After doing Dragy and track pulls he knows most of these cars to with a tenth and 1mph. Which is why we know the 765 will beat the SF90 given equal drivers.

I contend that Stop Light to stop light “competition” on the street is a practical, fun and quick measure of performance.
I can’t think of any place on the street where I can simply,, quickly and safely run against another car to measure relative braking, acceleration and cornering performance.

Ferrari hates such people, since their non press cars might get exposed. Mclaren were stupid to piss on Brooks, since their cars are actually more powerful than claimed. Ferrari threatened to ban anyone who tested the LaFerrari from buying any of their cars again. It's a shame as the LaFerrari was genuinely impressive, one of the very best launching RWDs ever.

Ferrari had full of tank of gas and spon second gear ands gets 9.55s i think it will do 9.4s-9.3s easy with better tires conditions (similar conditions when 765lt did 9.33s record )

@@Jana-nb6xg No even close to too optimistic. Look at the 0-60 time here vs. his best 0-60 in Florida. With two people in the car, a DA of 1800 feet, and a car that was without the AF pack, they managed a 2.1X time. Subtract those 0.4 from this and see where you are.
Don't be surprised if that SF90 with R888R shoes and 1/4 tank goes 9.0X or better.

It's very rare to see a McLaren 765LT getting beat in a drag race. SF90 is a Ferrari with hypercar performance levels. Great video though.

I raced for 10 years back in the 80's when the Super Comp class was first started. Anyway, there's a lot to make good passes on a regular basis. I notice Brooks that you are very good on the tree. Not the absolute fastest overall but you're damn consistent. One of the most important skills that critics fail to mention is the skill to not get you or someone else killed or injured.

Damn that sucks i was hoping for at least 2 heads up races between the two. And im wondering why Brooke's didnt drive the 765 being that hes a pro at launching them and let John use the AWD easier launching Ferrari. Race probably would have had a better outcome
Probably drove the Ferrari because he wanted to get a real time out of that car. Already had a time for the McLaren.
@C J B yes a tenth or two slower but a significantly larger performance window. The 765 is clearly faster within a very narrow window - it needs perfect temp, a prepped track and better driver. A 70 old gramma in the SF90 would never lose to a stock 765 on the street.
@@davidwynn6105 its not even guaranteed to be slower on a drag strip even.. Brooks had his time with 765 to get it to go as fast as it did. When he gets enough time behind the Ferrari it will eventually be faster. Sure its AWD and you cant mess it up much, but for sure he will get even better times. Just look at what he did with the launch of the F8...plus the sf90 was with a full tank...and spun in 2nd gear... there is a lot of time in there.
Hennessey has plenty of practice racing on a drag strip. Excuses, excuses, excuses.

Well, if you go back and see his run in Florida, there's a lot to gain. He ran a 0-60 of 2.1 back then with two guys in the car. You could hear the SF90 spinning too. When that thing gets some soft rubber shoes, it could be a 9.0X car that does 0-60 in 2.0X or less.
Got to hand it to them, Europeans really do know how to build them cars.

I know the Asseto Fiorano is the "lightweight" version of the SF90 but I can't wait to see the "Speciale/ Pista/ Scuderia" version. By then it will be going up against the McLaren 850S.

Comparing them to their respective road versions, the 360 Challenge Stradale had 25hp more, F430 Scuderia had 20hp more, 599 GTO had 50hp more, 458 Speciale had 35hp more, F12tdf had 40hp more, 488 Pista had 50hp more. Max was 50hp, I don’t know in which case it has increased by 70hp, regarding the road cars.
When it comes to the road and the road illegal track versions, then it’s valid, e.g the Enzo Ferrari to the Enzo FXX, the 599 GTB to the 599XX, and the LaFerrari to the LaFerrari FXXK, and also the road to race cars, such as the F40 to the F40 Competizione and the F50 to the F50 GT.

When you were drag racing with the f8 tributo, you managed to get it to go faster by playing with tires and the cars settings so if you do the same to your one when it comes I bet the results would be impressive and rather close to the 765lt.

@@kijanilong2395 The SF90 isn't quicker, even though it won this race. Brooks has recorded a 9.3s pass and this was a 9.5s from the SF90.

@@Gregisgolden also the F8 and 765LT are not even close on the street. The 765LT can be optioned to around 1M with MSO as well. The SF90 Stradale is 550k base and is so close to as fast on the 1/4 mile its not worth the price for just that which is why Brooks got his as close.to base price.

No it should not.
The Ferrari was not on top either. It has previously posted 2.1X 0-60, here it ran quite a bit more. Had the Ferrari not spun its wheels, which you could hear it did, it would have been a 9.0X car. Even after the McLaren came "back" into the race, it was just hanging there, not closing.

The 765LT has RWD and the assistance of no electric motors, and was still able to pull of a time of 9.3 seconds, and a 0-60 of 2.1 secs. I’m pretty sure the Chiron can run at least 9.3 secs.

What kind of break in do you do before hitting the drag strip with a new SF90 or 765LT? (Any hyper car really.) Are they completely dyno run in from the factory? Doubtless they recommend something, but perhaps only for liability to hopefully have a new owner become familiar with the power?
No. In the owners manual, they want you to run 1000 km where you take it a bit easy.
However, that has been in the owners manuals since 1973...
The engines are dyno tested and the cars get a few laps on Fiorano.
What really needs to loosen up is the suspension and exhaust. The rest is in fact good to go.
When Ferrari does Corsa Pilota they sometimes use cars with less than 100 km on them. The main reason for advocating the break-in, has to do with trying to get clients to not climb the nearest tree on the way home in their first Ferrari.
Reality is that these cars often drive better if they are broken in the way the owner intends to use the car. If you want a Sunday cruiser, do that. If you want to do track days, do that etc.
The most important thing in a drag race like this, is to make sure everything is loosened up.
After about 2000 km you really start to feel the car come alive, so if you drag a Ferrari that has say 300 km on it, it will not be at its fastest.
I don't know about McLaren but will assume it's the same thing.

I know only about performance motorcycles, and the recommendations from the factory are very conservative as you say for the hi perf cars as well, PRESUMABLY to allow people to get used to something with 200 hp and under 500 lbs, (As they are all at least dynoed for function, but I don't think fully broke in) I have seen tests where ring gap is checked after a real "track" type break-in, compared with owners manual conservative break-in and the rings in the conservative break in show much less wear (At least in that one bench mark, in many others like big end bearings etc, no difference)
@@robertos4172 What Ferrari mainly do on the dyno, is the rings and initial oil distribution. This is why the engines are on the dyno running at different speeds. They are then run for a virtual lap of Fiorano. Then they are put in the cars, All cars are driven on Fiorano and then a bit on the surrounding roads. Cars that are in the GT line such as the Lusso, Porto, Roma etc. are not driven hard on the track, but rather just tested. Cars in the sports line, e.g F8, 812, SF90, Pista etc. are given a few good laps. Nothing really hard, but say 85% maybe. Depending on schedules etc. sometimes the GT cars don't see the track, and are just taken for a quick spin. The length and time on the dyno also depends on whether it's V12 or V8. The V8 engines are not tested the same way as the V12.
@@AB-80X Thank for all the data. The bikes are definitely not nearly as extensively run in, and perhaps benefit from a more protracted break-in. I know many say you have essentially 30 miles to really get good ring to bore scrub, and when done very aggressively (with warm oil!) things are better, but the manufacturers recommendations cannot just be discounted as for familiarity..or can they? Age old dispute I guess.

@Ayush Malpeddi Maybe so, but the Lucid Air is coming out second half of THIS year and is only $3K more expensive than the Plaid+ (with FSD) which Tesla just delayed another 6 months (won’t be out until mid-2022) Tesla also just increased the price another $10K for the Plaid+.
If Lucid’s dual motor is just as fast and has virtually the same range as the Tri-Motor Plaid+ I can’t even imagine how crazy the Tri-Motor Lucid Air will be. Competition will really heat things up for both brands.

Lucid’s Air Dream Edition (1080HP one that ran the 9.9s) is already fully reserved ($7.5K reservation) and will be in customers hands second half of 2021. Check out their factory in AZ. They are about to go into production within the next couple of months.

I'm a Ferrari guy, been a tifosi since my childhood but if I were to choose between an SF90 or the 765LT, I'd take the LT for some reasons.
Then you're not really a tifosi. McLaren over a Ferrari and u have a Lambo as your display pic🤦♂️
I’d take the 765LT as well. But I still prefer the sound of the SF90 Stradale. But overall, I’d take the 765LT, just about.
@@recca7 dude, I am a tifosi. Forever and always. And my daily car is a VW and Toyota. Using Aventador as profile pic doesn't mean much. Love 488 more than any Aventador even the SVJ. But the SF90, you should hear what Chris Harris said about it and I agree.

A true tifosi isn't a regular fan, they stick with Ferrari through thick and thin when they're having their worst or best years in f1. they have one brand in their heart that's number 1. It doesn't matter if there's another car that has better numbers, can outperform them on the track, they still wouldn't choose it over a Ferrari because....it's not a Ferrari. This is a religion, a lifestyle..to them nothing is better than a Ferrari. I don't care what Chris says. He has a very specific way in how he wants cars to perform. it's just his opinion and he's welcome to have it, but in the end it means very little

Well I am glad the Ferrari won! So far the Ferrari won every direct comparison, both on the road and on the dragstrip. It hasn't broken the 9.33s record yet but let's wait and see. In this video the Ferrari did the 0-60 in 2.45s (according to the dragy table with all the data), so the gap between the 0-60 and the 1/4 mile (9.56) is 7.11s. The Mclaren in the video of the record did at first 9.43s with a 0-60 in 2.32s, so the gap was 7.11s, which is identical. It means that the Ferrari and the Mclaren are basically equally fast even after 0-60 mph. The reason why the Mclaren was able to go into the 9.4/9.3's is that it did the 0-60 in 2.32s and 2.11 in the record time (of which I didn't say the video footage 😢). The Ferrari in this video did the 0-60 in 2.45 (which is better than what the Mclaren did in this video btw), but I have a feeling that the Ferrari could be much faster in the 0-60 mph. If the Mclaren was able to do the 0-60 mph in 2.1-2.3s I think the Ferrari should be able to do it as well, maybe even 2s straight. It just needs better, properly heated tyres and a good number of runs. This was a single run with a tank almost full of gas. This is not the best that the Ferrari can do. The Ferrari could already do 2.45s on the road with a tank full of gas (like we saw in Brooks' video). It should be able to do 2-2.2s on the dragstrip. If you shave 0.2-0.4s from the 0-60 time the Ferrari should be able to do 9.4/9.3s, maybe even 9.2s... That being said, even if the Ferrari hasn't already broken the 1/4 mile record, it has already proved that out of the 2 it's the car with the more consistent times, regardless of the conditions of the tyres/of the road.
