The being book misaligned could be easily explained as the binding falling apart/built poorly, considering all of the books in Minecraft are either very old (from structures) or handmade

In graphic design, making things even and perfect often makes a design uglier than if you just go with whatever looks best. I think there’s a reason for all of these one pixel off things, if you look at any of your favourite websites, you’ll notice the same thing.

I almost feel like the book binding thing could be a deliberate choice. I think it makes it look hand sewn and ameteurish in a good way.
It would be better to make the seams have inconsistent placement throughout the book in that case though, instead of being perfectly smooth and then randomly shifting and being smooth again
then the offset should seem a little more random shouldn't it, changing a few times from top to bottom and not just once half way...

I actually found something that's really bad, and frankly an inexcusable mistake on Mojang's part.
If you take a look at the mobs in the game, you'll notice that one of them is the glow squid.

The bottom of grass decorations goes 1 pixel underneath the top of the block, so if it clips through a corner (random placement placing it on a side of the block rather than the centre) you can see it from below
If you look at it from a different perspective though, the lectern still fits in the slot. That stray pixel is just in the shadow of the slot's border.
Now with that in mind, remove the shadow and realize that every single item sprite was never in the dead center of the slots.
I've now ruined days in a different way.

I really like this approximation of reality.
The corners of the smoker behave like the wheels of a shopping trolley and the bindings on the book, look like someone with a decent but not mastery level of experience in book binding made them. So they went from the top downwards or the bottom upwards and missplaced the holes for the binding in one row and then just went with it to not make the mistake bigger by trying to correct it.
I really like those details.

I think the book is intentional, when you hand bind books into what are called "paragraphs" you often will combine paragraphs in half like that to connect them.
Is it weird that I’ve never noticed that the books in Minecraft had threads?
Also, they need to color correct so many slabs, doors, and trapdoors, etc for bedrock. I don’t know if it’s the same on Java, but on bedrock the slab textures for some stones are slightly darker than their block counterpart. Eg: sandstone.
I am about to take two back to back tests at school and now watched this. My day has been ruined much faster than I thought was possible.

@Tim Kessler It is indeed. Banners om the floor only have a hitbox similiar to torches. Banners on the wall have hitboxes similar to ladders.

The book texture is actually realistic. Traditionally, book makers would start at the middle of the spine, thread their way to the top, and then finish the bottom.
the lectern isn't the only block that visual is bigger than a block but the hitbox isn't: banners too
I don't know if you've done a video on this yet, but in the settings, if you go into the "resource packs" menu, the background gets shifted to the right by a few pixels, and there are visible seams where it got shifted
