I figured there had to be a few here that would know what a flux brush is 😂 Slips have been really aggravating me lately. They all seem to be larger and less efficient than what is possible. That is what gives me the motive to do something about it. I went out in the garage to work around 10PM so there was no chance of getting a proper brush, it was time to improvise. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
Really enjoyed this video. You focused on the process of construction and the slips perfectly. No hype, or any excessive stall with convoluted remarks. 10 stars for professionalism. Very interesting as well. GREAT job. Please make more. I'll watch them all I absolutely love knife slips. Whole new EDC function/ fashion pocket accessorie.
Thanks! On this channel I do quite a bit of crafting and repair, not just knife reviews. I haven't made a leather video in quite some time. It is about time for an update. I'll start thinking about the content for it.
I forgot to mention in the video, but if any of you want to make them don't feel bad about copying the design. The slip has design elements copied from various places combined into one. There is really nothing new here. I just sat down over the weekend with the idea in mind to build a better mouse trap! I just put my Lake Champlain Barlows in the slip. They actually fit, I couldn't believe it. Those Barlows are big knives! It is amazing what it holds for a slip sized identically to Jack Wolf slips. I still have to get that wallet pattern out to you. I'll try to ship it by Monday or Tuesday.
I do have an Etsy store, but these slips are not listed yet. The one in the video was a prototype. I have been carrying it for 2 weeks now, and it is my favorite slip. Next will be a slightly larger one and a slightly smaller one. If you really want one of these slips, send me an email. The address is in the about section of my channel page.
I know, it almost doesn't seem right how big of a knife fits in the slip! These are what I am going to be using from now on. When I get a little time I will make 3 different sizes of this design to test.
That’s awesome Pepsi slip. You did and awesome job wow really impressive. You be lifting some LBS. good for you that’s something to be proud of to have a job a family plus leather and knives plus time to lift. HOPE YOU AND YOUR FAMILY HAVE A HAPPY THANKSGIVING 🦃🍁🍽 😊😊😊😊😊😊
Thanks, slips are something that have been bugging me lately, so I decided to do something about it! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving! I figured I better reply now because pretty soon I'll be to stuffed to move 🤣🤣
Thanks for taking a look! The red, white, and blue slip is a prototype. It's the first time I am messing with leather paint. There will be another one with some improvements in the near future.
Excellent knife slip comparison and presentation. Your logic makes perfect sense. Thanks for posting this video. I wish you and yours a very Happy Thanksgiving! Cheers, RW
Awesome sir! I need to learn how to make these for myself. Just a thought. Maybe take some sandpaper to the red, white and blue before you add the clear coat. To give it a little bit of a worn look.
That is a good idea. I haven't carried the red, white, and blue slip yet. I'll have to see how fast it wears to know for sure, but I like the idea of a little pre-wear o ra distressed look!
Excellent video Ken!!!! I have just started using a slip about 2 months ago, and I am struggling with the proper combination!! This video has helped me a lot!!! Thanks for sharing 👍 and have a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend 😀
Wow! Great comparisons here! you have way more slips than I have! makes for a great video for sure! Im a big J.O. Ventures fan but everyone has different needs in a slip. Yours are very nice! and its also nice to not have the knife fall over in your pockets. Love your red white and blue slip! looking forward to the clear coat!
Slips are like knives, always searching for the best one 😁 I think the new design that I compared to the Jack Wolf slip is a home run! It is small but yet swallows up fairly large knives. The reason that I make stuff is it is the only way that I can get a product that does exactly what I want.
I was thinking about doing something similar to what you've done, but instead of slightly rounding the bottom corners, I was going to use two opposing quater circles (kind of an "S" shape). I think I might like you solution better. I'll probably try both to see which I prefer. I have on of the C. Risner slips and don't care much for it as I think the cut off bottom corners expose to much of the knife. A barlow can slip right out of one of the bottom corner cutouts. Knivesshipfree used to have one (don't know if they still make it)that was similar to what I was thinking of doing. I think I like your solution better. I also have a few Collector knives slips and like them. Although they have a slightly rounded bottom. The ones I've made could be said to have been fashioned after them.
@@ghostrider-813 The most important thing that I have found is don't run the stiching all the way to the bottom. Leave room for the bottom of the slip to expand to fit the knife. Any bottom shaping seems to work fine when the stitches are stopped a little short.
I can't believe it! I checked this morning and the Lake Champlain Barlow actually fits flush in the slip! The clip point is good but the sheepsfoot fits snug. I think a 1/8" wider and taller would be perfect for these knives.
Perfection based on analysis ... looks classy, sleek, and holds the larger knives. Nice job, LCK. Amazed at your paint lines with flux brushes.

@@LastChanceKnives You and yours as well !
I liked the dark brown, first and second ones you did. Great work, Man! 🤙🏼

Nicely done! I like making "double" slips for carrying a knife and a mini torch, for example.
I have made some of those too. More like a pocket organizer. On most days I prefer to keep the flashlight clipped to a pocket for fast access.

Thanks! It is about time for me to do another video on slips. This time maybe a how to.
I think you did a great job on these. Obviously you are not making these to sell but I would buy one in a heartbeat. Good work.

Great comparison video. I didn’t realize there was such a big difference in fitment made by a little design difference.

Never really thought about it but it does make sense to have a slip that fits multiple knives .. I really appreciated the video.. thanks for sharing 👍

Great design on the slips. Happy Thanksgiving !

What size knife are you looking to carry in a slip? Have a blessed Thanksgiving!
I carry a 4 in knife on average, most all the time.

Man I am starting to think there's nothing you can't do, I need one of those new slips that you made like the Jack Wolf for my Champlain Barlow,
