Learning English opens the door to the world. I think what motivate me the most, is realizing that I have improved a lot. I know I have so much more to learn yet, but looking back and seeing where I was, and where I am now is motivating.
What most inspiring me to learn English is to tell a good joke for a neighbor. He would laugh and I would watch on my watch how long he would laugh. If he would laugh a couple of minutes I would know he had understood what I was saying, and perhaps he will tell the joke for his partner too. If he would gesture 'is good' I will know he didn't get a joke at all, or he has no idea what I was trying to tell him. This is just for a fun. But what I like to learn from you dear teacher Anna, some unique video lesson. "What to say or how to impress myself when a nice guy like me dance with a lady?" You should have some experience!😔
No one can deny that english had become a universal language , if you learn english you are going to seize many opportunities especially if you are intrested in learning /working from/in the internet (a freelancer for example)

1) I tend not watch the news as often because it is so depressing. I mean before watching the news I would be in a happy mood then I will watch the news and feel depressed.
2) My father use to say to me your body is your first baby so look after it eat well, sleep well, exercises. If you look after your body it will reward you.

I had not seen this audio class. I got you 85/90% without subtitles. Learning English is my challenge, I am enhancing, boost my English skills, but I can be a runner because I need a stick crutch for walking, but I can do it best. There are several problems when you are studying in the Official School of Language In Spain.(Tenerife in my particular)....the teachers are overrated and no native mostly. And why...because they are civil servants. Don't make an effort. It is my opinion. Is unusual that private teachers they understand my spechees, and School teacher don't .. In here there is something that doesn't work properly.

Hello Anna. I married a Scottish man and moved to London. He doesn't speak Portuguese. So I need to speak English all time. Sometimes I feel I'm speaking worse than before I moved to London but my listening has improved a lot. Thanks. Be safe.
People always claim that there have a busy schedule and that they cannot find the time to self improve or work on their English. A friend of mine made the same claim but it was not for her English but for French. So, I decided to record her activities, we worked together and live together but we are not a couple. I did not tell her that I was making these observation and taking secret notes (Sherlock Holmes got nothing on me).
After work we went to the pub for a few hours, she watches a bit of telly for an hour or two while chatting on social media for hour or two, meet some of her girlfriends for a good old chin wag. Did the pretty much the same thing Monday-Friday and on Saturday and Sunday just lazies around. I calculated her hours and it came up to 21 hours between Monday and Friday and extra 24 hours for Saturday and Sunday. That is 45 hours when I told her she was shocked LOL.
My point is people claim to have no time but if you cut back on social media, watching tv you find you have a few more hours every day. I know I made such claims and when I tallied up my activities I realized I had extra few hours each day. I know people say I have kids and don't have the time but it is not like you be sitting in front of your kids watching them like a hawk. Kids are pretty self-sufficient they often playing on the tablet or watch the telly, running around and only asking your questions if they want to talk. I know my niece (6 years old) does the same, sometimes she will ask me to play with her.

My motivation to learning is are..first one i need to take study abroad and the second i need to live and work abroad.. thats all my goals why i trying hard to improve my english skills..

This video is awsome! I am teaching English here in my country (Venezuela) and I sent it to a WhatsApp that it is used to be in touch with my students. It's really helpful. Actually, I tried to understand most of things by context in order not to translate words in Spanish. You have a clear and beautiful pronunciation and your speaking is not so fast. I fully agree with everything you said in this video (selfesteem, listen and read, establish healthy relationships, don't push through, and so on)
I'd many reasons to study English, but now the most important reason is because I wanna have a better life quality and this way I could help my family. The situation in Latin America is very very complicated.

My desire is to learn English and others and succeed in every upcoming exam like Alexander the Great, and sit on a powerful post in my own community.
And I also wish, whoever reads this, may also get successful in life, along with me.
Good video I enjoyed it final comment. When I am stressed and I simply cannot get the hang of what I am doing. I leave it for a few hours and then come back with a fresh set of eyes ( Its like when you write something and you have no-one to proof read it or you don't want to burden someone so you take a break, come back and find a ton of mistakes) Sometimes I go for a run or a walk(friends think I am crazy when I go for a run or walk to clear my head), watch a bit of telly (Netflix), chat or play with my niece if she around and when I go back to it I usually get what I am trying to do.
I also turn off my phone and my internet connection because personally I find myself browsing social media while I attempting to learn especially if I not getting the concept. I tend to set my phone for 45 mins and try to get the work, learning and whatnot done in that time. When the timer goes off I tend to relax either on Netflix or on social media which ever one tickles my fancy.
I learning a couple of new skills which include learning two new languages Spanish and Chinese including the culture, enhancing my culinary skills, learning to draw, using Adobe, etc
I face a problem with finding a partner so I can practise speaking with him/her, can you prompt websites that I can practise speaking on??
I think, you are purposefully speaking slowly to reach your words clearly for us.

Another comment LOL, I have a habit of pausing the video and making a comment whenever an interesting point is made and right now I am at 11:43 so I probably add more comments depend on what Ana says next. I agree the best learning that is done is when you do not think of it as a chore but when you enjoy the learning process. I meaning if you dragging your feet because you don't want to learn English, etc then how do you expect to retain what you have learned.
What me truely motivate is I just want to conunicate with other people from different conutries. I want to listen thier stories and also share them my stories. Englich can make me absolutly more. I can read some of books direktly and watch some talkshows without translation or subtitle, that feels definitly really good and I can also know more cool people and learn more from them.
Better career and secure high position in professional life. I really want to learn English. Have lots of dreams to fulfill in life so with advance english language skill it's not possible to achieve those.
My real motivation I think is to be capable to communicate with people around the world and expand my knoledge

For me when learning feels hard and I lose motivation. I always go back to the reason why I am doing it the first place. That why it is important to have a why because in times when it feels hard or your lose motivation you need to go back and remember your why.

What motivated me to learn English was it was taught throughout the national curriculum for all students in Norway from the age of 7. English is the most powerful Germanic language therefore it is vital to learn. Also half the world has the English language in it. It is vital for communication as 72% of the world understands and speaks a level of English yes!!!! :)

Teacher Anna, at first the only thing I was interested was English music. Then I realized it wasn't hard for me to memorize titles like "Stairway to heaven". I asked for to a friend to teach me what he was learning in the college because they didn't teach English in primary school. Now my intention was to try singing in English.After that I began to get into grammar, reading, pronunciation. I helped my classmates even the friend who taught me. It was a long time ago, 70's. Today my favorite music is the same old rock music, I'm not a formal or profesional teacher but I keep teaching it, I'm doing it well but I want to do it better. I could say I study English because I love both music and English language.
Well there's a few things IO do when I am stressed. Firstly I stop and breath so no panic attack happens. Then I take a moment to think about what is it that I am stressed about and is there a solution to resolve the stress. The thing is there is not always a solution. So at this point I would make myself do something; from working out (Exercise) too writing, reading, and I do believe in god too so I prey or read the Bible so do some faithful acts. I then realize of some stresses that the only way to get over them is acceptance. For example I want to make a change in an area of Norway that has a certain level of homeless people. But then there is a whole more complex situation that half of them ore addicted to drugs and there is a child poverty situation, pulse covic-19. So it's at this point I have to unfortunately take a step back but praise the helpful people that deal with this matter, which makes them very happy actually. Sometimes I want to disagree with a political situation but then I must not because me and my family are politically Neutral...and have to be. So it's a mixture overall of above that I do to deal with stress..also hikes, skiing and surfing are amazing yes!!!! :)

One thing that motivates me to learn English is failure itself. I've had so many encounters where I abysmally failed to communicate in English and being ridiculed for such failure, ultimately I decided to learn English... It's still a work in progress, however, I remain patient.

I agree, but would add that even when it is your mother tongue the learning can continue if your are open to that. I’m still learning new things about my language. Plus language changes so we have to keep up to date :)
