- "Voodoo" by Godsmack made it into one of my favorite songs on this channel when I heard it the first time a couple months ago... and I've been yearning for more. Based on your recommendations of a similar sound, y'all weren't wrong. "Serenity" - not the ship in Firefly - is now ahead of "Voodoo". How is that possible?!?!
Join professional opera singer Elizabeth Zharoff, as she listens to Godsmack performing "Serenity" for the first time.

As if I couldn’t like this woman anymore, she goes and drops a firefly reference. We’re all nerds here and I love it
I had no doubt that she was a Browncoat. None. I'd be curious to know if she has a favorite character in the ensemble.
this is the comment i was hoping to find! absolute yes!!!!!
she has to react to Tear Away by Drowning Pool
Browncoats forever!
I'm so glad this is the top comment ;) Upvote, keep on rocking!
Also... wouldn't it be cool if a fan cut and spliced this song with appropriate video from the show to make a fan made video? I'm not the one... to do it, not my skillset... but I'd love to see it done.
A Tea Time interview with Sully would be incredible. He’s intelligent and insightful and obviously a brilliant composer and musician. Would love to see you make that happen.
THIS!!! So much this!
Please?🎉
Godsmack are so underrated and extremely talented, I highly recommend seeing them in concert. There's zero drop in quality from their live performance compared to their albums. I hope Spiral, Hollow, Bleeding Me, Something Different, Generation Day, and Lighting up the Sky will be considered for future videos!
I remember seeing them live for the first time and going "Holy Shit! They're BETTER live than on the album!" Godsmack is amazing live!!!
It's in my mind its all because of Sully. He's the most talented member and the man can play damn near every instrument. He blew me away when he played drums and did a like drum off vs. His drummer and I felt bad for their drummer Sully showed him up and it wasn't even close.
Truth and Under Your Scars are two of my favorite Godsmack songs.
Yaasssssss! Check them out!!
Under your scars live is just a freaking vibe.
It is such a change of pace and shows his diversity as a singer.
I just heard Under Your Scars for the first time yesterday after watching this video. I watched the live video about 10 times back-to-back.
Really good song. I am surprised you haven't reacted to "Unforgettable" yet, the theme of the video is music education. I think you would REALLY enjoy it!
Also, Sully would be a fantastic interview if you ever had the opportunity. 🤘
Unforgettable is such an amazing song! Reallyyy looking forward to her listening to it and watching the video for it!
I be interested in her opinion of the work they did with the school children.
Yes. The song and video brought me to tears. I’m not exaggerating.
Came to say this. Great song and awesome video!
I would love to see you interview Sully.
You think he would actually do it? He may think he's to good for that
@@amd1273 Why would he think that? Nothing he's ever shown or done has showcased that kind of personality.
Me too!
Yesssss interview sully that would be awesome!!
Opera Singer, Metal fan, AND a Brown Coat. She just keeps getting cooler.
I need to know if she's Horde or Alliance?
Godsmack is one of the top bands of all time. Their music is sometimes hypnotic, sometimes hard driving and then sometimes just in your face hard rock!
Seven years - Sully Erna
You would so think it's pure magic, perfection 💞
YES! It's so good!
Pure magic and perfection indeed! I need to see this reaction happen.
I hope she sees this
I second that
Sinner's Prayer, Broken Road, Avalon, heck just about any song from his solo Avalon album is good. I personally am partial to Broken Road and Sinner's Prayer.
I love this song and a fact I feel like anyone who loves it should know that : This song was inspired by Rush drummer Neil Peart's book Ghost Rider: Travels on the Healing Road. Godsmack lead singer Sully Erna used to be a drummer and is a huge fan of Peart. The book is about a road trip Peart took across the US on his motorcycle, which helped him deal with the tragic death of both his daughter and wife. When I found that out it really hit me in the heart strings.
I'm surprised she didn't bring that up, it definitely makes the song extra special if you know what happened to Neil.
The book was hard to get through, but I'm glad I read it. All hail The Professor a.k.a Bubba a.k.a Pratt. ;)
Didn''t watch the video to see if she brought this up (not much of a Godsmack fan), but I'm glad someone did!
"I am a leaf on the wind. Watch how I soar." I needed this today. One of my favorites.
"I aim to misbehave" is a close second quote
Firefly
@@gumpf3812 "the 'special' hell!"
The only stickers I have on my car - a small logo from my university, and the first half of this quote.
"I am a leaf on the wind. Watch how I soar." This is also a very good mantra when trying to find Serenity in meditation.
Godsmack--"Truth" to see a progression in Sully's voice. Really great!
@thecharismaticvoice Definitely need to check out "Truth(beneath your scars)". It's a vocal and lyrical masterpiece for Godsmack!!
Beautiful song
I saw them when I was about 15, they played Alice Cooper, a7x, Rob zombie and korn on Halloween so it was pretty crazy.
THis song was inspired by late Rush drummer Neil Peart's book Ghost Rider : Travels on the Healing Road.
For your next Godsmack you should check out Under Your Scars
Firefly is when TV peaked. There will never be anything like it again.
Keep being amazing, you have no idea how much you are appreciated.
Very interesting, you used a Firefly reference while Serenity was being reviewed.
Sully Erna also has a couple solo albums. My favorite is Avalon. That album is amazing and continues to show the talent Sully has from playing the piano to percussion to singing. Simply amazing. Especially the song until then and broken road. ❤
That album was amazing to be part of. Glad you like it!
Oh my effing god! Is this what old feels like? I saw Godsmack live......23 years ago! 😮
You think you feel old, I worked at the post office when they mailed their DEMO CD’s out!
I remember going to WAAF's indoor beach party (won tickets from radio station) to see them in 1999
I was in Boston for college for broadcast engineering. I had done lighting and sound previously as well. My roommates were recording arts majors. One of their profs was sound engineer at Mama Kins. They had a big gig coming up and needed help. Why not? Go home a few months later and I hear them on an Albany NY station. It was Godsmack! Really cool guys.
I saw them at the Cow palace in San Francisco with Metallica about that time.
24 for me, @ Ozzfest 2000 😊
YES Unforgettable with the band kids will blow your mind
That was filmed down the street from me at my sons middle school!
YEP!
One of my all time favs in Godsmack's repertoire.. their acoustic album "The Other Side" belongs in every rock fan's collection.. if you don't have it you missing out..
This right here. The other side is a masterpiece.
Touché
Sully's first solo album is also quite good.
Is acoustic version of Re-Align from that album? Absolutely incredible
Came here to say exactly that
Agree, Firefly was amazing!! So was Serenity!! Wish they’d make another!
Love Firefly and Serenity (the movie and this song). Thanks for nerding out with us!
The new music video for "Truth" was really good, the emotion on his face is really powerful.
Great song
That song made me tear up. From just living through that same situation. I recently divorced my wife of 7 years for cheating.
Unfortunately based on Sullys personal experience, as are most of their songs.
Was watching that just before I made my way to this video.
Unforgettable, being a teacher of music, it's a wonderful theme behind it. Also under your scars
It's Funny that Godsmack used to play at a night club near my house years ago!! Hearing them Before them being one of the Best Groups gives me the chills!! 👍💯♥️♥️♥️🇺🇲 AMAZING!!!
"Unforgettable " is a must.
one of the best live shows ever.
the crowd interaction is top-tier. Sully is a born showman.
Bulletproof is my favorite Godsmack song, but under your stars is really good as well.
Great songs!
The video for Bulletproof is F'n hilarious!
*scars
Thanks for the correction

Your joy is my joy. Every one of your videos is like when you take a friend to a special vacation destination and you want so badly for them to like it as much as you. Then, you get there and see their eyes light up...they love it as much as you. Being able to experience so much of the music through your (new) eyes (ears) makes me smile and warms my heart.
Yes! Firefly and Serenity are so good. Every year or two I binge watch Firefly and then finish with Serenity. Such good characters and lines.
Godsmack has always been my favorite band because I share the same struggles he has. The first time I ever heard the word for a certain drug it was because of my father telling me what voodoo was about. The sun symbol was my.first tattoo and his lyrics are etched into my soul forever! Asleep is my favorite song of his. It's the acoustic version of Awake!!! CHECK INTO THAT ONE!!!
yess! to be honest, their whole acoustic album is top notch!
Sully Erna is a great vocalist/lyricist. You should check out his solo songs as well as more Godsmack!❤
The song 7 Years, we need to see that!
I got to see Godsmack play this song live in concert last night.
I knew you'd love this one!! I've seen them live and they knock it out of the park every time
ps: Spiral or Voodoo would be great as a next Godsmack choice :)
You need to listen to Godsmacks's Under your scars. It literally brings me to tears. And the mission behind it.... it's amazing. Find a live version.
Yes, please review Under Your Scars!
Godsmack Unforgettable!!! You will love the video
You really need to see them live their shows are incredible. I saw them earlier this week for the second time and they did not disappoint yet again
Unforgettable and Asleep. Both really good too.
Asleep back to back with Awake.
I'm a huge sci-fi nerd, I've probably watched every sci-fi tv series ever broadcast in the U.S.. My two most favorite shows are Firefly and Farscape, with Out of Gas being my favorite episode.
Out of Gas is one of the best episodes of tv ever.
Love Farscape too!
To see the light in your eyes describing your feelings is so fun to watch.
I'm so happy for this song! Goosebumps Everytime. I need Serenity....
I've been waiting for you to do this one. One of my favorites for sure!
I have the intro of this MASTERPIECE set up as the ringtone for my closest family. So intimate, so primal, so raw, so POWERFUL!
Serenity is one of the songs that saved me. I’m so glad you decided to cover this one!! The way it’s done is absolutely incredible and I love the way the instrumentals mix with the vocals so much! Sully’s voice is so unique and beautiful!
Yes, interview Sully. Incredible human.
Running Blind acoustic version. This is my dark days music!
Godsmack has been around for over 25 years. Their library of music is just hit after hit. Straight Out Of Line, When Legends Rise and Under Your Scars. Those are just 3 of their many, many great songs.
One of the best shows I've ever seen was an all acoustic Godsmack show in Manchester, NH.
Yasss, Queen! Thanks for listening to our requests. This is one of my faves and i knew you'd love it. I'm a little late but I've been waiting for this moment!
This song was written after Godsmack's lead singer Sully Erna read a book called "Ghost Rider". The book was written by the drummer of the band "Rush", Neil Peart. The book is about Neil Peart's experiences of taking a road trip across America on a motorcycle to cope with the loss of his wife and daughter. Sully used this book as inspiration for the lyrics.
Also, Godsmack is awesome and an excellent live band too.
It sounds like Neil was a huge influence on Sully. He's made comments here and there.
I would love for you to do a reaction to Godsmack, Touché live: featuring John Kosco in Las Vegas. The vocals and the harmonies in that performance are just top-notch. You would love it!
And reefer headed woman from the same show
I couldn't agree more
@@trashpanda9542 I was in a band with John Kosco in 1990/91.
@@bourbonandbeard9721 I was in a band with John Kosco in 1990/91
Touché is an awesome song!!
Was teetering on the edge pretty hard today, watching her geek out to music helps a lot. Then to hear she's as big of a Firefly fan as I am was awesome.
You are definitely a treasure, your work here does immense good. Thank you sooo much for bringing me back from the brink so many times, more than you know
Fantastic song! Wonderful analysis! Godsmack is a great live band. I just got done rewatching Firefly for the dozenth time.
My last concert 8 years ago was with this band. I went to see the female vocalist Lisa Guyer the same summer. at a local Pub. Loved her show and her voice.
I'd like to see Elizabeth analyze the duets with Guyer and Sully. Maybe Hollow or 7 Years. The instruments really bring it all together.
Lisa Guyer was in Avalon with Sully.
@@haroldmurrayDFW
Yes. Avalon was the album. Sullys solo works.
@@class5bodyworks I always gets Serenity and Hollow mixed up.
@@christopherbritton1840
Both great tunes! I'm trying to keep them all straight myself. There is such a vast library. Pick a song for your mood.
I love your reactions. I would love your opinion on Let The Truth Speak by Earthside ft Daniel Tompkins and Gennady Tkachenko-Papizh... you won't miss the strings 😉
I love how excited you get listening to these amazing songs! I can relate so much so it's awesome to share it! Love your channel!
I love you, Elizabeth! Thank you for being the best vocal coach on youtube. ❤🧡💛❤🧡💛
Sully Erna - 7 years
Basically a solo project with a bunch of people who are really good at their craft. Only live version btw
I saw Godsmack do a full acoustic set years ago and it was fuckin amazing
Unforgettable is song and video by them that you MUST see
Thanks for doing a Godsmack video. They are one of my favorites and this is an amazing song. Voodoo is one of my favorite songs too.
I recommend checking out Testament for the first time and Return To Serenity would be a good introduction. I would say it was their most radio play song. But they have many others that are great as well.
One of the BEST guitar solos ever written, is in that song!
Firefly, I remember that. What a classic tv show.
This one is gold! Brings me so much nostalgia. It's one of those songs I used to listen to/sing along to with my eyes closed... Now I can appreciate it even more ❤
Best live show you'll ever witness. Seen them 8 times and have never disappointed.
If you want to do a fantastic ballad from a metal band you have not done before, check out Return to Serenity (full song) by Testament.
I upvote this...also "trail of tears"
Not a big Testament fan, but that is a great song.
Or The Ritual from the same album. Not really a ballad, but it has a really disturbing dark feel to it.
"LOW" is my favorite Testament album.
Eerie inhabitants is my fav testament song from my fav album
Always been one of my favorite songs!
I absolutely love your reactions to awesome songs and awesome bands!!
This song is incredible and gives me shivers every time I hear it! Their live performances are excellent, have never been disappointed.
“Serenity now…..insanity later”. Long live Frank Costanza!!!!
This reaction video was simply sublime. Comforting, informative, interesting, and chilling. Thank you. I think you would also enjoy Godsmack - Shinedown. :)
I love them! So good live - I’ve seen them 7 times and have tix to my 8th show in May. ❤ they really care about their fans. It’s refreshing.
I might have been at this concert at Red Rocks. Seen them there a couple of times. Love me some Godsmack...seeing them next month in Denver. Can't wait!!!!!!!!!
I suggest Sully Erna's solo work for more music like this. Incredible. 7 Years is a great song.
The whole avalon album is a masterpiece
Really need to explore his solo project, Avalon!
I am so happy to see some Godsmack. I have been requesting them for a few years.. cheers.
I absolutely LOVE this song! Serenity is one of my favorites to sing along with and just slow jam too. Such a VIBE. Great choice.
Sully has a great Solo album called AVALON, you'd love it Elizabeth
Have to totally agree, 7 years, Until then, and My light and how can you not love a Cello solo!!!
I love when you “nerd out” to music. This is one of my favorite Godsmack songs and if I ever get a daughter I want to name her Serenity
This song is absolutely amazing. His voice is incredible.
Just saw Godsmack 3 weeks ago. What a band. Still hoping for "under my scars" among others.
I named my Camaro Serenity because of this song. It’s the place where I like to hide.
Since you are a music teacher, you would REALLY love Unforgettable! ❤❤❤🤘🏼🤘🏼
It pleases me greatly that you react to more Godsmack, I grew up on them and Serenity was one of my favourites. I had this on constant loop on my cd player walkman haha
Dear Elizabeth - you’ve already reviewed some top Canadian acts such as Rush, Gordon Lightfoot and Neil Young. How about some more Canadian Gold?
Suggestions:
Chilliwack - Fly at Night - just a beautiful, beautiful song.
Triumph - Magic Power - high energy, fun song, similar lyrical theme as Spirit of Radio.
April Wine - Oowatanite - high energy love song by a very young April Wine, don't be "alarmed" by the opening.
The Guess Who - These Eyes - pretty ballad, charted in the US.
Ian Thomas - 2 songs; 1. Coming Home - song about the joy of returning home after a long tour, Ian singing in his higher ranges. 2. Long, Long Way, mostly fun song with lots of "phase" changes.
Max Webster - 3 songs. 1. A Million Vacations - fun song with lots of interesting sounds, bit of an ear bug. 2. Diamonds, Diamonds - pretty song, also interesting sounds. 3. Battle Scar - collaboration with Rush - the grittiest, grungiest, dirtiest-sounding rock song that you can imagine.
All of them worth a listen, maybe even a deep dive? Only 9 songs, not too much to ask, yes?
In all seriousness, thank you for being you - really enjoy your content, your spirit and your deep technical knowledge.
You forgot The Tragically Hip! Arguably one of the best Canadian bands to rock this country
QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE
With Dave Grohl on drums, hehehe
Truth- Godsmack is a beautiful new song they just put out. Ive been obsessed
I'm really liking the whole new album. You and I is a great jam! Lighting up the Sky
Another powerful Godsmack song is Love-Hate-Sex-Pain. You won't be disappointed.
Once again, she has full body eargasms. 😂
YES!!! been waiting for you to get to this one! This song has taken me through some hard times. There's just something calming about sully's voice in this song.
I love rediscovering music that I've heard when I was younger but since forgotten. Thanks!
THE CULT !
Ahh yes! That's a different request. I'm on board
Would love Rain with Elizabeth blushing.

That's one my favorites too
Absolutely love this song, and now you've basically put words to why I like it so much!! If I may make a suggestion for a future video... "Sevendust - I Might Let The Devil Win". That song gave me the same kind of chills as Serenity did many years ago.
this is my most favorite song and i was hoping i would see a reaction video for it show up. so glad you loved the song too
I'm glad you gave this a shot. I knew you wouldn't be disappointed.

Under your scars and unforgettable can't wait to see your reaction and analysis!
I'm glad you enjoyed this Elizabeth Ive loved Godsmack since their first album😁
I love when you react to Godsmack songs you always say how much you like the primal drumming and instruments. If you talk to Sully he will absolutely give credit to his favorite band Dead Can Dance for the inspiration in that primal feel to Godsmack songs.
