My Dad passed away some years back and was really big about taking care of his family. Fast forward to now, my mother’s health isn’t the best and I’m her care giver. BECAUSE MY DAD MARRIED MY MOM…there’s literally nothing I have to worry about other than getting my mom to were she needs to be and handling her appointments etc. because of their marriage, my mother still is on his health insurance over 15 years later. Because he married my mother she still receives his social security checks..I literally don’t have financial weight because my Dad put his family first. I had the same situation. My late mom’s final years were financial covered by my dad’s pension and insurance. She passed away with over $40k in the bank and lived her final years in a paid off house and no credit card debt. Once Yada told his story I finally understand now. The man literally got strong armed to stay with his wife cause she threatened to give him 44 years in prison for “allegedly” hitting her. And he said quote “if she couldn’t have me, she rather me be dead”. So what he do?? He STAYED! He literally had no choice. It was either leave and potentially get 44 years, plea down and get 15 years or STAY in the relationship. Now I see why he has the angle he has. He was referencing pre-modernity laws to state that women didn’t have as many rights as they have now. Ergo the laws put in place were relevant and needed, majority of women today are working and so there’s no need for the laws to lean the way they do. The female is future, yet women are not running in droves to restructure family court laws.

As a divorced woman, I do not understand this incentive this man speaks about regarding being divorced. There is no greater incentive than being with the man who is a provider.
@netnet6705 He is talking about the legal system. Many women with very little marry men with a lot. The law incentivizes them to divorce. This means it is easy for the woman, if she no longer feels like she wants this man, to divorce him, knowing the law requires that she gets at least 50%of the assets. This is one of the reasons why 70-80%of divorce is filed by the woman.

My Dad passed away some years back and was really big about taking care of his family. Fast forward to now, my mother’s health isn’t the best and I’m her care giver. BECAUSE MY DAD MARRIED MY MOM…there’s literally nothing I have to worry about other than getting my mom to were she needs to be and handling her appointments etc. because of their marriage, my mother still is on his health insurance over 15 years later. Because he married my mother she still receives his social security checks..I literally don’t have financial weight because my Dad put his family first. I had the same situation. My late mom’s final years were financial covered by my dad’s pension and insurance. She passed away with over $40k in the bank and lived her final years in a paid off house and no credit card debt. Once Yada told his story I finally understand now. The man literally got strong armed to stay with his wife cause she threatened to give him 44 years in prison for “allegedly” hitting her. This means it is easy for the woman, if she no longer feels like she wants this man, to divorce him, knowing the law requires that she gets at least 50%of the assets.
