Here are my takeaways - 1. One of the best ways to teach grammar is in the context of writing and using it. Students learn more grammar by doing writing exercises like dress-ups and sentence openers than from years of grammar workbooks out of context. 2. Another ideal way to teach grammar is by Immersing students in quality language through being read aloud to extensively, memorizing poetry/scripture, and constant exposure to elevated language. 3. One way to avoid teaching grammar is using the out-of-context worksheet/workbook approach of just identifying and labeling grammar terms without any application or context. That's why I like Fix It! Grammar so much.
