRealGunsmith
      @TheRealGunsmith  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      BTW, it's McMillan. Neither make an action to closer tolerances than Borden. That is why we use them for our rifle packages and other custom rifles that clients may wish to have made, it it is in their price range. If the tolerances were tighter the bolt wouldn't function. I have had them all in the shop and none compare or hold a candle to the Borden actions. And I am NOT lying.
