A bit of album context, the relationship between humans and technology and its impact upon human interaction is one of the main themes explored in The Phosphorescent Blues. It's not a concept album per se, but at least two other songs cover this idea, and it colours the overall album experience. The other two songs take a more negative outlook at this idea, which I find interesting because it shows your point of it not being so black and white. Even more interesting, Little Lights is an album closer, so it's the final statement the band wanted to make. This song also features vocals from several fans, sent over to the band during the recording process for that big final chorus, further illustrating the song's message through an actual contribution made possible by this technology. The song imo has a secondary theme that's about the power of music to connect people, also underlined by technology, considering how the internet has opened up a bigger forum for musical discussion or simply gushing over your favourite bands, albums or songs.
One additional comment, besides the drums and extra vocals here, everything is recorded by a traditional bluegrass quintet: acoustic guitar, mandolin (that's one of the plucky, rhythmic "guitars" you listen to here), banjo, violin (fiddle) and double bass.
Great insight as always, Bryan! And I absolutely recommend checking The Phosphorescent Blues out, it's probably their most balanced album, between their proggiest and poppiest side.

When a dude gets a Mc Arthur genius grant for playing Mandolin, it’s got to be worth checking out, right?

unrelated question. why arent more women into good music? the stereotype of pop and hiphop is not just a stereotype in my experience. yet there is so much emotion in one of these gems. it feels elegant it feels engaging, pleasant and overall mood-giving

Yours is the most in-depth and analytical music reaction channel on TH-cam, in my opinion. You always seem open-minded and never dismissive, regardless of genre.
I know most viewers like to recommend heavy and brutal music, but I wonder if anybody has recommended a British Indie Rock/Folk Rock band called Smoke Fairies. They have a beautiful and ethereal and almost haunting sound. I think you would like it.
On the Metal front, Trees of Eternity might be to your liking.
Anyway, thanks for the video. I've never heard of this band, but I'll listen to this album for sure.

I don't think I've heard the name Smoke Fairies before but I'm intrigued.
