This video was exactly what I was looking for, thanks! The Crunchlab is one of my all time favorite 6 string bridges, and I'm happy to say it sounded killer in your demo.
+Chris Vũ K Awesome, I’m glad I could help! I’m definitely happy with both of the Dimarzio pickups! Do stay tuned and subscribe as I’m going to have more demos & reviews coming soon!
The Crunch Lab 7 sounds great. I have it in the bridge position on my Ibanez 7string guitar. It sounds massive and heavy.. huge lows and clarity at high gain and high volume settings. And with the right amps and/or distortion pedal..it sounds damn killer! Seriously. 😎🤘🤘🤘❤
but what did you think of them? Crunch lab I think sounded punchier and clearer generally, especially for distorted rhythm ? Cant tell if I'm biased because I dont like my FEs in my RGA iron label
Thank you for watching, if you enjoyed please consider subscribing! I personally could not be happier than after the new set in this guitar. The Liquifire and Crunch Lab have a nice focus that the Fusion Edge did not have! I like the FEs on my 6 string for some reason, I just didn’t like it for what I need out of the 7! I think the longer scale length and Mahogany wood of the RGD just did not mesh right. But, 10/10 would buy the Liquifire & Crunch Lab set again! ;-)
Hey! Was good being able to see some demoing of this Ibanez as I've been meaning to get into electric guitars now, and as I'm scouting for a 7 String, this one caught my eye as it seems to have quite the bells and the whistles one would love to have, and it just looks so amazing. The pricing is quite something though, and with the Liquifire and Crunchlab it sounded pretty great, and pretty much what I'd like to get out of it, except that would chase the price even further up. I'd like to know though, are there perhaps any 7 String you'd recommend that's in a cheaper price range for starters that would be great for someone who's only getting started and don't have a massive budget, let's say anything under $1000? Thank you, and would love to see more of this beauty in the future 😎✌
Thank you for watching, glad you enjoyed it! From my own personal experience an Ibanez RG7421 might be a good option, I’ve got one from about 2016 and it is what really made me fall in love with 7 strings they seem to be about $399-499 so good price and room to add whatever upgrades you might want. Otherwise, I actually have my eyes personally on the PRS Holcomb 7 string as well, I’ve played a few of those and while not right on par with this one I used in the video, it’s really great! If you enjoyed tuning in do please consider subscribing!
@@kevinunderwoodmusic Thank you for your suggestions. I'll definitely take a look at them, and being able to upgrade and add sounds like the way to go once I get more comfortable with knowing what's what haha. Have fun with it, and I'll definitely see you around. This guitar made me sub so i can hear it more 😎😋
What I've realized with the Fusion Edge pickups is that they're good on their own, great even with the right tone settings, but in comparison to other pickups like the Liquifire and Crunchlab, there's something lacking in the voicing of these pickups and they simply don't offer the bite, grit or aggression those pickups do or the crystalline cleans either. It's a shame, cause these guitars are quite expensive and deserve better voiced pickups. I wish Ibanez went back to offering Bareknuckle Pickups for their RGD7 Prestige guitars. Oh well. I'm still buying the new RGDR4427FX. Only reason I didn't buy the model you're playing is because of the trem and locking nut. Now that they're offering a fixed bridge again, that's the RGD I'll finally buy. Been dreaming of buying one since the first RGD 7 string was revealed. Anyway, great demo. The Liquifire and Crunchlab pickups still hold up after so many years!
Well thank you for tuning in! The Fusion Edge kinda get a hard rep I think, in my 6 string prestige I absolutely love them! There’s just something lacking for them in this particular guitar. For how the RGD have always been sold as like metal beasts for low tunings, I think something like Fishman, Bareknuckle, or even dimarzio D sonic & Air Norton might be more honed for them. I think this guitar is probably my absolute favorite to play, the neck is amazing, and that hardtail looks fantastic! If all pans out correctly I should be reviewing one of the new RGD Axion Label models around March/April & I’m very excited to try it! Again, thanks for watching & there’s more on the way soon!
I agree completely, I have a set in my 6 string and absolutely love them in it! I just think with the lower register this model is sold in, longer scale length, and body-wood it just doesn’t “stick the landing” here.
+ShredGuitar Afraz Nope it was all a direct fit! I also changed it for John Petrucci’s old center positioning for the pickup selector. So it’s just the inner single coils in middle position.
Thank you so much for the comments & I completely agree with your thoughts on the tonality of the Crunch Lab! The Liquifire also has a wonderful glassy clarity to it that complements perfectly! I’m in the middle of setting up my new studio and as soon as that is complete my aim is to have new videos at least 2 or more times a month. If you don’t mind hitting that subscribe button that would mean the world! Stay tuned and harmonize this world!
Oh my goodness, thank you so much that means the absolute world to me that you enjoyed this so much! Just a heads up, I have moved into a new studio and as soon as I’m fully setup my goal is for at least two new videos a month! Gear reviews, demos, covers and more! See you soon!
I’ve certainly had more experience with Dimarzio, I think my ears from players I love and look up to have also shaped my ears more towards them! Though I have heard several Duncans that were very close to what I chose for this guitar. This set just beat them out by a hair! Might test some more pups in my other 7 string soon!
I believe so, I think most prestige Ibanez are stainless steel... but unfortunately I’m not seeing that listed on the specs. From what I can tell visually and feel wise I’d say they are.

Fusion Edge 7 sounded more warm / chug to my ears :) I prefer Fusion Edge pickups
+Özgür Ö. I’m actually going to be putting the fusion edges in my other 7 string! Just wasn’t into them with this guitar.

I can't wait until those RGDR4427FXs ship.
The fusion edge isnt the best but I think they get way more hate than they deserve. They sound great especially for lead/solo playing.

after demo is loud..high gain and great low end.
its so I feel wide renge.
your play so passion & emotional.

I'm planning to do exactly this with my RGD. Was it easy to fit the crunchlab and liquifire in? Any modifications required to the cavities?

Replaced my fusion edge with alpha omegas and couldnt be happier

And awesome demo Mr Kevin Daniel! Clear sound thus we could hear the differences in the sounds/tones of those pickups.

Dimarzio pickups have so much more clarity than Seymour Duncans.

Does it come with stainless steel frets?

@@kevinunderwoodmusic that's good to know. I've been trying to find out and Ibanez weirdly doesn't list them in the spec.
Sounds like Whitechapel
