Fishermen community is the native of Mumbai, they used to worship goddess "Mumba" and their language is Marathi. In Marathi mother is called as Aai. These people used to call the goddess Mumba as mother so the name was Mumbai (Mumba+Aai). When Portuguese came here, they started calling it "Bombaim" meaning the good bay. When a marriage happened between Portuguese and British Royal family, Portuguese gave this place to British as "Dowry" and British changed its name to "Bombay" which also means the good bay. There is no evidence to suggest where the name came from, as Sopara is the only mentioned town in history, & the 7 islands do not naturally make up a city, except that the Portuguese preferred to make an island as a port.
Holy water used by Indian, water from river Ganga and Urine from Cow we mix it with 50-50 ratio in water and sprinkle it inside our home to purify it,some people also drink this
The name - Bombay came from the Portuguese...it translates as - Bom = good and bay :) the good bay in Portuguese...the Britishers stuck with it when they received the islands as a gift from the Portuguese!
