Hi Zach. I believe the defense attorney was attempting to show that the traffic stop was invalid. In doing so, the defense hopes to lay the groundwork that all subsequent evidence found (Samantha's property & blood) in Mr. Rowland's car is inadmissible. See "fruit from the poisonous tree". Naturally, this gambit only works when the stop has no other reason. The defense attorney is aware that police are allowed to stop a vehicle that is similar to a vehicle which has been reported and described as being involved in the commission of a crime. The police here were searching for a kidnap victim and a dark impala, as testimony indicates. The stop was legal. Defense gambit fails.

Can you imagine having to chase a suspect, especially at night, that has run, not knowing whether he has a gun or not? The cops have to worry about possibly getting shot or having to shoot the suspect because he shot or drew a gun on them. On top of all that even if the cop is in the right, he has to worry about having to go to court to prove that and his name is mud no matter what. And nowadays even if he is proven to be in the right his life is made miserable. The majority of men in prison did not have fathers when growing up. Part of the responsibility rests with this mother! My point is that Ted Bundy was a true physcopath that committed over 20 murders and more. Ted Bundy was an actual serial killer. This Nathaniel committed one murder. He was found driving around with the car, her phone, and blood throughout the car at 4 in the morning. Clearly he's not the brightest bulb and not a serial killer.
In conclusion, since you can't tell. My point is you said Ted Bundy did the same thing and were comparing the two. Maybe he did want to relive the crimes like Bundy. But they have very little in common besides both killing at some point.

@@mith2946 I said “the same thing” in regards to the fact that both of them chose to go to trial knowing they had mountains of evidence against them just because it gave them some kind of sick pleasure. I literally never said Nathaniel Rowland was a serial killer. Seems like you’re the one with reading comprehension issues. Shocker.
By the way- Ted Bundy was literally caught because he was driving around at 3am with his headlights off and all of his murder tools including a ski mask, rope, bloody clothing, and various weapons. Not sure why you think he was some sort of evil genius compared to Rowland. Ted only got away with those murders for so long because it was 50 years ago. Do you not realize how much easier it was to commit crimes before DNA, phone data, surveillance cameras, and online information databases? The only difference between these two men is the time period. Same mindset, same MO. Just better technology. You should probably put some thought into your arguments before making them. In verse 9, the psalmist adds further detail to this cry for revenge, claiming, “Happy is the one” who kills the infants of their enemy. The desire is graphically stated, but it is simply a call for the destruction of the entire nation-the nation that had enslaved the Jews, killed their babies, and destroyed their city. The destruction of Babylon was expressly foretold in Isaiah 13:16, and by referencing that prediction, the psalmist may mean to say that the men who were God’s instruments in carrying out that prophecy would be happy in doing His will.
If we keep in mind that the psalms are songs that express intense emotions, a statement such as “Happy is the one who seizes your infants and dashes them against the rocks” should not shock us. The writer did not intend to go out and kill babies; rather, he desired justice, which required the death of his enemies. Even today, those who have lost loved ones at the hands of others understandably desire the death of those who committed the crime.

@@short_bus_ridin I'm no expert on the US system, but almost every justice system on earth provides you with incentives to plead guilty. You are almost always worse off if you are found guilty at trial.
The reasons are obvious - a trial is expensive and puts the family of the victim through a form of living hell.
In this case, where the offender was moronic enough to leave an overwhelming trail of evidence before, during and after the offence, and where he had literally zero defence, going to trial was very likely a poor decision and against the advice of his council.
Offenders like this usually have severe personality disorders and my guess is that he was simply enjoying being the center of attention. He knew he would never breath free air again so he wanted his last hurrah.

@@tullochgorum6323 I'm not sure where you are from, but in the U.S. sometimes criminals are given bargaining chips or plea deals by their lawyers or the D.A. to plead guilty and save the time and expense of a trial. But until you receive one of those options any lawyer will tell you to not plead guilty. I said it sounds wrong because it is. It puts the family thru a trial and cost everyone involved but that is how it works. I know from personal experience "from a friend" that in the U.S. if you ever plead guilty to any criminal charges at all, you can not get a gun permit or a security job/license. They punish those that wish to just admit guilt and be done with it. It sounds backwards but I am right sir.

His mom has the almost fatal misunderstanding that good upbringing somehow guarantees he is not capable of evil. She doesn't understand that some evil is not breeded, it can literally be created out of thin air. Someone surrounded by love can commit evil deeds. Conversely, someone surrounded by evil is NOT guaranteed to commit evil deeds himself. While you should do all you can to raise your child right, you should never assume they are not capable of evil.
