This year is Brunson's biggest challenge in the playoffs. He had good runs last year and two years ago, but two years ago the opposing teams definitive game plan was all about Luka. Last year Randle was the first option on the Knicks, he put up the most shots and was the All NBA and All Star Player, so the opposing teams main focus was him. This year every team the Knicks play will focus on Brunson. He showed he can step up in the regular season. Now he needs to do it in the playoffs. Hope to see a big game from him tonight.
Need to? All he needs to do is have gravity. When an NBA staff focuses in on stopping you it will be at least somewhat effective. You sound entitles.

@tyshaunselah7386 What's with the all caps? Luka missed three games, not the entire series, and Brunson won two without Luka. Brunson started that season coming off the bench. At that point Brunson had never taken over a game. The 41 points he had in game 2 of that series was his career high at the time. The defense was not ready for him.
I get what you’re saying. Brunson wasn’t getting triple teamed before this season…
Ya'll are OVERREACTING over 1 game. Miami and the Cavs were not focusing on Randle last year in the playoffs, he was basically injured, it was Brunson who was the main focus.
Besides, Brunson's bad shooting from the field, the 3pt line, free throws and turnovers wasn't so much the Sixers defense as it was that Brunson doesn't usually play well after an extended period of time off. He was lackluster coming off the All-star break last year, last year game 1 against the Cavs and this year after the All-star break. He will show up like has all season long.
Besides, he still gave the team 22, 7 and 7. That's the beauty of the Knicks team this season, Brunson can have an off game and the team can still find ways to win. That wasn't the case last season. It's the next man up mentality that the Knicks have shown all season long. Brunson and Donte will be fine. Let's go Knicks.

I hope Gus is on the call again him and Clyde were amazing .. and Gus is right ppl are going over the top with a taller player guarding jalen Brunson like that has not happened a million times.. we know jalen can.. shit look what he did last year in the playoffs against 2 of the best defensive teams in the Cavs and heat.. especially the heat with the way they play and Brunson schooled them..
and i must not know enough cause i had no idea oubre was that good of a defender.. i think it was more just rust.. knicks were off for a week and the adrenaline was prob crazy for the knicks with how crazy MSG was.. i knew they were gonna get off to a slow start

JB just needs to space the floor and use his elusiveness he has to play chess now with intensity. Hes our king and would never slander him but. No Julius makes him the main priority and his size does put an incredible amount of pressure on him by the defense. Attacking him for 4 quarters is tough for anyone. Idc how good you are getting doubled by guys half a foot taller then you at some point gets tiresome. Time to adjust. Also JB will be fine because psychologically seeing his teammates secure the win when he was off. Will settle him to be even better going forward. Not worried a bit but damn embiid is actually near impossible to defend

This is not the way win a series. This need to trust the bench. They are carrying the team. Brunson should not have been in the game to put rhe Knicks in such disadvantageous position.

Still start Donte, but sub him out relatively quickly for Deuce. And have Deuce clamp him. And in high PnR with Embiid and Maxey, the center HAS to play up. No drop coverage to compensate for Embiid's rolling ability

It's not about stopping Embid or Maxey. Certain players are going to get their numbers regardless. It's about making them WORK for their points which means tiring them out. Also, make sure the others Sixers player's don't get going. You can't win a series with 1 or 2 players doing all the work. That's what great about the Knicks this season. It's not all about Julius (before the injury) or Brunson doing all the work, it's also about the other guys competing and contributing on BOTH ends of the floor.
The next man up mentality has been the Knicks identity all season long. They find ways to win and the others have stepped up all season. The Sixers and alot of teams rely too much on 1 to 2 players, that's not championship basketball. It's still a TEAM sport.
