I use foam window or door weatherstripping on my licence plate. A strip along the top and bottom of the plate. Works perfect. Looking forward to the new rig!!
Ever since I watched your pedal commander video, I've been hesitant on getting it ever since. But I've had it for a few months now. No issues! I love this thing
Just got back from the gym and seen you have a new video! Immediately I sat down with an adult beverage and enjoyed your knowledge of vehicles! Thanks to you and your little Viking! Much love from AZ! 🇺🇸
My main noisemaker was the front wheel well splash guards. At hwy speed, they made a racket. It wasn't cheap, but worth it to replace them with Ark splash guards. They run silent now.
Anyone else have a rattle/noise coming from the left side maybe dash area or firewall? Its driving me crazy. Has to be something the wind is making move/rattle while driving.
I know exactly where you can start looking, follow me on instagram and message me there… I’ll point you in the right direction 😉 (I can’t add or show pictures here) I can on instagram
Bonus, the rubber flaps next to the wheels in the front (on the engine bay sides) can rattle. Putting a small cabletie under the plastic clips will make it tighter and stop rattling. Was an issue with my 2023 10 month old 4Runner
This is a great channel and I am a new subscriber who owns a 2012 4Runner with 130,000 miles. It is the best vehicle I have ever owned! I have a question, is a bypass oil filter a good idea?
Welcome to the channel!! Because I am a firm believer in OEM stuff and parts, I would be against. But do your research before committing and see if it’s worth it.
@@VikingsGarage Thank you for your response to my question and I agree with you about Toyota OEM parts! I know they use oil bypass systems on Diesel trucks and in the military because they can filter the oil down to 2 microns that is significant when you consider a full flow filter can only achieve around 20 microns. I think I will wait, continue to research and see.
For the license plate you can buy a silicone plate spacer, it’s pretty much a slab of silicone that is the size of the plate and I think they’re like $8
I feel silly asking this if it has been answered. Recently purchased ‘20 4Runner TRD Pro. Once I hit 40-50 mph, I get a strange vibration noise from the steering wheel…left side to be exact. Sounds kinda like it’s from the front, no clue if someone has found a solution.
m.th-cam.com/video/DzSrrRPE7pk/w-d-xo.html&pp=ygUcMjAyMyA0cnVubmVyIGZ1ZWwgcHVtcCBub2lzZQ%3D%3D Does this sound normal? If link does show it’s on TH-cam “2023 4Runner fuel pump noise”
No joke about the rodents...Living in Florida, I had my wire harness chewed by rodents when the temps dropped into the forties. Dealership told me it was common because the wires are made with a soy based material and when it gets cold, they look for warm areas and while there, they start munching. Luckily it was covered by my insurance.
I'd like to lubricate the suspension components and bushings. I've seen lithium grease being used and a product called AT 205 Re-Seal. Can you recommend anything? Thanks
Ours makes noise also. I took it in thinking Toyota would fix it and the service writer said the whole interior door panel would have to be replaced. Also Toyota says it was our fault for putting to much weight on the armrest and it would not be covered by warranty. Afterwords I was thinking does he think I stood on it or something. I kind of forgot about it but now Winter came back and we use them, so the squeak is back and annoying.
Great tips, thanks! With the deposit already put down, does this mean that JP gets the red 4Runner now? He's outgrown the yellow Vette, right? Fasten your seatbelt, Paul, it's going to be a super-fast 16 years! They'll be gone before you know it. Ask me how I know. :))
Any recommendations on settings for a proper alignment, on a 4Runner in stock form. Toyota Dealership is super expensive but also don't want to risk it with a local inexperienced tire shop.
I would stick to the Toyota dealership, the alignment machine is calibrated often to the correct and approved Toyota specs. Yes the dealership is more expensive but it’s worth it.
To clean the Cowl are you mean, any vacuum will do. The device I show on camera works more like a compressor, so the idea/end goal is to shoot pressurized air into the (sunroof drains & A/C drain hose). So you would need something that shoots air out, preferably with a long tip(to make your job easier). 👍🏻
Question for you. I know it will be difficult to answer but i trust your thoughts. 22 SR5, I had an Eibach lift 2.75 in front and 1 inch in back. I also added Toyo 33's. Literally the day i got the work done I hear what I best can describe as a rubbing noise. I removed the mud flaps and shaved the front a little. Noise does not go away and I see no indication of rubbing. Sometime I hear it going straight so that in theory should remove the the whole rubbing issue. it happens with a slight turn and sometimes going straight 1-3 miles per hour and then gone. I am mechanically inclined but I am absolutely stumped. I am a subscriber of yours and would appreciate any advice or thoughts. CV Axle? Sincerely appreciate it
I truly want to help you, but nothing obvious comes to mind. Noises are hard to diagnose in person and literally impossible over a message. I do appreciate your support!!
@@VikingsGarage hey brother. I appreciate you. I’ve exhausted everything and I was hoping you’d go. Ya know what? I once heard that after a lift and this is what it is.
Take the bracket off and flip it??? Have you ever worked at a dealer where people complain all they long. I’m just here sharing some of the techniques we use. 🤷🏼♂️

This is why I love this community so much. We all share such great ideas and tips. I love your suggestions!! 👍🏻👍🏻
The New Rig is Epic!! I love it!!

Im glad it’s working out for you. 👍🏻
Thank you!!! Didn't know about the tubes getting clogged, super helpful. Little man is ready to wrench! 😂😂 Can't wait for the next vid 🙏🙏🙏
Thank you Sir!! 🙏🏻😉

Love all the hacks and tips. Your lil helper is adorable! Keep up the great work!! Your videos are awesome!!
Thank you Sir!! 🙏🏻
Thanks for sharing, I was like crazy looking for where that rattling in the back door comes from and I finally found it thanks to you.💯💯💯💯👍👍👍👍
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I’m happy and glad you found it!!

I actually know personally what you mean, I once chased that noise for a whole day. Very Annoying indeed
Great tips! One suggestion - you can put the tape on the back of the plate instead of putting the tape on the trucks paint.
Very good point!
I got a TPU cover for the tag. Fits on super tight and stops the rattling, even with my Sundown 12” sub in the back.
👍🏻
Great job. Can’t wait to see your new ride.
Thank you, picking it up this Saturday. 🎉🍾😉
Great video and outstanding practical info VG!!! And congrats on the new hire (mechanics these days...they're getting younger and younger).
LOL , ain’t that the truth.
Thank you for your support!!
This video is GOLD. You are a Saint!
🙏🏻☺️
Extending your A/C drain line helps with keeping your frame clean from corrosion in that area.
Correct, I have covered this in the past! 😉

? 2018 4Runner squeaking noise (like springs) rear end was told it was not shocks. Noise stopped…but came back after I had my breaks done.
I wish I could help, noises can only be diagnosed in person . 🤷🏼♂️

Great vid with your boy helping you ! I'm going to lube the hatch latch so it doesn't rust...i'm in the rust belt too! New T4R coming ???
Smart!! 👏🏻👏🏻 exciting
I have a 5th gen 4runner and found that the 2 rubber bumpers under the hood are adjustable, they thread in or out to help tension the hood.
This is very true, often times if not properly adjusted… your hood will rattle.
What’s the noise that comes from top right side of engine when ac is on. Sounds like a fluid pump or something .
Any info would be great

Practically impossible to diagnose a noise this way, can’t say it rings any bells
@@VikingsGarage it’s all good, I appreciate the reply. Be well!
@Hangngainz I hope you can figure it out soon. 🙏🏻
can you hear the fuel pump when the car is running if you are right where the tank and skid plate is ?
Not super loud but if you are paying close attention, you can hear it.

That’s all absolutely true, as crazy as it sounds TOYOTA used soy in their wire material. It’s usually an expensive mess. Glad yours was covered. 😅

Would have to diagnose it in person

I’m sorry, they always try to get out of it for sure.
Have you ever repaired a squeak coming from the soft piece of the arm rest. If you did did you have to replace the whole interior door panel? Thanks
The only time I fixed a squeak from a door on a 4runner the whole panel was replaced. So yes.

Right on my friend, it’s crazy how fast they grow.
There’s a twist with the red 4runner….
Stay tuned!
I have a brand new 2024 4Runner TRD ORP with KDSS. Intermittent sound like a baby rattle under the armrest when turning. Any ideas?
🤷🏼♂️
if you use reusable zip ties, it would be easily undone for the spare tire.
That’s a great point!
Just keeping it simple and easy for the average Joe.
Thank you for watching!! 🙏🏻

What would be a good vacuum to use besides a shopvac if we don't have one.

What’s a good OEM source for the cabin air filter? I’m seeing all sorts of part numbers online.

I have a Toyota Tacoma 2023 is it hard to install the tailgate remote lock from Toyota thanks
I’ve only done it once, it’s not that hard.
I fell for you guys who live in the Rust Belt.
It’s crap 🤷🏼♂️
Are the headlight on a 4Runner a nightmare to change like on a Prius?
I wouldn’t call it a nightmare, but the bumper does have to come off.
Great tips, wrote them down…trying to get 300k out of my ORP, maybe more…
Shouldn’t be a problem. 👍🏻
Where did you get your backseat protectors from?
Bought it a while back in Amazon. No name brand.
how did the hardware inside the rear hatch get rusty?
That’s the Rust belt for you!!
Gets everywhere.
Why not just take the bracket off and flip it? Seems like adding Tape is just a bandaid
Take the bracket off and flip it???
Have you ever worked at a dealer where people complain all they long. I’m just here sharing some of the techniques we use. 🤷🏼♂️
I think you're supposed to put the tape on the license plate and not your paint.
Your very right, I’ve actually found a license plate bracket that eliminates tape all together
Why the hell it so corrosive
New Jersey Baby, rust belt area. It’s devastating on the vehicles.
Noises caused by rust
A few…
