Thanks for your video. In my case, there was no sound, up or down. I pulled the switch module, T20 screw. Carefully separated the upper switch assembly from the white connector body, exposing the electrical switches (Must pop off the button cap of the window lockout first). Applied CRC electrical contact cleaner, exercised the slider switch several times, and everything worked again.
I did a quick fix on mine the switch inside wasn’t alight I just pulled it apart and reseated it properly and it is working great again. Wouldn’t have tried if it wasn’t for this video thanks!
Hello, may I have a quick rundown on what setting you have on the multi meter tool? I'm completely new to this, and there seems to be so many options on the circular dial. Great video!
Thank you! The multi meter is great for various uses. You always set the meter to DC volts when checking. AC voltage is for a home. Essentially, I am using the meter to verify I am getting 12v DC before the motor and at the motor. I found here, the switch was not sending the power out to the window motor. But had power going into the switch.
I have a 2012 sentra. It has difficulty rolling down. I have to bump the switch up and down a few times to get it "loose" (in a sense) in order for it to roll down. Rolls up with no issue. Have you ever experienced this?
I cant say ive experienced that same thing.. You could take off the door panel, and test for power at the window motor and verify. If everything is good, then the issue might be your window regulator or motor.
RockLobster2000 there are two bolts at the bottom of the glass that connect it to the window regulator. One on the left and one on the right. Typically these can easily be found when the window is in the full UP or DOWN position from the factory.
RockLobster2000 in this case, both bolts were only visible in the DOWN position. With it being stuck up, the right bolt you can reach inside with a wrench and get it out. The left side I had to drill a small hole to access the bolt. You can barely spot it @ 2:30
@@After7Garage Thank you for the reply. In my case, I did remove the bolt while the window was up on the side closest to the mirror. Then, I "helped" the motor bring the window down to get the other bolt, which is recessed. I like your idea of drilling a hole to access the bolt. It's too bad Nissan doesn't make it easy to replace. There should be access points when the window is down or up. I replaced the motor, but the problem is that the window channel is binding the window. I'll have to tackle that problem in a few weeks. Again, thank you for the video!
I replaced the switch and still nothing. I already bought the motor but don't want to go through all the work because when I press the button I can hear the engine(actual car engine while running) go under load almost like something shorting out. Any ideas?
Question for some reason the switch up makes the window go down but I just bought the switch and the motor I can hear it . Can you make a how to repair the track Im positive I heard the track bolt fall I bumped the door to check I heard it .
Yeah that’s the question why would the switch make the window go down that’s the 3rd time I’ve replaced the powder switch but first time this switch switch issue has happen
Hope this is all I need for my 2007 Sentra. The light inside of the window switch is on but I never hear noise when I pull it up or down, but then again I never listened for it.
I would take the door panel off and unplug your window motor. Test for power coming from the switch first before taking out the window motor like I did.
2012 sentra driver side window, would get stuck sometimes and a couple jiggles of the switch would get it going. then it died completely for a day or so, I got lucky and it started working again. Last night it died again, I was using the switch to go up, and the thing decided it was going down. It got to the bottom and stayed there. My issue is the opposite of yours, window is stuck down, when I press down on the switch it sounds like it does something for a split second, up is completely dead.. Any guesses what the problem could be based on my description of the problem? I wont hold u to it im just going crazy until the new switch gets here to try out. Thanks! Also, how do I test the switch? I tried a test light to the connecter, only one hot wire and the other windows didnt go down as another video suggested(if i grounded the correct pin). I wanted to jump the wires at the switch to test if that is the problem but IDK what wires to use
I am having this same issue on my gal's Sentra. Did it end up being your switch? I have a new switch assembly arriving tomorrow to try out before I pull the motor and regulator. Thank you for your time!!
@@Balticblue93 Yes it was the switch in my case. It probably got wet a bunch of times. It used to no go down on the first shot but if I tried again it would, then it would get stuck for a couple days at a time and that's when I replaced the switch and it fixed it. I have been pretty lucky with cheap fixtures on this car, the side mirrors with motor or like 35 bucks each. I'm going to sell the car so I want to redo the lenses on the headlights and tail lights
haven't tried this out yet but my Window seems to be nonresponsive for moving upwards and goes downwards usually. It's given me trouble before when I first bought it in 2016, as I could tell it had the door popped before and has a warp, but replacing the switch and applying lubricant made me feel better about it. As of right now my window has been stuck down since I last needed to lower it. This video seems like great help! But I just find it odd that your switch does the opposite. Responds to Up but doesn't for Down. I'll be sure to respond to this comment if this helps out tomorrow
After what we learned in my video above, it would be more time effective to test the switch and wiring by unplugging the motor and checking for 12v in the up and down position. That should save you time from removing the window regulator and motor assembly if the culprit is just the switch. Good luck!
My Nissan Sentra has the same issue windows won’t go down all the windows stopped working around the same time I checked and changed the fuses still nothing getting a new master switch so hopefully that solves my problem
I have the same issue. I ordered a new switch off Amazon for 20 bucks (it has great reviews) and am hoping this fixes the problem. Otherwise I’m gonna have to cut the cables to the regulator just to get my windows up if my window goes down, but not back up.
Hector Nieves yes you are correct, however the switch is usually not the culprit. I should have made that more clear thank you! My goal was for you to learn with me as I discovered the problem.
Thank You very much. I went to Pull-a-Parts today and pulled a motor and regulator for about 30 bucks. My driver's side does not respond but when it first happened I thought there was slight movement like the window was stuck now nothing. Unfortunately I don't have a way to test the switch.....but I would hate to go thru all that trouble of installing to find out its something else going on. Someone told me I should plug the new motor in first to see if it works before removing motor and regulator in the car now. If that doesn't work its the switch I deduce from your window. Is it possible its a fuse problem? The other three windows work.
I would take your door panel off and unplug your window motor, and plug it into your used one you just got and test it before install like you said. If it still doesn’t work it’s probably the switch. Unless you have bad luck and the part you pulled is also bad haha. Get a cheap multi meter from the store and confirm you have voltage at the connector to the motor when you press the switch. This will answer all your questions. It is almost never a fuse for an issue like this, that would affect all windows. Good luck!
Correct. Sorry the video is not straight forward, I wanted you to see my trial and error. But yes, unplug the motor and see if you get power to the motor in both up/down positions.
I assumed a bad window motor like 90% of cars need, customer provided part too. I just documented the whole process so you could see my faults. You can definitely check the switch without removing the door.
Yes it does seem a bit intimidating but I just wanted to show you every part. If your window is not functioning I would first take off the door panel and test for power at the window motor before disassembling.
2012 sentry...hopped in and put window down...stayed down...next day i was able to put it back up( fixed itself) woke up next day it went half down on it's own overnight...of course been raining all week 😮😮
That’s wild! I would recommend checking the switch first as learned in this video. Seems to be a common issue. If not, then prepare for new window motor and regulator
