    Michael Mittermeier is one of the most successful comedians in Germany and is more popular than ever. He goes on tour and makes many TV appearances. "Blackout" was his 2016 program in London, so it's older. Humor is a matter of taste. Some people like it, others don't and that's completely ok. If you don't like it, don't watch it. So easy.

    • @speku87
      @speku87 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The last german comedy price he won was in 2008. For the last 15years he disappeared from TV and Radioshows in Germany. Next time you can see him on TV is on 01.06.2024 with a repetition of his appearance from "Quatsch Comedy Club Season 5 of the year 2000 ... thats 24 years ago". Not sure why you think hes "more popular than ever" ?

      So wherever you got your information from, you might want to read more carefully. He IS one of the most successful German comedians and he is more present than ever. I'm not sure why you think he's not as popular as ever.

      @@Una_one The "German Cabaret Prize" you mention is a local archievement given from a local nürnberg theatre. I have won a local drawing contest 10 years ago, this doesnt make me a good artist ^^. Plus he didnt win the price, 2021 Horst Evers won. Its just a sidecategory win from a local theatre.
      2022 German Comedy Price went to Carolin Kebekus. He just won a "Special Price" that was given to him via Quatsch Comedy Club. He wasnt even there or mentioned while the main event and the main prices were given.
      Edit: 2015. Yes, thats a real price. But thats also almost 10 years ago so i feel that this only supports my opinion
      So, in a way you are right. But in another way hes just insignificant for german comedy in the last 15 years.

    • @Una_one
      @Una_one 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@speku87 Ok specu87 what exactly is your problem? A price is a price. A cabaret prize is not a student competition. However, he can be seen often, whether on stage or on TV, and that makes him very present for me. You don't like him, that's okay. I like him and listen and be amazed, that's ok too. We don't have to agree and if I think he's one of the best comedians, then that's my right. If you think differently about it, that's your right. No reason to argue about it. Relax a little.

      It is hard to not feel guilty if this is the most stuff you learn about german history. Some people don‘t care so much, they need more pressure to learn what‘s important. Others are more empathic, these go through different emotions of guilt and shame while listening about what Germans did in the world wars. That is no reason to avoid the topic, but to maybe adjust the lessons a bit. (But I think it is already taught differently today compared to the time when Mittermayer went to school)

    Well, humor is very local and needs a lot of local knowledge. If you don't know the politics and the way of thinking, it can be difficult to laugh on someones jokes...
    And there is a difference in local humor and comedy, as the latter has to apply to a wider area.
    So jokes from one county, or federal state might not work in a neighboring one, or might well be an offence.
    This is where comedy steps in. - Michael Mittermeier is one od the best german ones.
    And because of differeces in the same language - german - even alters his performances for neighboring Austria! There the language is closer to the bavarian type of german.
    Before WW2, there were a lot of comedians, very often jewish, here in Austria, who had performances similar to standup comedy. And one author mentioned refering to the differences in the german language, between Austria and germany, that "ther is nothing that divides us more, than our common language".
    In Austria we jokingly say, that we can accept bavarians, but the rest of germany has no humor...
    Which of corse isn't true, but as the once large monarchy that Austria had been and how small we became after WW1, this is a kind of revenge foul on the germans...
    In Austria, especially in the eastern region and the capital Vienna, we are proud of our so called "Schmäh" (pronounce: shma) which is a type of humor which spans from charming little lies, to a good portion of sarcasm, a mixture of jewish humor and nit taking things too earnest, to rather uneasy lying in case of emergency or fraud...!
    An Austrian Pomitician once got a prize by bavarian cabarets, when he said: " If i want to make holidays away from Austria, i like to go to Bavaria, there i am abroad, they can understand me, but i am still not in Germany!"
    The Bavarians would say, the rest of Germany is Prussia...
    And according to the special relation beween Austria and Germany, an Austrian musician once said: " In Germany exists a great book on humor! - It has two pages..."
    Which again is this kind of underdog humor and not true at all. - And as i mentioned at the beginning, there is a difference in local humor and comedy. So many Austrians cannot stand german humor, which sets in, when they are more than three...😂 - an underdog joke again!
    Some guys here mentioned "Bully" Herbig and other terriffic comedians, but Mittermaier is the only one joking in english to my knowledge.
    Very good ones are: Karolin Kebekus from cologne, Monika Gruber from Bavaria, Josef Hader, Thomas Maurer, both from Austria

    We lost two world wars, we need a good sense of humour 😅 and we learned how to state the obvious problems in the world in a way that it's not depressing.

    German humor is usually pretty dark, people say the british like bloody dark humor but a lot of brits reacting to german comedy and kabarett go "woahh....thats dark" german jokes often involve children, death or sex. usually in combination. of at least 2 of those genres.
    "Alle Kinder" is a series of jokes about children being killed or already dead and are very popular in germany. I think i cant even write an example as i might get banned for it

      Well, the romans did like all imperialist f**ks and just lumped 'em all together. Happened to the Gaul, happened to the Goths, happened to the Germans.
      And the 'ger' was the then-word for 'spear', they were the ger-mannae, the spear-men.
