I wanna talk about some great maps from Three Hopes. Spoiler below Black Eagles: the second to last map in the Kill Byleth route. Edelgard FINALLY gets the three-way battle she was denied in CF. A fight where you have Hubert counter Claude's plans, fight the kingdom+Seteth and Flayn and if the three lords meet at the center, you get an unique 3 way conversation. And the pre-battle cutscenes where Edelgard orders the army to show the Empire's supremacy and the fact you finally defeat a Sothis-possessed Byleth? Adrestia does indeed show how terrifying it can be Blue Lions: chapter 8. Dimitri is held hostage by Cornelia and Felix is your de-facto ""lord"" in terms of story. You are in a mad rush to save Dimitri, Dedue, Rodrigue and Gilbert. And after the battle, Felix gives Dimitri a well-deserved scolding that shows that he still cares, a lot Golden Deer: the last map. Claude preceeds Edelgard and the alliance plus Nader has an epic final battle against Rhea with a beautiful song that is Seiros' equivalent of God Shattering Star. And during the battle, a certain someone makes an epic comeback to save the only person he cares about. Not gonna spoil on this one :))
I really like how the last two maps of Azure Moon plays like the Embarr invation map ( even if was reused) I like how is full of things to slow down the kingdom army, it gives the vibe of this being the Empire last stand, the empire is pretty much fighting an already loose battle since the biggest army since probably the war of Heroes is marching onward, the Empire already lost power over Faerghus, the safest bet was conquering Deidru but they fail and two of their pillars in the war ( Cornelia and Arundel) died, this is a definitly a desparate intent to win the war Edelgard has become a literal monster to win , this also serves as an ending of the relationship between Dimitri and Edelgard that was shown during all the route ,their clash of ideals and how only one of them will prevail and how at the end with the dagger scene is a call back when Dimitri gave the dagger to Edelgard so she could cut her own path and now is Edelgard giving him the dagger as a way to cut his path away from her the past that hunts him and walk to the future.
@@TerraTheHamsterI mean since she knew the only way for Dimitri to kill her was by being backed into a snap decision, I guess she could’ve pulled the knife and thrust herself into the Areadbhar, tho it does conflict with the end of the original cutscene with Dimitri letting her go instead of holding her dying in his arms. Just a thought
God I love Silver Snow's final map so much. After feeling like you've attained victory you're forced back to the battlefield for one last bout against the woman you were trying to save the entire second part. Funeral of Flowers is such a somber theme that drives home the tragedy of the situation, and Seteth putting his emotions aside to do what needs to be done adds a lot of depth to his personality and develops him very nicely.
I went dimitri at first and he's my favourite so I think whatever your first path is probably gonna be your favourite, but crimson flower is second for me even though it was my last path!
Three notes. First, that is a wild take on Conquest (my personal favorite) as most people hate the story but enjoy the gameplay and especially praise Chapter 10 which I find incredibly stressful even playing it on the lowest difficulty. Second, you've reminded me of my first (and only) time playing Revelation and I wanted to eat dinner and had food ready and it was going to be right after all the dialogue from beating 16 but it goes into 17 so I couldn't just stop playing and had to struggle to play and eat. Third, God Shattering Star is the reason to choose Golden Deer; Blue Lions is my favorite route but it's no God Shattering Star.
@@deadlineuniverse3189I don't think any map is difficult on Pheonix, but surprisingly even on easy chapter 10 can actually be rough if you're not careful, which is really a testament how carefully designed it is

It's awesome to see the opinions on Conquest's maps here in the comments. They all have such great quirks. My favorite is actually the first, against the Faceless. It immediately shows that one wrong move, and one turn of just enemy phasing, is what will end Conquest runs.
God someone else who loved the takumi chapter in conquest it is so thematically excellent!!! I also just love the retainers on it, you really get attached to them as they have 2 appearences, and you see how much they've grown at the same time as you. Takumi is geniunely an insane menace, which shows you how threatening the other royal siblings will be, Hinata safe guarding the entrance, which is the most dangerous position, as he owes Takumi his life, but also how it shows his care for Oboro as well like omg...and then Oboro being the last line of defense for Takumi and the most trusted retainer, she loves him so much. Oboro and Hinata having opposite skills of eachother also goes hard, they're such an amazing pair.
I don’t remember possesed like that. Mainly because I ignored Hinata and co and had Camilla taxi my entire army over to the wall to rush takumi directly
Good choices overall, but for Conquest and Engage I'd pick other maps. My favourite Conquest map is probably either Chaper 10 or 25 and for Engage it's Fell Xenologue 6. It saddens me that people bash it left and right, but to me it's a difficult map done right that also has so many emotional dialogues and such a cool atmosphere. The music slap too.
Haaaaaard disagree on Conquest Ch.25 being a contender. It can easily be cheesed if you're aware it's coming, a bit of an annoying crawl on lower difficulties, and downright malicious on Lunatic. Ch.10 though, 100%. It's peak.
@@neog8029 I fully routed it on my Blind Lunatic run even though I could beat it with just Corrin. It expects a lot from you, but there's nothing wrong with it to me, I didn't even have a Shurikenbreaker unit when I beat it.

I especially love how the feeling of the game changes, with early game feeling very puzzle-like, then becoming more and more freeflowing the more your units grow and the more you can customize them. It just sometimes feels suffocating on Lunatic, with it being really really brutal. I don't understand how 11 and 12 "flopped" so hard, they're probably the cleanest games in the series. Yeah, Kris is controversial within the fandom, but that's entirely an internal thing, just like Edelgard--people on the outside, or those who can actually appreciate the game on its own merits, don't really give a damn about these Doyleist semantics. Anyways, their map design is excellent; clear UI; replayability is through the roof thanks to free reclassing; they're fairly streamlined to play though New Mystery is much busier than Shadow Dragon; the music is solid; and the stories, Kris included, are solid. Nothing special but it's worth it for the consistency. The biggest criticism of either that isn't just down to semantic preference, is the sprites, and they're serviceable. The only other big complaint about SD are the restrictions on the prologue/gaidens and that's not really part of the core gameplay experience.
I see the point and for fe12 I feel its the most underrated fe game personally but for shadow dragon, i think what you're saying is the reason its opposed. Its a bit bland, nothing really exciting or standout and a so-so cast. You might like that, but I think others find other games more engaging
