- Chers amis, pardon the coy French address here, but the French language is so blessedly fresh in my mind when I've just been to France (and so annoyingly remote when time passes, and I don't use it). This was not a holiday; let me make that perfectly clear. When I looked through the footage myself, I thought: well, nobody can see all the stress I felt, the lack of sleep, the worries. But maybe that's OK. As long as you don't think it's a walk in the park being a travel guide. It is not. I was asked to go again in April, but I said no, mainly due to the flight details, which I briefly mention in the video. Maybe again at a later date. But that just made this trip a bit more memorable. I hope you enjoy a little vicarious traveling or maybe get a few tips for your own future trip (?) or simply enjoy picturesque southern France. C'est parti !

I spent February,2019 with my daughter step-daughter and her friend doing a similar trip in Nice. It was a fabulous trip run by Road Scholar. Of course the girls were 35 and 50. I was the senior citizen. Part of my need to go to Nice was to bring some of my mother's ashes to the Mediterranean Sea. My mother had told me about her journey from Paris to Nice by foot with her brother during the Nazi invasion in 1940. She rarely spoke about the war but in her later years we were able to ask her bits and pieces. She also spent her honeymoon to my American father in Nice. So I needed her to complete her circle. Thanks for the wonderful memories. I shared this video with my girls.
Oh my gosh, I got goosebumps from this. Thanks so much for sharing 😘❤️
That brought a lump to my throat. Beautiful to be able to do that for your mother, really beautiful ❤
Many thanks for sharing your travel stories. Imo your outlook on life and your inquisitive nature would make you a perfect tour guide.
Thanks so much 😘🩵
What a nice vlog for a Sunday morning as I plan my day (and what I am going to knit). The music, scenery and narration were so calming I watched it twice. 😊 I honeymooned in Nice 25 years ago and went again 5 years later, so it was very nostalgic. I was so glad to see the market, the beautiful ocean views and the quaint streets again. Thank you for sharing your travels.
🙏🏻😚❤️
Beautiful and well narrated travel video !❤❤❤
Thanks for lovely vidoe from lovely places. I enjoyed it despite the weather😅❤ . And I noticed, that you were able to finish your sweater from that lovely parisian yarn🎉
Thank you for sharing… again another lovely video to watch and pretend being there …. ❤
I watch your knitting content but I also love your travel videos! Thank you!
Ah, so lovely to be able to travel with you! I love listening to your musings and seeing places through your eyes. Thank you!
Thank you for a lovely episode. My key takeaway: Stay curious, be kind and drink wine. I will happily endorse those practices! (And knit of course.)
👌🥂🥰
Lovely to travel to France with you!! The disappearing shopper sculpture was intriguing!!
Helle this is heavenly like wonderful therapy seeing all the beautiful scenery thankyou so much
🙏🏻😚🩵
What a lovely way to begin my Sunday morning visiting southern France with you as I knit. Thanks for sharing!
🙏🏻😘🌸
Your sweater matched that light teal ocean and the white waves!
You noticed! 🥰🩵🤍
Thank you. I loved that . I live in southern England. My daughter and her family live in the hills behind Nice. She works in Antibes ... yes in the super yacht industry. I go there a lot ..the last time was a month ago ..but I miss them all so it was nice to see. We do find it can be very wet in the autumn. The paved alleys in the wet are not for the faint hearted. It seems crazy to me that such a steep slippery surface still exists! Keep curious. Sound advice!
I would love to visit Nice. I visited Paris a few years ago. It was so crowded that I felt overwhelmed. An off-season visit to Nice looks much more relaxing.
Hej Helle! 🌟😮Thank you so much for takings us along to such a beautiful place. I would love to have you as a tour guide. Enjoy your cozy home again!
I loved the tour. I have never been to France and I would like for you to give me a tour😊.You’re very relaxed and informative. I’m not a “knitter” but I still watched your videos but not with interest so I was glad to see this video. Enjoy your November!
Thanks for being here still then 😚❤️
That was such fun Helle 💕 I’ve been to Nice a couple of times and this was like a magical walk down memory lane. One of my mottos is stay curious, be kind, find joy. I love holidays where you walk to the point of almost exhaustion, taking in all the sights and sounds, watching all the people, yes eating ice cream and exploring the area. Thanks for sharing, that was wonderful as always, Karen 🥰
Thanks so much, Karen. Lovely that you have visited Nice as well 💛
Lovely!
It is really lovely to join you on trips to interesting places. 🇬🇧
Thank you for sharing this lovely footage. I just marked all the destinations as "places to-visit soon". So many gorgeous places at France that it is difficult to choose.
Beautiful! Loved this travel vlog (as all of them!) - so many memories came back... Thank you, big hugs!
Thanks for letting me relive a wonderful trip, maybe 7 years ago. Nice is my very favorite city. (Well, Florence is pretty great too.) I love your travel videos, the knitting episodes also.
🙏🏻😚🩵
I really enjoyed watching your video 🥰 Thank you! ❤
🙏🏻😚💕
Thank you for the video and the travel guide explanations. It felt like a short holiday for me 😊
What a magnificent blog....I thoroughly enjoyed it...thank you so much for sharing ❤
Lots of wonderful memories for me. Watching from Australia. Thank you .
Loved this video (and all your other ones too), Helle! This totally took me back to my first Christmas as a newlywed with my husband (16 yrs married!) We spent a couple of nights in Nice after being accidentally upgraded to 1st class in the TGV. It was my first sight of the Mediterranean Sea and just fell in love with southern France. Thank you for taking me back🥰 Have a Happy New Year 🥂🕊️
Happy New Year to you, too 🌟🩵
Thank you, thank you for your wonderful travel video and tour guide narration! I love your videos, knitting and travel! ❤ Have a beautiful day!
Thanks so much - and for watching 😘❤️
It’s so enjoyable to explore and experience different places through your eyes. Thank you.
Thank you so much 💕🩵
You brought me so many memories! I spent many happy times in Nice and St. Paul de Venice with a dear friend. It’s been too long! Thank you for sharing this lovely trip.
😚🙏🏻
Thank you Helle! So wonderful trip! Everithing so beatiful!😍
TU for such a wonderful tour, beautiful
My mother loves France and French people but she is terrified of airplanes so she went to the doctor, got some medication and flew to France anyway (fortunately accompanied by her tour group lol!)
She said it was a trip of a lifetime and was so happy she was able to do it.
How lovely! I really do enjoy your travel vlogs - they're so beautifully narrated and edited. I always enjoy your thoughts, reflections and comments too. A lovely relaxing way to spend twenty minutes on a rainy Sunday evening here in the UK. I think I must revisit Nice - its been a few years and I thank you for the reminder!
Thank you so much 😚🩵
Thank you for the lovely tour!
A beautiful video! Loved every minute of it. Thank you for sharing!❤🍷
Such a beautiful trip .. I love your travelogues.. thank you for the journey ❤
Lovey tour of Nice et environs - what a wonderful part of France! Always fun to hear mention of your attemps to fit in a bit of knitting on the side, espcially knowing I might get to hear more when you next publish a knitting podcast!
Thank you, and you sure will ☺️🤍
Very beautiful video.
Thank You , this was a lovely video one I will watch again.. You are a very special person, I really admire you
Beautiful, thank you
Thank you for showing us this beautiful place. I wonder what the small towns are like around it? You look lovely in all your scarves. You know your colors! I thought it was interesting how you paired your Breton shirt, pinstriped blazer and graphic scarf-you nailed it. "Stay curious, be kind and drink wine", so much wisdom in those words!
I love that you noticed these details; you have a good eye 🤍💙 Thank you!
I loved.this❤ i went to Paris last year and i plan to go to France again. This is a delightful video
Love seeing your videos of France. I like visiting outside areas of the larger cities in Europe . Some guided tours focus on the big city areas. Ugh
Thank you for the tour from Alberta Canada♥
Hi Helle, I love all of your travel videos, I can't wait to visit Europe! I am currently reading your book. So far I love it!
Oh, thank you so much. Happy travels when the time comes 😎❤️
Thank you - loved the tour! We have taken many tours and definitely realize how much the tour director do, as they are “on call 24/7.”Haven’t really thought about taking a tour in November or December, but now might consider it as the tours seem much less crowed. I hope you and your family have very happy holidays 😊
Thank you so much, and yes exactly, much less crowded 😊
Thanks so much for sharing 🍷
What a lovely trip. Thank you for taking us to Nice. One of my co-workers lives nearby, so it was a treat to see his nearby towns. Hope to see it myself in person one day. I was an art history major in college and my first international trip was to northern France (Paris), Belgium and the Netherlands. I will look forward to checking out the Chagall Museum should I ever make it to the south of France. Love the life motto: Stay Curious. Be Kind. Drink Wine. xoxo
❤️🥂😘
I spy a beautiful blouse no. 1! 😍Thank you for such a lovely and informative tour - I feel like you would be an amazing person to travel with, and I'm a little salty that I can't go on one of your excursions 😂
You do indeed, and that would be amazing 😽🤍😅
❤❤❤❤
Tres joli
I enjoy both your travel and knitting videos. No yarn stores on this trip?
Only one with nearly 100% acrylic yarns ?! 🫣
Очень красиво, жаль нет субтитров на русском😢!
Hi Helle, I like your videos (knitting especially!) but for me several travel videos per year are a bit too much considering the climate change and flights which have been quite unavoidable for getting there. Even though the content would not be meant as “promoting” travelling, it’s still influencing people - and not in a positive way considering the climate. I just hope you also consider this and your role as an “influencer”. 🙏😊
Thanks for your feedback. As you say, I do not consider myself an influencer so this is more a question of sharing content that I love, whether it’s knitting, travel or life in general. That said, I do absolutely agree that we need to consider the climate, which is also why I have an environmentally friendly house, ride my bike when I can, buy organic etc. and half my trips this year, whether work or private, have been by bus or car. It’s definitely a balance, and as much as I want (and want us all) to be responsible, we need governments to legislate for a greener agenda and not leave it up to us as individuals. That will not be enough 💚
Really enjoyed your video. I work as a tour manager taking groups on craft holidays around the world, so I totally endorse your comments on how mentally & physically tiring it can be, along with the regret of not being able to answer every question but we do use local guides so there is not too much pressure. “Stay curious, be kind, drink wine…. “ Such a great thought while travelling with with a demographic of a certain age… If I bring a group to Denmark, I’ll be in touch..🤭 🧶
Tak for turen til Niece. 🧶🥰
