Skipping out on connecting flights too often can get your FF membership cancelled and even your ticket revoked. Airlines can track your spending behavior just as easily as Amazon can so be wary of this tactic. Lufthansa has been known to do this. On a related note. A good use for the VPN hack is to look at overlapping and regional flights. For example: Book a roundtrip ticket from US to EU with a 6-9 month departure time frame, e.g Leave Oct 15th, return Mar 5th. Then book a ticket from the EU flying to the US on Nov 1st and returning to the EU on Feb 15th. Nesting the trips this way with long gaps often gives low rates. Of course only really works if you need to go to the same place but you can also overlap regional flights within the others. Just make sure you track what you're doing so as not to get stranded somewhere with no flight out. Obvious downside is schedule disruptions or plan changes since your booking many months in advance. Can be a good strategy for syncing with cruises.
I just booked a ticket from Sydney to Frankfurt. I booked economy to Jakarta and business from Jakarta onwards. Ended up saving literally thousands on a business class ticket by booking from Jakarta
In Ecuador, if you are a senior with a cedula (ID) you get 40% off air travel. It used to be for most airlines through travel agencies but now it's only through Latam and Copa at their offices only. I heard Avianca makes it very difficult. I've used Latam and it's a great deal.
I just got back from Europe and am already thinking about my next adventure for next year LOL. I'm thinking of going to Ireland. This was a very helpful video. Thanks for another great video. I always enjoy these great tips. Question about codeshare, though: has anyone had a problem with losing seat assignments for these codeshare flights? I booked a much cheaper (than AA) round-trip ticket on British Airways for a flight in April, but one segment of the flight was operated by American Airlines. On the AA segment, although I had reserved my seat far in advance of the flight date, when I tried to check in online, I discovered that they had booted me out of my seat and gave me the only remaining seat on the plane (a middle seat, of course). I called AA with no luck, and I spoke to the AA gate agent about it; she told me that since the flight was booked on the BA website, BA cannot guarantee your AA seat assignment; they only request it. So, even if you have a supposedly confirmed seat with the operating carrier, it is not guaranteed. The BA segment was fine, seat-wise. Not a huge deal, but considering I booked so far out (9 months), I thought I would get the seat assignment that I requested. Has anyone else had this problem?
Loving this content. I like to look at nearby hubs in reasonable driving range, like, say, Dallas or Houston, to get to Austin. The price difference can often pay for a rental car, and I don't have to wait for a connecting flight. Sometimes that stopover is even in Houston or Dallas, which is nuts. Doing something similar on a trip to Tampa area. The direct flight to Orlando is so much cheaper and at the time I want to go, and the savings is paying for a rental car too. I get there when I want, the rental is basically free, and the combo is cheaper than the direct flight to Tampa would be and that gets in late. Cheaper, even with the car, which I'd need anyway, and an AM flight, which is what I wanted. Next I'll be signing up for some of those services you recommended.
enjoy sitting on I-4 in that rental car. Many times of the day it is nothing but taillights all the way between Tampa and Orlando. Hope you do not have a schedule of any kind to keep.
Be careful with booking with code sharing partner: in case of any issue, including flight cancellation, you will need to deal with the airline that sold you the ticket. This can get pretty aggravating.
Good information about using a VPN when booking flights. I wonder if this works for international flights back to the US? Let's say I'm flying round trip from Belize to Texas. I'll have to try it.
Priceline: When Priceline first came out, it was where you could place a price bid, which might or might not be accepted. The "catch" was you didn't get to specify the airline or the times or the routing (just start and end cities). I got some great deals that way, and it was fantastic for hotels too, where you'd just pick the city and class and what you're willing to pay. My question: Does anyone do that anymore? Or anything like it? - Thanks!
This is a great video, and I will keep your travel tips in mind. We did try your VPN trick based on your advice in a previous video, and unfortunately, it did not work. It was on SAS, so we tried changing our location to Denmark. The weird thing is that the site gave us ticket prices in the Norwegian Kroner (which looked good), but then the total was expressed in the Danish Kroner, which wiped out all the savings. (I know, this is hard to follow.) I know that this example may not be scientifically representative. What does frost me is that round trips from several foreign destinations to our home airport (in the U.S.) are almost always cheaper than the round trips from our home airport to these same destinations. Now if you have a hack to get around paying all the taxes, I would REALLY be interested! ;)
I am also sceptical about the VPN trick. First some site can detect the connection is coming from a VPN. Second: at some point in your reservation, you will need to enter your home address. I am wondering what happen then when you actually try to purchase the ticket. Be aware that internally the web site might be divided in 2 services: a service to show the available flights. And a different service to process an actual reservation, with a lot more checks.
We winter in southern Europe and fly from BC to Lisbon and have to have at least two stops (fly to Vancouver, then Vancouver to Toronto, then to Lisbon) , and so we always book the entire journey with ONE airline. If you do not, missed connections are worse to deal with. If we can't use the same airline, we usually plan an overnight to ensure we make our connection. Land in Lisbon on Air Canada and stay a night (or two, or three...Lisbon is wonderful) before catching a TAP/Aegean/etc flight to the final destination. For some reason, the Air Canada leg from Toronto or Montreal to Lisbon is frequently delayed, so this saves a lot of consternation. The VPN trick is one I've never tried. I've tried shopping for other things using a VPN, and found Canadian credit cards often didn't work, but to save money on flights, I'd try again!

Excellent information as always. Just one request. When you mention a price in dollars, could you specify which kind of dollar? US, Canadian, Australian, New Zealand, Singapore and others.
For a start, I'm shocked that Air Canada would offer the cheaper price. You should buy a lottery ticket! 😂 But I do have a question...if you do the VPN thing, can you still sign in if you have that airline's loyalty membership? (e.g. Aeroplan) I'm planning to go to Porto, PT in January.

I’m heading to the Philippines at the end of November. I usually get a round trip from my airport and back but it always leaves me with large layovers in SEA,LAX or SFO. I’m considering getting individual tickets to the hubs to avoid these layovers.
I was trying to go to Australia from the east coast. My agent suggested I book from LA and find my own way to the west coast. Yes I had to move my own luggage but instead of $1000 extra I found a first class flight at less than half that. Of course I could have flown cheaper on Southwest but it turned out not as much I thought.
I fly in and out of DFW and found it cheaper sometimes to buy tickets from LAX, SFO, or SEA to the philippines. I recently checked a round-trip premium economy ticket from MNL to DFW, and it was cheaper to book from MNL to SEA on JAL. Then, book a separate ticket on AA round trip SEA to DFW. It would save me almost $300! Layover time was also a benefit because you're able to choose the domestic portion of your itinerary, just leave enough time to get your bags, etc, between flights.
@ For our trip to Australia we did something similar the difference from LAX and IAD in business was over $1000 each we flew the IAD LAX leg in first class for $8xx for both of us. We just booked an open jaw from JFK to EZE and then Barbados to JFK separately for a savings of about $800 each.
@@papadougpapadougsadventures Thanks. Travel Agent helped a lot! He looked at the pricing and said I’ll book you from LAX you figure out how to get to there! I could have flown a bit cheaper on Southwest but it was the beginning of a long flight and the difference was minimal which was a shock.
I hope someone talks about how to find lower airfare during high demand dates. Yes we all know that we can travel to Paris in February and pay a third of what it costs in the summer! Nothing new here. We know we can travel domestically paying low airfares in early November! We know we can find cheapest airfares if we don’t set exact travel dates. The issue is that the majority of people work for a living and their time off is restricted!!! It would be great to know what techniques there are for traveling during Thanksgiving weekend, Xmas week etc. I don’t expect to find cheap prices, I’m most interested in finding out if it’s best to buy tickets many months in advance or not. I am tracking certain flights for a while and it seems 5 months out the prices are very high.
Please do a video for handicap people who need to use a wheelchair, walker, crutches, or airport wheelchair or the airport taxi cars (whatever they are called). How does a person set this up. Including, getting from your car parking spot into the airport building. I know some airports have shuttle busses, but not all do. I can only walk a few yards due to severe back pain and I can not stand for more that a couple minutes. If I were to ever to fly again, I will need to take my walker with me. I am now afraid to fly, now that I am disabled! This seems like a nightmare having to change gates for a connecting flight.
I bought my first codeshare ticket to Madrid without noticing and I will never do it again. I now have 3 airlines I have to deal with and it has been a headache. Just my experience 😊
I remember booking my airfare through Princess as part of my cruise package and their website allowed me to select my flights. Since I required connections both ways, I opted for a longer layover. Going to Europe, the reservation was through Delta and went smoothly even though the connecting flight was Air France. Returning was not as smooth as the flights were booked with Air France but BOTH operated by Delta (didn't pay attention to that) ... Well ... Air France decided to change my flights to connect in a different US airport with only a 2 hour connection (I booked five hours) .... I almost didn't make my connection. Yeah ... I saved a lot of money booking via Princess but I prefer the flexibility of booking directly with the airline I'm flying on. After watching this video, I will compare codeshare pricing but it'll need to be a huge difference for me to want to book with a codeshare airline.
Passengers haven't quite reckoned how to get forthrightness out operators; much of said partnerships permitting travel on a flight booked elsewhere on another airlines - sometimes are a front for underhand dealings needing deep cover - or non disclosure from everyone involved --what next? -should the delivering operator falters in desired indulgences pledged passengers--the booking airline effectively used in snagging an offer of patronage - but which the passenger must now do without? ---Book always at active operator's portals --but preferably at their counters - for planes on standby...

I spent a month and a half with just the clothes on my body when the airline failed to ship my bag. Best time ever ! Nothing to carry, no need to choose what to wear, washed my clothes in the shower every night and if they were still damp in the morning , which they usually were, stood outside in them until they dried. Perfect vacation. Oh, and I got my luggage the day before I went home but found I didn't need anything in there so wore the same clothes home😅.
Air Canada has the absolute worst customer service, in my opinion and experience, not worth using to save money ( esp $65) British Airways is excellent
It does seem to depend on a lot of factors. I know that if I use a VPN and look at a regional flight in New Zealand it is often about 30% cheaper than if I book from the US. However when you try to book you might get rejected because your credit card isn't tied to a New Zealand address. Last time I visited my sister there she booked my ticket from Auckland to Napier on Air New Zealand because when I tried it was almost 2x the price. I saw a cheaper price using the VPN but it wouldn't accept my US credit card so she booked it for me
Are you paid to reference to google? Who is using google to book tickets, they already collecting your information as much as they can, why would i want to give away more information by using google to book tickets?!
Not paid to reference Google. Also, Google Flights is just a search tool and you can’t buy a ticket on Google Flights. It does do a great job of showing you the prices from Airline websites and third party booking sites in one place so you can see all of your options from a single search. It then links you to those websites to make a purchase. No payments or bookings actually go through Google Flights. Hope this helps clear it up. Thanks for watching!
To stay somewhat hidden, if you feel you should (and I get it), use a VPN, and of course don't register yourself on Google, or on Chrome, TH-cam, Nest, Fitbit, Waze, Waymo, Chromecast, AdSense, DeepMind, or Gmail or devices running on Android (all of which are Google's). And know that Google tracks across ALL your devices, including your work PC.

VPN never worked for me

Changing virtual locations to find cheaper flights? 🤔Anyone else tried this VPN trick with success?
Air Canada has the absolute worst customer service, in my opinion and experience, not worth using to save money ( esp $65)
British Airways is excellent
Hack 2# isn't really a thing. I've tried three different locations, and the prices are pretty much the same.
I saw a cheaper price using the VPN but it wouldn't accept my US credit card so she booked it for me
@@iancvisuals707 Do me a solid and look up a flight from LA to Tokyo, if you please.
Pro Tip: Don't use Google flights
Please, no more of the thumbnails with the X arms. We can read what the video is about. I've gotten to where the X arms and the no-no finger wags are easy indicators of videos to pass on.
If you can't afford to fly, stay where you are.
Really great information. Thanks.
My pleasure! Glad you found it helpful!
