I didn’t mention this in the video because I did not know you could do this, otherwise I would have. I generally discourage 3rd party alternatives. - The 50 cents seems less about money and more about preventing kids from getting around parental supervision. Not many kids have access to credit cards, and parents would likely see a charge if a kid swiped their card. A 50 cent credit card charge would be odd, and the fees for swiping the card would likely cancel out most profit anyways. - I was unable to go back to the seller and get the password because it was an estate sale, and the original owner had passed away. My nephew got a dsixl for his birthday from a pawn shop and can't use it bc the parental code is set to the highest setting and we don't know the code and still like 4 years later it don't work .I mean he can play certain games but can't connect to the internet or anything else and with the e shop getting shut down soon there isn't much hope in getting it sorted out

There’s a website that does this for free… It’s how I reset it my 3DS after putting in a parental password I forgot, it had the option for Wiiu and older versions of switch

@@MortsGarage unethical/illegal is a very Nintendo-colored glasses way on looking at it, think about when Nintendo finally stops offering codes to help people reset their systems, with the eshops closing I wouldn't be surprised if all their support pages for Wii U and 3ds systems to go down as well to focus on the Switch, codes will stop being generated, consoles will end up with no way of playing, and to me that's more unethical than any other possible way to unlock your system, having a system just sitting there, collecting dust unable to ever be played again. That's just my opinion anyways
On the 3ds there's a free program called "salt" that let's you get rid of the parental controls. My mom used it when she got me a second hand 2ds when I was a kid.

I think the main reason they charge is to prevent kids from unlocking the parental controls, hence the minuscule fee. I don’t think they’re making money on that.
I remember as a kid when I was being locked out of my 3DS by parental controls I would literally just sit for a couple hours watching TV and brute forcing the code digit by digit until it unlocked lol. It didn't have a proper lockout feature if you guessed wrong too many times iirc it just kicked you out after 3 tries and you could just go right back in.

I had to do this once. I didn’t have the emails for all of the alt users I had made as a kid, so I had to contact customer support and go through this process. I lost quite a lot which is sad but now I have a fresh slate and at least I bothered to check my play time before I wiped it for a few games, most notably Splatoon 1 with around 423 hours! I had to buy it again cuz disc broke but I was able to use my other discs which was nice :)

I only got into that mess because my disc for it broke, and I couldn’t buy it digitally. I can play it now, but it is a little sad knowing how much I had to sacrifice :/

I had to do this for my 3ds that I've had since 2012. My dad had set parental controls, and by the time I was old enough to you know, not be stupid on the internet XD, my dad forgot it. I couldn't figure out how to reset everything so I could update it, so it wasn't until recently (I'm 18 btw) that I figured it out. :)
So it's basically similar to the process in Wii, the other day my dad gifted me a Wii he bought and it had parental controls, it was pretty much the same so I could wipe it clean Except for the fee, it's complete free in Wii
I got a PS2 from my local trade in video game store. The previous owners set DVD parental controls and I don't have the code so that kinda sucks. Though I have plenty of other ways of watching DVDs. What really shocks me though is it specifically blocks all Disney DVDs.

Wii U was actually really fun because of Splatoon and Nintendo Land. Most of the time we just used it for our Wii discs though.
It's my main use for the system as well - the best version of the Wii.

There's a key generator that's online for 3ds and Wii U now. Free of charge and it's super easy to use. It's called Mkey.

There are websights that do this for free btw and they work with dsi, 3ds, wii and wiiU
