- In 1938, the US White Motor Company tried replacing the rear wheels of an M3A1 Scout Car with bogie assemblies, creating the M2 Half-track. The M2 was designed as an artillery tractor, but was lengthened for transporting infantry - the M3 Half-track. White, Autocar and Diamond T built M2 and M3 half-tracks from 1941. Half-tracks were supplied to US allies through lend-lease, and International Harvester manufactured the M5 and M9 versions of the M3 and M2, respectively, to meet the increased demand. This International Harvester M5 was on display at the Tanks, Trucks and Firepower show in 2023.

I have always thought that an M3 or an M5 would be awesome if it could be out fitted with a LTD465 multi fule engine.
Now there’s a thought! 😁
