The use of pictures, model viewer characters, and backgrounds really made this interesting for me. It's a story I knew already, but the way you told it was very interesting and informative, as I did not know every detail (mostly the stuff from the black and white manga). I'll definitely have to stay on top of all your videos to test my lore knowledge and remind myself of stuff! :)
Thank you :) Yeah this one was the hardest one to make (so far). Only a very few pictures of Aegwynn, none of the council = lots of time spend on creating it myself ^_^
Its sad in a way It was not Medivh's fault that he did all he did. His mother had failed as a guardian, becoming arrogant and full of pride and unwilling to listen to the advice or wisdom of others and believing that she was the greatest of them all. As a result, her son was corrupted even before he was born and she helped the burning legion let the corrupted orc horde into azeroth and caused countless innocent deaths in the first and second war and worst of all robbed her son of having a life of his own. He was forever bound to the mistakes of his mother and was dammed by them. He may have become one of azeroths greatest guardians and passed the torch to Khadgar when the time came who is a worthy guardian even now. Instead he is remmeberd as a failure and the reason azeroth no longer has a guardian. (Minus Me'dan of course."
"But if you weren't impressed, if you didn't want me, then why did we...?" "Because, as powerful a mage as I am, I cannot create sperm out of thin air and self-fertilize."
The name Medivh rings me a very old nostalgic memories back in warcraft 1 orcs vs humans i had the objective to kill him.A purple mage who could shoot fire so fast.Even in wc1 he still kicked ass.
Great video Nobbel! I have to ask: What is your opinion on Sargeras appearing in the World of Warcraft? Do you think he would be able to live up to the the hype of being the ultimate Warcraft villain? I would hate to see him become just another loot piñata in LFR.
He will most likely never appear. Blizzard rather focuses on "imaginary" villains like all the Old Gods, Garrosh and whoever the hell we will face in WoD than to actually progress the plot.
Nobbel87 We will come up against him at some point the question is when and how. Though I to think that he should not be defeated by the players directly.
I actually hope that we will be able to battle Sargeras. He ...the one...the ultimate evil the uber boss. BUT i wouldnt like to see him in WoW as this game has already reached and surpassed it's peak. What i would wish for is a final conlusion in a Warcraft 4 game. *hoping* Just imagine, all those lovely quests, characters, battles, eastereggs, and the story. An almost nostalgic feeling would surface as we progress our heroes in the ultimate story to peace. Like we once fought Archimonde at Hyjal and all those epic fights in WoW. Now we stride against our ultimate enemy. Imagine Warcraft 4 the path against evil, we'd maybe kill kil'jaeden then after this great sucess Sargeras has no other way as to finally show himself. Thus comes the expansion/add-on. For the last time we have to bring up all of our might to this EPIC fight * getting goose bumps*. What would be the conclusion...? Who knows...maybe we would even fail... but only the thought of it is...so ...staggering. And now the end of my nerdy fanboy dreams. *still hoping* xD
Thank you so much on the background of Medivh, he was by far one of the most interesting people I wanted to know. I can't get enough of the way you tell the story of WoW and learning so much to tell us. Thank You.
Nobbel I've just started reading the Wow books and can I just say, It is so so awesome after gaining an interest in some of the characters in the books to come here and find out more from you. Thank you so much for all the videos =)
Im a hugefan of WoW lore, and you are doing a great job it would be nice to see these more often because i keep checking your youtube page everyday for more lore, I cannot get enough of it!! :D lore-oholic 100%. Keep up the good stuff!
Nobbel i love your videos, i could honestly listen to you talk about anything, and find it interesting! Thanks for making lore videos keep it up you're AWESOME.
Medivh is definately one of the best characters in wow and one of if not my favorite. Ive read the last guardian 3 times(yes, 3. I was bored), last night began rereading it again, and in minecraft i recreated karazhan, and with thaumcraft, a magic mod, makes it so much better. Great vid as always nobbel, though just saying u should have made this a guardian series part 1 2 3 etc because of course thats what it is- a series
Nobbel, I love your videos, the lore behind WoW always makes me want to jump back into it. I've even read a few of the novels that you've suggested. Keep up the amazing job.
Should definitely let in some lore about sargeras and kil'jaeden. i'd love to know more about the sinister burning legion and how they were behind almost every incident in the warcraft lore
Fun fact, if you have the old legendary staff of the great guardian from the original Naxxaramas equipped when you fight Aran he has special quotes for you. @Parker Norman: Yes, you would be correct, the Black Morass used to be a massive zone, that contained both the Blasted Lands and the Swamp of Sorrows. After the portal opening and a bunch of other stuff happening the zones were renamed due to their shifts in geography. (According to what I just read on the WoWwiki) Here's the really weird thing though, back in Vanilla I used to run around the Swamp of Sorrows a lot and I could have sworn there was a Dark Portal like structure in it that was inactive. Maybe I'm wrong, but it also seemed more in line with the portal we see in the instance of Black Morass, and as far as I can recall, it was positioned more like the one in the instance too... All of which lead me to believe the Blasted Lands portal was actually a different one, but maybe I'm just crazy and remembering it wrong.
Nobbel, great job!! Ik vind het echt geweldig om je lore video's te zien, ik ben ook een lore nerd en het meeste wist ik al :P maar het is gewoon zo goed hoe jij het verteld!! Keep up the good work, and i'm looking forward to the things you'll be making with WoD! :D
This is like part 1 of Aegwynn's and Medivh's lore. there's also the resurrection story arc, and the Med'an arc (which I assume will be covered next time with Garona).
Nobbel this was a great video about aegwynn and Medivh, but I would have liked you to talk about the last moment outside Karazhan where Khadgar met with Medivh or a vision of him. It could have explained alot about how he was in warcraft 3 and etc.
Woah woah wait...at 1:00 you said that one of the apprentices was named Falric, right? Is that the same Falric who later joined Arthas in his expedition to Northrend? Sorry if I'm missing something i can't remember how long of a time difference was between these events and the events of the frozen throne.
Nobbel, neilas aran actually WAS a member of the council- in the last guardian, when shes saying "im leaving you." she tells him that he had the most potential as a member of the council, and that he would have to go off and tell his fellow council members what he had done. Nobody outisde the council (but a select few) know of its existence, much less its membership. Neilas aran was a affiliated with the council. His job as court conjuror was more of a "day job" if you will.
So if the Council hadn't chosen a powerhungry woman as the Guardian, then Sargeras couldn't have possessed an unborn child with huge magical potential to later create the Dark Portal, let the orcs into Azeroth and fuck everything up. That wouldn't have given Ner'zhul the possibility to fail his master and be turned into the Lich King to weaken Lordaeron. That would have made an invasion impossible for the Burning Legion. That would have made the Horde on Azeroth nonexistent. That would have made a unified Alliance, still with high elves, on Eastern Kingdoms, and the night elves living happily under the guidance of Cenarius in Kalimdor without problems. The Darkpsear tribe probably would have been sacrificed to the Sea Witch, and the Bloodhoof tribe slaughtered by centaurs. And here I thought the Council was made of wise men ...
mojrer Why? No Dark Portal = no Horde, no Twilight's Hammer cult, no Scourge, no freeing of Illidan, no Battle of Mount Hyjal, no power-hungry blood elves to serve Kil'Jaedan, no waging war on Pandaria, no Iron Horde And this would have led to a lot of smaller enemies never appearing, like Scarlet Crusade, the worgen curse of Arugal, Defias Brotherhood, ogres and the like. Lordaeron, Stormwind, Dalaran and Silvermoon would be at their prime and King Llane, King Terenas, Turalyion, Alleria, Lothar, Arthas and Cenarius would be just well. (the two kings might would have died of old age) Sure we would have bad guys like the bug races, the satyr, the dark iron dwarves and the black dragonflight, but way less than with the Dark Portal.
No lich king, means no discovery of Yog'Saron's near escape, which would mean doom for everyone since no one would be powerful enough to fight the old god. The Draenei probably would have made their way to Azeroth anyway, meannig the legion would follow them.
Wlarius In the Black Morass dungeon, the bronze dragons say that if the orcs never arrived to unite the human kingdoms against them, the humans would have ended up fighting each other and weakening themselves, dooming Azeroth when the Burning Legion returned (which they would have done regardless of Aegwynn, since they've had a grudge against Azeroth ever since the War of the Ancients).
Let's see the 3 times the Legion, the generals who could summon the rest, actually got to Azeroth. War of the Ancients - summoned here be Azshara and her people in the Well of Eternity WC3 - summoned here by Kel'Thuzad, an undead, using the Book of Medivh. Burning Crusade - summoned by Keal'Thas in the Sunwell. They may hate Azeroth but they can't do shit if there is nobody to summon them.
Tx Nobbel, i really wanted some one to explain the Guardians, Aegwyn, and Medivh, I've had many discussions on your channel against wrong stories. This is a very beautiful story and would make a great movie. Blizzard should have made a movie of it .
Nobbel87 I absolutely love these videos almost as much as medihv. He is my favorite character, and I pray to god he had a secret up his sleeve that brings him back to us. Or maybe time travel will. God I hope so
So, the lord of the raven has to be Medivh. Also, the dark powers interested in Medivh must be the mastermind behind Sylvannas & all. This must be related to the current lore.
Hey, I am a huge fan (kind of recently) but i love the lets play you are doing and i was wondering if you could upload them a little bit faster. Thank you
Lots of good info. People had told me that Medivh was a Guardian, but that is not true! Like you stated in your video he was in line to be the next one, but never had Aegwyn's powers transferred to him. Plus she is still alive!! Hope we see her soon.
Great work as always Nobbel! I have a question. Are you going to do a lore video about Sylvanas, i'm really interested in her lore, becuase i pretty muxh missed out her lore after wc3.
hey nobbel was tryin to find u on facebook...used to be friends but cant find ur page?? was wantin to see if u had or plan on making a lore vid about illidian and how he became the evil awsome villian he is? thx
I have the Warcraft Legends series. And I was just wondering are the comics there somehow in the WoW lore or are they just made up for the comics. You've shown in your videos the one with Draka and now the first guardian so I know they're in the lore. But are the others? BTW thanks for the video. This made me pay more attention to the comic about the first guardian :) Keep up the good work!!
In the beginning you say some names, and one of those is Falric. Is that Falric from the icc dungeon hall of reflections? Or is just some other guys named Falric? :D
Medivh is my favourite character. He was born with two budens and made it that far into trying to control one to do another. Sure at times he did not manage to control sargeras but still, he tried his best. A very strong person, and I've heard people say they hate medivh for what he has done at times, but in truth, it was never his fault.
He was a tripple schizophrenic and the real Medivh was trapped between a rock and a hard place with the two most destructive forces in the universe (Avatar and Guardian), except for Sargeras himself, dueling inside of him. I'm positively surprised he could tie his own shoes. Probably the strongest will-power of anyone in the entire Warcraft universe. Makes Grommash Hellscream and his 'iron will' look like a schoolgirl in comparison.
Hey Nobbel I love your videos. So interesting and well done, was just wondering if you know anything about Moonkins. Is there any lore behind them, where the hell did they come from or were they just added in for a range dps class?
Hey Nobbel, I have a question about something completely unrelated to the video topic, but. At the Siege of Icecrown Citadel (my own little name for it :3) how come Sylvanas wasn't there to seek her final revenge?
I don't recall if she is always there but after you beat Arthas and earn Shadowmourne you get an item that you turn into her for one of the rewards inside the entrance to ICC>
hello Nobel, I have a question, what do you know about scarlet crusade? what is their purpose, where did they come from, who leads them and if there is a chance that we will see them in the future?
@Nobbel87 the story about the first guardian who managed to "seal?" the demon Kathra'natir took place AFTER the highborne came to Tirisfal glades right? which means the "old evil" that the highborne felt when they came to Tirisfal couldn´t be Kathra'natir ... but i think Blizzard stated that the "old evil" in Tirisfal is not an old god either ... so what could it be? it looks like the fairy dragons are singing to "keep a seal active" and make whatever sleeps down there stay asleep. ...what seems strange to me is that this place doesnt seem to hold any importance to neither horde or alliance. its basicly just a "secret place" on the map , still the lore suggests that it must be something pretty epic. I MUST KNOW XD
For the fans of warcraft, i sugest to download the custom campaing "The Last Guardian" It has the story of Aegwyn and Medivh in an epic line of quests and cinematics, Enjoy.
Nobbel, I have a question. I saw your video where it talked about Night Elves and Blood Elves were once together as the race known as High Elves. Shouldn't they have the same playable classes in game them? I noticed this when I saw that Blood Elves can be Paladins, so they must've been touched by The Light, but they can't be druids, so they must've lost touch with Elune. Can you explain where this is in the lore? Or how it happened?
This is a very long story, so I'll try to sum it up. There are technically four castes of elves: the Highborne (basically highly powerful and magical Night Elves, and the most adored by Queen Azshara), the Night Elves (those closer to nature and Elune), the High Elves (also magic prone Elves), and Blood Elves (High Elves changed by fel magic after events of Warcraft 3). But all elves are descendants of Highborne. After the events of the War of the Ancients, where Queen Azshara used the first Well of Eternity as a portal to allow the Burning Legion into Azeroth, the Night Elves swore off all arcane magics as corrupt and evil and would not have it within their people. The Highborne (the few that survived, and were not crazy, at least) and High Elves did not agree with this, as they loved their ways of magic, and so decided to go their separate ways to make their own living elsewhere. And so the Night Elves stayed true to their druidic ways and worship of Elune on new Kalimdor, and the High Elves left and traveled to Lorderon to find their new home where they would continue their magical practices. I don't think High Elves have ever been as in tune with nature as Night Elves (though there have been hints of some Blood Elves using some druid-like magic, such as in the Botanica instance). As for Blood Knights (High/Blood elf paladins) they were members of the Church of Light and are Silvermoon's equivalent of the Knights of the Silver Hand. Basically what it comes down to is how each side sees things as a culture. Night Elves are closer to their ways of druid practices and the powers Elune gives them. They hate arcane magic, and have had no need to have a class of paladins in their ways. High Elves are much more in tune with a large spectrum of magics, as it is their way of life, and simply don't seem to have much interest in Elune or nature in the ways that druids or shamans do. I hope that answered your question. If you have more questions, feel free to ask =] I really love the lore of Elves. And if anyone caught any mistakes, feel free to correct.
So I've been playing Warcraft 1, 2, and 3 since i was a child. Only recently have i gotten into WOW. Sadly to say i'd rather just read the books than play the game, because the lore is really what I'm after. And after watching this episode i realize that Azeroth is thoroughly screwed. Seriously, the battle with Sargeras has probably destroyed almost every hope of Azeroth surviving. Think about it. They lost the "Well of Eternity" , the "Tree of Life", "The Guardian" , and so many other "good and powerful" magical forces that existed. I know Pandaria has been found and they have some power. But I think the big problem after the death of Sargeras, Archimond, and kil'jaden (don't actually know if hes dead yet.). What happens when an Old God revives? Or even worse, if multiple come back. The world is at its breaking point. I honestly don't know how much more Azeroth can take. BTW Nobbel87, your vids are great! I've learned so much about the series i've loved since childhood. And while I've only recently revisited Warcraft I've learned a bunch! Making me love it more. Keep it up man! I love the lore!
Sargeras, Archimonde and Kil'Jaeden are all still alive. You can't really kill a demon in Azeroth, only in the Twisting Nether. As for the Old Gods, the heroes of Azeroth have so far defeated C'Thun and Yogg Saron directly, as well as the work of Y'Sharrj and N'Zoth. I think Azeroth's in pretty safe hands. Alexstraza herself said that the time of mortals has come.
I think the main story in Warcraft lore is that the Titans knew they did not have the power to defeat all chaos themselves particularly after Sargeras betrayed them. Hell, don't even know if the Titans are still alive. They came up with a better plan of forging powerful heroes from the mortal races, and that is what is happening on Azeroth and previously Draenor. The mortal races will become more powerful than the Burning Legion and the Old Gods and chaos will be destroyed. Basically, just keep paying your $10 a month, and killing those boar and eventually you'll be able to kill Kil'Jaeden.
something that could be really cool, is if Jaina became the guardian (ignoring medivhs son for obvious reasons, and she took this power, whilst being evil, and we had to fight her as the endboss of a raid
Hey Nobbel, the videos are always cool and a damn good story :D Just wondering. And (I guess spoilers?) Medan, do you see him fitting in any WoW expansions? I doubt Warlords. And Off topic just wana see your opinion, Have you read the latest WoW graphic novel "Bloodsworn"? Just wanted your take on it.
I'd like you to make a video about Worgens, they are pretty cool but I did not quite understand how they became worgens. You make the best videos, keep so! forgive the bad English.
Nobbel, could you write down in the description what sources/books/comics from which some of the information comes from? I'd love to know so I can read them myself! :)

We all know she just didn't want to die a virgin.

I doubt that we'll ever face him, or atleast...I hope not. Sargeras is just one of those ultimate end bosses that should be around forever.
Nobbel87 I never want to see Sargeras defeated, he and the Old gods are fuel for more expansions.

From all WoW stories the ones containing guardians, titans and old gods are the most intriguing, at least for me :)
All of the stories are linked to either the titans(including Sargaras) or the old gods, its the core of the Warcraft universe.
Name
I said those who include them. I know that they are linked :)
Thank you so much on the background of Medivh, he was by far one of the most interesting people I wanted to know. I can't get enough of the way you tell the story of WoW and learning so much to tell us. Thank You.
Holy crap I think my head exploded...so much lore I didn't know about fully x.x
They changed the story a lot in the warcraft movie after all
Man you make the best lore videos i cant get enough of them, intro music is like bed time story freeaking love it xD , Moree lore plsss
Nobbel I've just started reading the Wow books and can I just say, It is so so awesome after gaining an interest in some of the characters in the books to come here and find out more from you. Thank you so much for all the videos =)

Hats of for you !
Im a hugefan of WoW lore, and you are doing a great job it would be nice to see these more often because i keep checking your youtube page everyday for more lore, I cannot get enough of it!! :D lore-oholic 100%.
Keep up the good stuff!
Really cool video. I stumbled across this and enjoyed hearing the story :)
Aegwynn is pretty much one of the most badass characters in the lore for me at least. Great video Nobbel thanks for that ;)
Nobbel i love your videos, i could honestly listen to you talk about anything, and find it interesting! Thanks for making lore videos keep it up you're AWESOME.
i love the art you put in these

It's like history class, but cooler!
Gotta love your videos, Nobbel, keep it up!
Nobbel, great job!!

Fantastic as always! Thanks for another interesting story.
This was a nice story! thanks Nobbel, i enjoyed it!
you sir, are awesome! love your vids, the way you talk and explain is just great and highly entertaining. keep it up. Greetings from Germany
i honestly love the ay you tell these stories. .make more pleaseeee
Great work with the Guardian Lore. When we will see all Dragon aspects one by one?
That moment when Medivh's lore sounds like a bad RP background
A perfect video for the morning coffee!
Nobbel this was a great video about aegwynn and Medivh, but I would have liked you to talk about the last moment outside Karazhan where Khadgar met with Medivh or a vision of him. It could have explained alot about how he was in warcraft 3 and etc.
@ Nobbel : The way you use the Jaina's 3D model to represent Aegwyn might confuse some neophytes into thinking that Jaina is Aegwyn.
Such an awesome story. I have been on US Aegwyn for 6 months and I never knew who she was. Fantastic character
Gr8 video! Looking forward to the next episode:) Keep up the good work.

There is nothing better then listening to your lore nobble while playing wow. :D

Burning Crusade - summoned by Keal'Thas in the Sunwell.
They may hate Azeroth but they can't do shit if there is nobody to summon them.
"TORMENT ME NO MORE!"
Karazhan, powerful as always.
Tx Nobbel, i really wanted some one to explain the Guardians, Aegwyn, and Medivh, I've had many discussions on your channel against wrong stories.
This is a very beautiful story and would make a great movie. Blizzard should have made a movie of it .
I've been so exited for this video!! :D
Hell yeah lore vid:-D! Aegwynn ^-^ Where do you finds these comics, Nobbel?
Google in combo with a program called CDisplay ^_^

I really like your videos even tho i haven't played wow in 4 years. keep it up :)
thank you very much for making these videos
Nobbel87 I absolutely love these videos almost as much as medihv. He is my favorite character, and I pray to god he had a secret up his sleeve that brings him back to us. Or maybe time travel will. God I hope so
Awsome vid as always
I love leveling and lisen to you ! Thanks alot
Hope we see her soon.
at 9:30 he states she placed her powers inside of him.
Could you do a video abut Rhonin, please? Keep up the good work, love watching your videos!
nobbel could you send me a link of the picture (down left corner) at 4:39 i appreciate it if you could
In the description!
thank you m8
Great work as always Nobbel!
I have a question. Are you going to do a lore video about Sylvanas, i'm really interested in her lore, becuase i pretty muxh missed out her lore after wc3.
This gave me a'lot of "OOOHH SO THATS HOW!" moments xD as usual, great story telling and...Aegwyn = G.I.L.F :3
More like Aegwyn = G.G.G.G.G.G.G.I.L.F She's almost a full millennia old when she dies.
yeah, to live that long (until she died -_-) and look that young is an "Age Win"!
Awesome as always!.. looking forward for next chapter :)) Aegwyn in WoD maybe ? hehehe ))
hey nobbel was tryin to find u on facebook...used to be friends but cant find ur page?? was wantin to see if u had or plan on making a lore vid about illidian and how he became the evil awsome villian he is?
This lore is just awesome...
Nice pictures nobbel, especially about medivh
In the beginning you say some names, and one of those is Falric. Is that Falric from the icc dungeon hall of reflections? Or is just some other guys named Falric? :D
Loved the episode
Hey Nobbel! Thanks for Introducing Scavell !!! now my mage is cooler!
NEXT WEEK??!?!?WHY YOU DO THIS?!?! hehe just kidding, but for real keep the videos coming this is awesome :D
where do i get the picture of medivh and the other that is shown at 20:50? :)
by far your work that i commend the most was the story of brox.. :)
WOW that was a great video m8 cant wait until you make more xD
Great video!
Hey Nobbel I love your videos. So interesting and well done, was just wondering if you know anything about Moonkins. Is there any lore behind them, where the hell did they come from or were they just added in for a range dps class?
could you make a complete Illidan story? That would be awesome
Hey Nobbel
love your lore! so make some more faster!:D
Love your videos !!!
hello Nobel, I have a question, what do you know about scarlet crusade? what is their purpose, where did they come from, who leads them and if there is a chance that we will see them in the future?
Nymphaea this helped a lot! thanks :D
5:43 that picture, anyone? please?:3
And 20:48 too, please :d
i think the first one is all the aspects fighting Deathwing
Nobbel, thanks for the bedtime stories.
My pleasure ^_^
Awkward Squirtle Old God's can't be killed though, can they? I thought they could only be imprisioned.
yeah, they get Re-sealed.
Yeah, sorry, poor phrasing on my part, my point was simply that we've already beaten them and reimprisoned them.
hey nobbel, can you possibly pull up some lore on Tyr the titan watcher? i have reason to believe he was the titan that fell killing an old god.
something that could be really cool, is if Jaina became the guardian (ignoring medivhs son for obvious reasons, and she took this power, whilst being evil, and we had to fight her as the endboss of a raid
Hey Nobbel, can you make a murloc lore video? :)
Hey dude love your videos, Just have a little question if you can answer it. How can Medivh talk to thrall if he is dead ?
Hey Nobbel i was wondering if you could tell me anything about the war between the trolls and the aqir.
About Medan, I don't...but going to talk about that next week. Haven't read blood sworn yet.
Hey Nobbel, love your vids man, was wondering if you could do a video on the first Lich King, thank you. :)
Great video as always! Nobbel, how do you think, should medan be placed in WoW?
I'd like you to make a video about Worgens, they are pretty cool but I did not quite understand how they became worgens. You make the best videos, keep so! forgive the bad English.
Nobbel, could you write down in the description what sources/books/comics from which some of the information comes from? I'd love to know so I can read them myself! :)
In the description :)
Nobbel87 You are the best! Thank you so much :D
Is there a lore vid on Ilidan, because i could not find one and I love him :D If not do you plan on making one?
