I'm a retired teacher myself, and I can assure you Hartley-Brewer is correct. The teacher (and the Headteacher at this school) should be sacked. They do not possess sufficient knowledge and professional skills to carry out their duties effectively. The teacher has no business in any classroom, and the Headteacher has no business managing any school. Believe it or not, but this school received a favorable OFSTED rating. This should tell you all you need to know about the mess we now find ourselves in.
If you were starting today would you still be prepared to teach in most UK schools? The reason we have teachers and headteachers like this is that very few capable people would touch teaching in a UK state school with a 10ft barge pole. I've taught in New Zealand, Germany and Italy. They are all far better places to teach than the UK, and I'm sure others could add many more countries to the list.

@@briantitchener4829 My experience of teachers, as a school kid, as a parent and as a school governor support your general assessment but probably 90% is harsh. I would put it at around 50%. There are some excellent teachers but many of them do it because of the long holidays and cushy pensions. They are OK bullying kids but wouldn't survive in the adult workplace. School as a pupil, then university and then back to school as a teacher. No expertise or knowledge outside of their little bubble.

I always believed that schools were for children not cats. If the child wishes to identify as a cat then the school should fully respect this and exclude the cat from their school. @@briantitchener4829 My experience of teachers, as a school kid, as a parent and as a school governor support your general assessment but probably 90% is harsh. I would put it at around 50%. There are some excellent teachers but many of them do it because of the long holidays and cushy pensions. They are OK bullying kids but wouldn't survive in the adult workplace. School as a pupil, then university and then back to school as a teacher. No expertise or knowledge outside of their little bubble.

The 'teacher' should be sacked and banned from ever being in a school again. The head of the school and their senior management team should also be sacked for allowing such nonsense to disrupt the education of the children. They should also be prevented from ever teaching in schools again. The school should be closed and all its teaching staff should be investigated. Any who are found to believe in any trains nonsense should also be excluded from the teaching profession. Education not Indoctrination!

I find the topic of sex and gender OK to discuss. You can be sure there will be different opinions. Nastiness should not be tolerated - and thirteen year olds can be arkward, and others, sensitive.

As a small child, I had what was called as an imagination....when playing by myself I used to pretend I was a horse, or a tiger, or a dragon, or indeed anything that had captured my imagination that day whether it be characters from books or films. I like to think I grew up ok, but I worry for my grandkids. Teachers like this are not fit for pupose.

When I was a kid my friends and I would run around the school yard neighing pretending we were horses. Imagination is part of being a kid. Once we were back in the classroom we were human kids again. What happens when kids are being told that they ARE what their imagination tells them they are? It’s cultivating mental illness.

I always believed that schools were for children not cats. If the child wishes to identify as a cat then the school should fully respect this and exclude the cat from their school. On second thoughts though, they could make some adaptations - I'm sure a bowl of cat food and water and a litter tray and cat flaps on the all doors would be perfectly reasonable. As for the curriculum for educating cats, maiowsic would be purrfect.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the children we're raising now will be tolerant adults BUT they're also going to ask us what the hell we were smoking to come up with this crap.
If this happened when i attended school i wouldnt have lasted five minutes. The kids i went to school with would not have put up with this. The expel rate would have been a real issue.
