You mentioned as a reason to choose ABS the acetone vapour smoothing. In my experience these "easy to print ABS" materials because they are not pure ABS and can contain all shorts of stuff inside, do not smooth well with acetone. Maybe vapour smoothing rate/consistency is another test that you could do when testing materials that are vapour smoothable like ABS, ASA, PVB etc. The temperature resistance is indeed disappointing and I would not recommend this material to anyone building a Voron. Thank you very much for another great material test video. Keep up the good work!

You’ve not used Sunlu apparently because the stuff is like a dream even thier pteg as well. Best plastics around

This was the main thing I wanted to hear about on the comparison. Does it vapor smooth?

Yet another great filament test. This is exactly why your channel is worth patreon membership.

Very helpful video. Your reviews are always very thorough, which is much appreciated. It might be helpful to see more comparisons between this filament and average PETG rather than average ABS. It seems like people who would use this would otherwise print with PETG. For people who currently print with ABS there probably isn't a reasons to switch to this rather than ASA.

Sunlu is one of if not the best plastics around. They are made in the Sunlu factory with jayco and bambu

Nice video. Very interesting. E-ABS I thought it would have more of the ABS characteristics. I would be very interested in a Hips test. Looked like a very promising filament to me. But I can't get it to stick to the bed.

This might be good for people that only have an open printer and need something with some impact resistance that won't shatter when hit like PETG or PLA, or for something that has a little more heat resistance than PLA. Apart from that if you have a printer that can print ABS, just print ABS.

    • @sleddarcheddar

Petg doesn't shatter in my experience.

@@sleddarcheddarYou haven't hit it hard enough or with repeated impacts then. PETG is even worse than PLA is when it comes to shattering. PLA will tend to crack and deform, but with a really strong, sharp impact PETG will often shatter more like glass. At lower speeds and less violent impacts it tends to flex more and recovers better than PLA does though. A good brand of PLA+, on the other hand tends, to handle repeated sharp impacts way better.

The main reason to use ABS is it has high glass temperature. But easy abs has same Tg with PETG.

    Great test, as usual.
Would it be possible to test QIDI ABS-GF25 (which GF core, so less GF on the and outer surface) and compare it with eSUN eABS-GF and Bambu Labs ABS-GF? Of course, printed inside the X-Max 3.
Besides the inner GF core of the ABS-GF25 resulting in less wear on the hotend and gears, maybe the outer ABS shell will improve layer adhesion, which for GF filaments it's often an issue (see your PLA-CF vs PLA-GF).
It could be an interesting experiment, now that the number of suppliers offering ABS-GF is increasing.
It may be worth taking some macro photos as well, since the core-GF may result in a less shiny/speckles on the surface.

I have 4 Qidi filaments on the test (currently the GF25 not yet, but it will be tested too soon). And I have BambuLab ABS-GF in 4 colors! There will be a comparison between them. eSun ABS GF test is in progress, parts are already printed.

This is an interesting product for me not because of the strength of ABS I don´t care about that, the material is pretty shit and PETG is almost always better but because I can smooth this material.
So can I smooth it with Aceton ?

So far I have tried their pla + and it was OK. Not as good as other brands like eryone, polymaker and even cheaper brands like elegoo pla/+. I found that bed adhesion was not as good, colors are not as nice, and layer adhesion was not as good as some others. I have tried many brands and I would say sunlu falls somewhere in the middle of the pack. Now the fact their abs melts at a lower temp to me is kind of pointless if their deformation temperature point is lower than regular abs for my needs. I use abs for printer parts like fan ducts etc. So it would not be a good choice for me. Thanks for sharing. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦

Ennél sem tapasztaltam repedéseket, szépen egyben marad a nyomat.
A gépemen a hőmérsékletek rendben vannak.
