Did nothing? I stated in the beginning of the video I wasn’t gonna take out the whole system this is something you can do yourself without having to do a full service if your carbon build up is mild. Cleaning out that EGR pipe and doing the PCV, throttle body and intake will prevent faster build up on the actual EGR and improve airflow temporary which makes your service interval on a full system clean a couple thousand miles longer. I do agree that a full system clean should have been done and recorded which I plan to make in the future.
Yes it will especially after a newer PCV valve it will make the engine run smoother. Keep in mind this isn’t a full EGR system clean but it helps slow down the build up on the EGR cooler system
Great Vid! Very helpful. Going to be doing the EGR/PCV service in the coming weeks. May even replace the EGR valve/cooler based on what I've been reading ('12 CT200h w/ 142kmi).
Did you install all the connectors back on? Everything should be nice and snug make sure that all connections are clean and make a snapping noise to ensure proper connections, If the check engine light is still on I recommend to bring it to someone who can scan the OBD II to see what underlying error the car is alerting the ecu about
Thanks for your reply. We checked our work and sure enough there a loose connection. We connected it and the engine light went off! So we cleaned the EGR system, replaced spark plugs, checked the oil level, changed the transmission fluid, replaced the air filters. But the car still intermittently runs rough (a slight shudder) when it’s warmed up. It seems to occur when the car goes between battery drive to battery charge and vice versa. Or when it goes between battery drive and engine drive. I hope that makes sense.
Because it’s just a precaution the thing about the ct200s is the head gaskets. Because of the egr systems the head gaskets go bad so it’s just better to do this.

You just literally did nothing. You were half way there to take everything off, might as well take off the EGR and intake and do the full job.

We thoroughly cleaned all the EGR parts and replaced the PCV valve. The engine light came on when we started the car. It sounds normal. Any thoughts?
