ജൂലൈ 18, ചൊവ്വാഴ്ച്ച ജന നിബിഢമായിരുന്നു ഉമ്മൻ ചാണ്ടിയുടെ ജഗതിയിലെ പുതുപ്പള്ളി വീട്. പ്രിയ നേതാവിനെ അവസാനമായി കാണുവാൻ ജനങ്ങളും പാർട്ടി പ്രവർത്തകരും തടിച്ചു കൂടി. വേദനയോടെയുള്ള മുദ്രാവാകങ്ങളുടെ നടുവിലൂടെ ഉമ്മൻ ചാണ്ടി എന്ന ജനപ്രിയ നേതാവിന്റെ ബൗദ്ധിക ശരീരം കൊണ്ടുവന്നു. ഉമ്മൻ ചാണ്ടിക്ക് പകരം വെയ്ക്കാൻ മറ്റാരുമില്ല എന്ന് കൂടിയിരുന്നവർ ഒരേ സ്വരത്തിൽ പറയുന്നു.
