Love that we are finally exploring the theme of isolation = bad in wow. I think it was present, maybe not intentionally, from the very beginning of the franchise. And it gives me hope for the future
Definitely there intentionally. The whole story of Warcraft 3 is both factions consolidating and becoming more than isolationist tribes. The Tauren, Trolls and Orcs were all individualist factions that came together in the Horde. The night elves especially where copped up in their forests. And over the course of WoW we've seen countless examples of what happens to factions that decide alone is best. The Furbolg corruption, the dark iron, the Skittari, the Drakkari, the Yongul... Time and time again if you stand alone you wither, get corrupted and die. Tl:Dr, Isolation bad has been a core of the franchise forever.
Here I am trying to contain my hype and then you come along AND MAKES ME EVEN MORE HYPE! I absolutely loved Anduins and Alleria's short story. Great video as always!
I would like to mention that it seems that isolation is something that seems to increase the whispering of the void and seeing that Alleria is trying so hard to distance herself form her familly it is haveing a bad effect on her. In the short story Alleria stops hearing the whispers when she spends time with her son and husband and even when they speak to her she just tells them to shut up. Most void-touched mortals seclude themselfes as they either see themselfes as a threat to others or they want to study void alone which increases the whispers. While light seems to draw more on being calm, calculated and fanatical to a cause, but it is stronges when emotions are mixed in. Void is more personal it wants to feel your feelings and know your fears it draws on your emotions but it's most powerfull for the user when you find ballance and stay calm like locust walker.
You mentioned it briefly here but I would love to see you guys cover the War of the Scaleborn novel as a whole in a future video. For whatever reason it's slipped under the radar of a lot of people but there is so much great stuff in it. It's an ACTUAL morally grey conflict with really great characterization and insight into how beings like dragons would conduct politics and warfare. I think it has the bite and "Warcraft" vibe that a lot of people have been missing from the rest of Dragonflight's story.
Hi, we cover a good portion of the war of the scaleborn in our Dracthyr video! It’s a bit on the old side, so the quality isn’t at the same level as the new stuff
Such an absolutely great insight. I couldn’t agree more with everything you said. I always said that Alleria’s journey is about her reuniting with her family not one of confrontation!
One of Alleria's big problems is she's a wrecking ball. She never stops to think, she MUST act, at all times. Sylvanas has this trait too, but whenever she did so, she lost. Sylvanas is more dangerous than Alleria because she has the ability to sit back and think. She also says things that show that she's always thinking about her experiences and what everything means. Alleria doesn't have that kind of introspection. Alleria is like Sylvanas if she didn't have patience for anything, which makes her really vulnerable.
So here's what I think will happen. In the War Within we will witness this personal conflict between Alleria and Xal'atath. The winner of this conflict will be Xal'atath, and TWW will be the first WoW expansion in which we lose. Our defeat may be caused in large part by Alleria. In the most recent WoW story involving her, it has been clearly establised that she is imbalanced because of her being split between being a mother and wife, and also being a void-wielding badass that has to save the world. Even Locus Walker warns her about this (and she will probably not listen, given Alleria's personality, established over the years). So, in the end, her defeat is caused by her choosing to save her family, rather than stopping Xal'atath (it could be something cliche and simple like Alleria saving Arator, but thus wasting the time she needed to stop Xal'atath, but it could obviously be something more complex than that). Whatever the details of that, ultimately, the war within Alleria herself causes our defeat and the launch of the invasion of her homeland, Quel'thalas. As such, her story in Midnight is one of seeking redemption in the eyes of her people (and maybe even family, considering that Arator may be mad at her for choosing to save him instead of their people) and trying again to stop Xal'atath (now this part I am not sure of, but I think there's a small possibility Alleria is actually the Child of Light and Shadow, since she did consume the power of a naaru, a being of both light and shadow, and maybe this combination of the two inside of her ultimately allow her to cleanse the Sunwell and stop the Void, but I know I am kind of reaching at this point lol). From here, the story of Midnight could end in two ways: My favorite version would be Alleria ultimately sacrificing herself to save Quel'thalas. Though her people were distrustful of her, and maybe even despised her in life, the story now ends with a statue of her being built at the gates of Silvermoon, and we get a nice parallel to A Thousand Years of War regarding Arator visiting his mother's statue (yes, yes, it's cheesy and cliche, but I like it and it's the kind of stuff Blizzard can do well). Of course, Alleria may also survive Midnight, but in that case, her role in The Last Titan would probably be minimal, which is why I think a heroic death in Midnight would be a more dramatic conclusion to her story (plus there's no way both her and Turalyon survive that war, come on).
Amazing video as always and this type of storyline could have either the best payoff or be pretty underwhelming either way I can't wait to see how everyone's character arc develops during war withing and if Alleria's arc goes for longer into midnight
Great video! Looking forward to the War Within! I think Alleria and Turalyon are going to duke it out and MAYBE we'll be getting a character death. :3c The DRAMA! (Void Anduin when?)
That would be extremely off brand for both characters. Regardless the fact that Alleria fights a shadow of Turalyon that has been warped by Xal if anything shows that she is not going to fight the actual guy, but that very same corrupted memory
Alleria is easily my favorite Windrunner sister, but I really hope we see more of the third sister, Vareesa, in Midnight. Sylvanas is pretty much guaranteed to be coming back, and Alleria has too much at stake in the narrative to die in TWW. What better time would there be for the Windrunner sisters to reunite and reconcile (and kick void butt together) than in the definitive elf expansion?
@@patrikzotaj4528 I know that might be what you want, but if Blizz didn’t want Sylvanas to return eventually she would have been executed at the end of Shadowlands. Keeping a character alive means the writers are done with them yet.
Special thanks to Zickdotexe for helping with the script of this video!
got a thing for anduin after that cinematic? ...me too
like your stuff dude, especially that moon guard video keep it up!
Platinum!! Omg!!
Hearing you say that has made my year, I hope to one day make stuff that’s half as good as yours!
If you and platinum could do a video together, my lore nerdy heart would explode!!!
I especially like the part where she asserts all white men are violent by nature. Great content
Xal'atath is truly my favorite kitchen utensil.
KITCHEN UTENSIL !?

Great video y'all! Really enjoying your content and awesome to see more coming out all the time!
Lovely video as always, it is really neat hearing both of your opinions on the story within wow!

Loved Pierza in this one!
0:18 Forget Anduin x Wrathion now I want Anduin x Sixsten fanfics 🥰
I would read that!
calling it now Alleria loses the fight to the void and they have to pull her sis out of the Maw to save her that way Sylvanas can be redeemed
FAVORITE KITCHEN UTENSIL IM DEAD 😂

The moral of the story is to not be emo and accept help
Effectively Alleria needs to get over herself.
Hello guys! can some one help me and point what addon shes is using at 7:37 ? thanks so much
Dialogue is the name of the add on!
ah yes another windrunner story. what can go wrong
