    Best practice is never give an exit interview. If the company wants you to provide consultation, they will pay for it.

      Though it’s completely an employee’s choice but If you are in good terms with the management and you wish to highlight some issues, it’s worth having an exit interview.

      Never do exit interview. There is zero upside to doing one.

    1. Once youd decide to leave, never ever give a second thought
    2. Once you have informed your boss about your resignation, immediately send written email. there are lot of monsters who will delay it, so that you will have lesser time to think

      Focus on end result and what you can control based on your experience to keep your emotions in check with the organization. Exit process is a temporary phase and it passes peacefully when we do not pay attention to what others are trying to achieve by taking our peace away.

    Stuff like this messes you up. Stop thinking about your current company the moment you decide to leave. This "by the book" stuff is what the companies want you to do to make things easy for themselves. Remember it's a number game, & no one will remember you a month after you have moved on. Even the bad stuff you have done. The only things that go forward is a generic release & experience letter. Just do enough to get those things right, & a timely release. Companies make these processes extremely cumbersome & you already will be dealing with a lot to achieve these basic parameters. So do not burden yourself with any excess responsibilities while trying to be "generous & kind". Most of the time you will be leaving the company because the company itself has not been generous & kind to you & it has not offered you enough scopes for growth that you deserved. Remember, you are working for yourself & not the company, & it's not your company to manage, so quit punishing yourself to make things easy on your company. & stop listening to videos like these. It's all a number game & companies are just trying to fill up empty spaces statistically rather than emotionally.

    What would be the purpose of an exit interview days after a termination?
    Long story short:
    I was a facilities director for a nursing facility. I was terminated as a result of a DOH survey involving a lot of things out of my control and a few left from my predecessor before covid. I had sent an email detailing my dedication to the facility and things that I'd done to show that dedication as well as some detailed reasons as to why we had a hard time keeping up with the workload (covid, botched renovation, employee turnover, lack of employee abilities, and deteriorating health of an employee). I worded it as professionall as possible and sent it to the administrator as well as the owners. A few days later i received an email from a higher up in the company that just became part owner asking if I'd be willing to do an exit interview.
    I agreed to do it, hoping they may see that a mistake was made. What are your thoughts on why this higher up would request an exit interview?

    What if the manager said to the employee that the employee has no worth in the organization and a micromanager and that he constantly was making snide remarks on age of the employee.

      These are the actions of a bad manager. The employee must feel happy to leave his department. Still my recommendation for employee is to leave with dignity without offering extended assistance or badmouthing the management. We must learn from some people - what we don’t want to become.

What if one phrases like this, I am deeply thankful to my boss and the leadership team for letting me work here even when the organization saw no worth in me and last week my boss told me how he had to spend more time on managing my perception and worth rather than the actual project work, I decided not to burden anyone anymore and it was time to move on I want to thank you for all the opportunity given to me.

      I disagree with the bitterness of an employee mentioning specific behavior of a boss and taking it personally. There is no benefit in doing so, instead leave with a polite message of getting an opportunity to work with the organization. Your boss or colleagues may be contacted for reference check. You never know whom you cross paths with in future. Good luck!

    The reason that they doing exit is becuase they dont want you to sue them in the future for wrongful termination. Never do exit interviews specially if you been laid off.

    I work in the medical billing and coding industry. I decline exit interviews. All they get is my two weeks notice. All We ever need are great references. Love or hate the boss.... but you owe them nothing!

      Completely with you on this, there’s no need of an exit interview if you are completing the exit paperwork and handover formalities before leaving.

    During this covid phase when everybody's working from home, is it mandatory to submit a resignation letter in person? Or a mail heads-up would do, followed by interactions with your bosses?

      Your question missed the greetings ( hi, please, thanks), being courteous is a good quality, however below is the answer.
      In my opinion written communication in the form of email is fine to resign professionally.

    what if you are on bench and still serving 3 month notice period. When boss is using 3 month as deterrant to stop employee to join new organization

      In this case you follow your own strategy. At the end you want smooth exit, pacifying your boss temporally is a good idea.

    hi currently i am on notice period for 3 months. company is forcing me sign document that i will not join competior (Non solocation and competence). In the clause say that i will not join competitor for next 1 year.. They are even threating me not to clear FNF and releving letter,along with the they are refusing me pay gratuity as i have worked for 7 years in my current organisation, saying there is no such policy in our oraganisation. Please suggest should i sign the document without my will.

      You must not sign a non competitor agreement. Some organizations mention this clause in employment contract but it has to be completed/ signed at the time of onboarding. A leaving employee is not obligated to sign any documents except handover paperwork. Let me know how does it goes.

      Review your employment contract, onboarding manual and all the policies you have access to. If they create more problem be prepared to complain in the labor department.

      @@Careervues thanks for your reply..I have joined the organisation in year 2015 but that time there was no such clause in the letter..they have added this recently on our appraisal letters...along with that they are forcing me complete my notice period of 3 months..but in resignation letter I have clearly mentioned that I can only serve 2 months as my wife is expecting on Oct month and there is no one in our family to take care of her..and iam also ready to buy my notice period. Even I got 16 leaves in my account, they are not agreeing on both. Now even they have copied third party law firm in our mail communication

      @@Careervues iam working as. Manger data analysis..my job is skilled based..can they bound me to join competitor organisation for 1 year? As there is nothing mentioned on what should I do for my living in 1 year..for e.g a person working in bata shoes company and he is making shoes there then in his next organisation adidas he is making shoes there also..so can bata restricted him to not join adidas as it's there competitor
