After tracking everything you eat for about a month or two and weighing it on a scale, then evaluating your weight change every week based on your calories in/out, you get a very good handle on the amount of calories any food volume can have. After awhile you can just look at a donut or a slice of pizza and be like: "yep, that's 300-400 right there!" The easiest method I've found to lose weight has been eating once a day. You can still have some calorie dense days and you don't feel like you are missing out. I've lost about 60lbs in the last 5 months doing it this way.
It's true I mainly eat once per day, particularly Monday to Friday, and I've never felt better. I have a very active job, I gym 5 days per week, I'm never poorly or tired, and have great energy, my weight has stayed a solid 14stone for years now and I'm 46, all is good

me too, it is meant to be a well known thing for competitive eaters to do. I saw a video before and they said behind the scenes at some big contest they were all going off doing it.
I lost 20-25kg in 5 months by eating fast food and chocolate most of the time. Not healthy, wouldn't do that again, but there were days in which I sacrificed a meal of normal food just for the sake of chocolate, because I can't stop eating chocolate, so I had to do that in order to stick to my deficit. If I ate the food, I couldn't have helped myself from eating the chocolate too which would've nullified the deficit. Everything boils down to the amount of calories you eat, certain diets might make it harder to eat too many calories, but this stuff about insulin, sugar is just bullshit and the notion that less calories than you need, no matter where they're from, won't lead to weight loss is stupid.
@mayank.gaurav that's unlikely, I crave chocolate because I like how it tastes, anyway there's more foods I crave for the taste. Probably because I'm deficient in serotonin, ay? I think that people should adopt a diet that fits their goals rather than a "perfect" one. It’s the first that I see Beard Meets, and if it is the soundtrack we heard at the start of the video, he totally copied Furious Pete, one of the OG of eating and staying in shape here on TH-cam.
To quote an article on Harvard health school magazine ""This idea of 'a calorie in and a calorie out' when it comes to weight loss is not only antiquated, it's just wrong," says Dr. Fatima Cody Stanford, an obesity specialist and assistant professor of medicine and pediatrics at Harvard Medical School."
absolutely right. I tend to eat a take away on the weekend, but other than that, im eating 1000 calories a day for the remainder of the week, working out and loosing weight still. Ive lost 25 pounds on the last 6 weeks alone. I know, not too healthy I dont recommend every do that, but the princile remains the same
People who do binges like this often have anorexia, also ironically followed by an abnormally high metabolism. There was a 96 pound girl in the 80s that could eat insane amounts of food, she actually died from her intestines bursting.

Didn't like you when I was over 120Kg, I have no idea why. Denial perhaps? Over the last few days I've been watching a lot of your videos... I'm now about to go below 90Kg (with still some way to go but look forward to hitting my goal weight) and literally everything you say is bang on and aligns with what I have been discovering over the last few months. A very valuable subscription indeed - big newbie fan here!
I want to know how on earth Adam calculates the calories in the challenges he does - especially the ones where they increase his size just to try and catch him out. I also remember him saying he fasts a lot - like 24hrs prior to a challenge and probably after.
If you ate 10K calories in one sitting i wonder how much you would actually be able to absorb, like surely a good percentage just comes straight out the other end unprocessed. That's a rough mental image.
That’s funny cause I look at calorie counting like budgeting with money lol. Calories are currency and you have only x amount to spend each day so chose wisely. I been intermittent fasting and eating 1700-2000 cals per day losing 2-3lbs per week while trying to hold onto as much muscle as I can . I did no carb diet before and didn’t count calories and also lost weight like that but that diet is not sustainable. I eat carbs with my low cal and it’s very easy to do I don’t feel like I’m on a diet .
This is exactly what helped me. I approached food like money. You have a certain budget per week and you try to stick to it if you want to progress, both in weight gain and loss. Well said.
Firstly what is a calorie? The amount of energy present in the food. If you dried the food and set it on fire then if it burns to ash/ carbon then all calories burned. Agree? If you agree with this then what is a stool? If you dried that can you burn it? If the answer is yes then how many calories is ejected out of the back door? The body can only hold so much food at any one given time, it can only process a certain quantity too. Adam however overloads his system therefore i would have a guess and say he takes one enormous poop and gets shot of quite a large quantity of calories. Therefore all this math makes little to no sense. Think of your body like a car engine. Feed the engine a full tank of gas and drive it around when it stops the engine cools and then you’re now able to maintain the engine. Or you could feed the engine 1 litre of fuel and drive about on it for 10 mins then once it starts to cool down add another litre and continue this method all day, this engine never stops and cools down so when exactly are you going to do the maintenance on it? So as unhealthy as Adam’s food consumption is if it was scaled back i bet it would be considerably better for you rather than eating 6+ mini meals a day.
Any calories he gains from an eating challenge are burnt off when he scrubs the food out of his beard. Btw, I also say thank you to chat gpt. I also like to remind it that by using it, I'm helping the development of AI, just in case roko's basilisk comes looking for me in future.
in 2019 i cut 70lbs in 6months while still eating fast food, througout the week. also hitting places like chilli's and chinese buffets during the weekend. i ran twice a day for an average of 6 miles total and spent around 45mins daily lifting weight. you can definetly eat shitty food and lose weight. just have to burn more calories than you put in
I’ve seen some pro eaters discuss how they do it. First off most of them say they don’t eat anything for 36-48 hours before a challenge. That’s how they pound the food so effortlessly. So that’s anywhere from 4-6000 calories you can throw on top of the calories you need to bank. And they all hit the gym every day, stay very active and eat in a decent deficit for their non challenge days when they actually eat.
Some of these TH-cam guys are doing 3 or 4 challenges a week. That much fasting isn't even possible. Don't kid yourself, they're all throwing it up after.
@@SonnyK248 Joel Hansen does multiple challenges a week, for just one example. Also, I guess you don't realize that just because they may only upload one video per week, doesn't mean they're only doing one challenge per week. Lots do multiple a week and then upload on a schedule. Like I said, you're delusional if you think they're just counting calories and working out to stay lean.

110% guaranteed.
He hits the Gym hard and fasts in-between Eating binges
Great video I have learned a lot watching you! Additionally, I also say please and thank you when using chat GPT for the same reasons.......
Damn......so simple but so effective. I've been screwing it up for years. Right, time to change things round.
Worlds collide here. Love watching Adam's videos. Bloody impressive, yet disgusting.
James, we know you ate that food out of the bin liner after......😆
Didn't like you when I was over 120Kg, I have no idea why.
So cool to see you watch Beard also haha
Great video James thanks for the information.
And his ripped body is not of eating, he is in the gym all the time.
01:55 100% Agree
I want to know how on earth Adam calculates the calories in the challenges he does - especially the ones where they increase his size just to try and catch him out. I also remember him saying he fasts a lot - like 24hrs prior to a challenge and probably after.
If you ate 10K calories in one sitting i wonder how much you would actually be able to absorb, like surely a good percentage just comes straight out the other end unprocessed. That's a rough mental image.
@@BobZombiehe’s explained that. Many many many …. MANY times.
The bathroom afterwards is pure chaos for him 😂
True, only liquids...coffee and I think teas (well...englishman...)
calories in, calories out. Everything else is just filler arguments for people who can't actually be accountable.
9:56... that felt personal! 😀I am a cake eating bastard though.
Adam just has incredible cheat days and shares them with us all.
Any calories he gains from an eating challenge are burnt off when he scrubs the food out of his beard. Btw, I also say thank you to chat gpt. I also like to remind it that by using it, I'm helping the development of AI, just in case roko's basilisk comes looking for me in future.
Starting on Friday is such simple idea, yet such a good one. I can't believe I hadn't thought of this. Thanks James!
I was thinking how bad his beard smells from all the food that gets stuck in there lol
in 2019 i cut 70lbs in 6months while still eating fast food, througout the week. also hitting places like chilli's and chinese buffets during the weekend. i ran twice a day for an average of 6 miles total and spent around 45mins daily lifting weight. you can definetly eat shitty food and lose weight. just have to burn more calories than you put in
I’ve seen some pro eaters discuss how they do it.
@@evictioncarpentry2628 Who's doing that many a week? 😂
Scott eats is another one, he sometimes does 2 challenges in a day. He eats healthy otherwise and is in the gym every day. He is also ripped.
For me, everything about competitive eating is a bit gross. But somehow i adore Beard.
McDonald’s is garbage lol never eating there 😂great information❤
Hope beard reacts to this, been watching him for years. Very charming fella.
I’m glad to know I’m not the only one who thinks about being polite to ChatGPT.
2:13 This used to be exactly my favourite McD order as well :D Havent eaten this in 2 years since I have become aware how much shit in ultra processed foods are...
