    Sir, While taking sounding continuously their are lot of chance to damage the datum plate because of the metal bob attached to the end of steel tape, so how to fix it

    • @marine-knowledge-basha
      @marine-knowledge-basha  ปีที่แล้ว

      That will happen cant help it..only way is u have to use the tape slow and to stop gauge before it reaches the bottom level and slowly lowers with reference to the total height..
      it happens bcas of the bob hitting the plate at high speed...

    Sir correct me if i wrong can't the ullage be calculated from the actual height of tank minus value of sounding we got ... Because it seems to be very confusing also and we have to repeat this process two times for ullage value .... Please correct me sir if i am wrong

      Condition to take the sounding :
      * check for the ship trim while taking sounding.
      * weather condition should be calm.
      * There should not be any loading or discharging operation going on.
      * No pumping operation should be carried out from the tank which you taking sounding.

      Yes... I think so but here its calculation gets wrongs...
      2000 - 35 = 1965
      1965 + 407 = 2372

    • @marine-knowledge-basha

      Sir definitely there will be sounding for each tank... You will find the height of tank in sounding table.
      If you put more tape then you will get false reading..
      Hope this reply will satisfy your query..
