I think my favourite part of this video was when he got tired of Kirby games and made Smash. Then he got tired of that and worked on Mushiking, which is (or was, at least) a BIG deal in East Asia. The guy has the golden touch and its a shame he's stuck making the same game over and over when he really doesn't want to.
Masahiro Sakurai creates new F-Zero, followed by Earthbound, the world attains an age of peace, and Sakurai finally makes a sequel to Kid Icarus: Uprising, this one featuring Kratos from the God of War series.
Also, he's apparently good friends with Hideo Kojima, and Snake appearing as a guest fighter in Brawl and Ultimate was a request made by him personally

@@Cpt_Natalia Competitive wise? sure But casually it was alot of fun. Final smashes were very experimental, so was assist trophies, the inclusion of stage builder, story mode, etc. For a good portion of the fanbase, it was their favorite, but if anyone who has dabbled or is competitive, it was meh.
We need more people like Sakurai in todays gaming industry. So many controversies about developers disconnected from fans, poor use of microtransactions, loot-boxes, and other such negativity, I rarely hear anything good.

You're the real MVP. This is the story of Masahiro Sakurai, of his start at HAL Laboratory, the creation of Kirby, and his secret prototype that became Super Smash Bros. It's also the story of Satoru Iwata, because of course it is, that wonderful man had a hand in basically everything you love. And, it's the story of the King of Beetles and the Dragon King. Lots of animal kings making brief appearances in this video. What a weird coincidence. We played things a bit fast and loose with the timeline in this video, bouncing around a bit rather than staying in a straight line. Masahiro Sakurai's tendonitis hit while he was working on a previous Smash game, not Ultimate. Hopefully that won't seem too confusing. Just bear in mind that our hearts are in the right place. Actually, the backstory about Brawl was that in E3 2006, Iwata out of nowhere, announced Brawl WITHOUT Sakurai knowing. So, in other words, Sakurai heard about the game at the same time as the public did. Then, Iwata told Sakurai if he didn’t agree to work with the game, Nintendo would just remake Melee with online multiplayer, thus breaking the series apart into despair. So in other words, Iwata blackmailed Sakurai to make Brawl.
I don't know where things will go from here after Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. But I believe Sakurai can look back on the last 20 years with pride knowing that he truly gave it his all. How he's constantly raised the bar with this franchise, and continue to surpass expectations is unbelievable. He may not be able to please everyone, and I may not always get what I want, but I sure respect him for trying. I'll always be grateful for him.
I am just in love with this format. It's an easily digestible way of learning things that can help people in life, especially creatives. The thought of being like the people covered in your videos is a big motivator for me as a developer. Thank you.
I feel terrible. His vision of a game, the way he truly wanted it to be, us fans turned it into the complete opposite of what he wanted. Demanding, hardcore, competitive, nowhere near a party game with everyone on your ass for being a beginner. Don't even get me started on the rowdy community itself, scaring new players away too.

If you believe something should be done and you're tired of dreaming, or if you have a deep passion for something and want to do it for life, then stand up on your own two feet and do what it takes to make it happen. I know right! Some people say that Kirby is a very bad character who only cares about food. But he's not! I am about to express my opinion here. Kirby is innocent and selfless. Imagine if Kirby just didn't help the people in need? What if he just ignored them? That would be something he's never do. Sure, he gets tricked sometimes. But immediatley, he dealed with the problem that he had caused. Because of his selflessness, he has made so many friends. Besides, that friendship, is what keeps Dark Matter from taking over Planet Popstar. Kirby Star Allies is LITERALLY about the power of FRIENDSHIP. Kirby is very forgiving. He accepted those who helped him, and forgave and befriended those who turned against him, or even betrayed him! Would those people who betrayed him be able to ever find happiness again if it wasn't for Kirby? Honestly, I think Kirby isn't that much of a bad guy after all.
*Warning, I'm about to reference Smash Ultimate's Story Mode* ... ... ... ... ... The moment I saw the battle raging between Galeem and Dharkon, with all the fighters caught in the middle, there were two words that immediately popped into my head. "I'm trapped."

You know I love crossovers even tho I never played smash, I knew about it and I am TOO passionate about all the crossovers like Marvel VS Capcom, PlayStation All-stars, Street fighter X Tekken and even Mortal Kombat VS DC universe. I am 18 years old right now, I have been playing video games since I can remember and I am writing a crossover adventure game since 13 years old. Back then I was living under a rock and I didn't even knew the half of those games I mentioned before so basically the crossover adventure idea came almost originally to me. But those years that I took videogames seriously in a professional level I realized that the path I am taking is a very difficult one. Although that isn't an excuse for me to stop. My story for this crossover adventure has changed a lot over the years but still it remains a crossover. I created my own hero for the story, that his living in a timeline that all the gaming universes are one (don't worry his is not anything like Sora from Kindom Hearts). He has to overcome the everyday problems that occur cause of the differences of each civilization. Imagine it as super GTA and such. If Masahiro did the impossible with smash then I am doing the ultra impossible with this. Cause I live in the 3rd rate country known as Greece, with everyday problems (mostly economical) always knocking the door. I have the dream to make this story with PlayStation characters (even tho I started gaming with Nintendo consoles, I became a PlayStation fan) and I feel like this is the right way to go since a beautiful game like PlayStation All-Stars didn't reached expectations maybe it needs to be taken from a different angle of gaming gameplay. So here is my ultra impossible shot, a script that I have been working on for 5 years now, I the little poor Greek is trying to leave from his country, learn and gain experience that he is going to definitely need, present his ridiculous idea to Sony, one of the biggest gaming industries in the whole world and actually expects that this going to go smoothly. I can only hope that if I succeed and become someone, people are going to tell my story just like they did with Masahiro Sakurai...
I love that your stories have a moral at the ending. Most movies do not have that anymore which almost always leaves it feeling like there is something missing.

this made me curious what the last kirby game sakurai worked on was. and it was kirby and the amazing mirror, apparently. and it had a crazy development, apparently. capcom X dimps with the composers from AKIRA and HAL just bug tested? probably what to expect for it's completely different take on kirby!
From the intro, what I got is that Masahiro experienced being a TF2 player, and had a genuine human reaction to the reality of toxic elitist gaming culture, so he decided to make Overwatch to be more inclusive.
Huh wouldn't mind if you video game story time about Davide Soliani sometime and the tale about Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, as it's quite the heartwarming one from wanting to be someone who wanted to make children happy with video games after seeing a child play a game on a game boy on a subway or bus to the leak that made everyone hate the idea of a Mario crossover with the Rabbids that discouraged him and his team to the eventual reveal of the game that made everyone turn around on the game with the cheers he got from it when it was eventually revealed at Ubisoft's stage at E3 2017 where everyone saw him cry tears of joy, I already see the moral being to not get discouraged by early talk or something because you may be validated for your hard work later Davide his team and the story of Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle is an interesting and heartwarming one.
Mr. Sakurai really needs a break to rest and play games, maybe he'll return with new ideas and start a fresh new franchise... to be stuck into... again...
Some slight corrections: He didn't create his own studio until after Brawl. That studio was named Project Sora and their only game was Kid Icarus: Uprising. Sora LTD is a limited liability company which manages Sakurai's personal contracts with other companies. It was set up for the purpose of Brawl as Nintendo does not like to make contracts with individuals. Sakurai didn't create the Mushiking Series. He created a Tamagotchi like spin-off for the series. Also, before leaving HAL he told Iwata to contact him if Nintendo were to make another Smash. Sakurai actually wanted to come back to Smash. Him leaving HAL was more about growing tired of climbing the corporate ladder and wanting to work with a diverse group of people. Overall, I enjoyed the video. I hope these corrections help you. I can provide sources if you would like.

Tendonitis is pretty common and it's in a lot of cases if your young temporary. I got it in my right leg from standing and walking too much

I'm rather impressed by Sakurai. When he was 19 he made the very first Kirby game, when I was 19 I was still in high school.

this made me curious what the last kirby game sakurai worked on was. and it was kirby and the amazing mirror, apparently. and it had a crazy development, apparently. capcom X dimps with the composers from AKIRA and HAL just bug tested? probably what to expect for it's completely different take on kirby!

From the intro, what I got is that Masahiro experienced being a TF2 player, and had a genuine human reaction to the reality of toxic elitist gaming culture, so he decided to make Overwatch to be more inclusive.

Huh wouldn't mind if you video game story time about Davide Soliani sometime and the tale about Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, as it's quite the heartwarming one from wanting to be someone who wanted to make children happy with video games after seeing a child play a game on a game boy on a subway or bus to the leak that made everyone hate the idea of a Mario crossover with the Rabbids that discouraged him and his team to the eventual reveal of the game that made everyone turn around on the game with the cheers he got from it when it was eventually revealed at Ubisoft's stage at E3 2017 where everyone saw him cry tears of joy, I already see the moral being to not get discouraged by early talk or something because you may be validated for your hard work later Davide his team and the story of Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle is an interesting and heartwarming one.

Some slight corrections:
He didn't create his own studio until after Brawl. That studio was named Project Sora and their only game was Kid Icarus: Uprising. Sora LTD is a limited liability company which manages Sakurai's personal contracts with other companies. It was set up for the purpose of Brawl as Nintendo does not like to make contracts with individuals.
Sakurai didn't create the Mushiking Series. He created a Tamagotchi like spin-off for the series.
Also, before leaving HAL he told Iwata to contact him if Nintendo were to make another Smash. Sakurai actually wanted to come back to Smash. Him leaving HAL was more about growing tired of climbing the corporate ladder and wanting to work with a diverse group of people.
Overall, I enjoyed the video. I hope these corrections help you. I can provide sources if you would like.
