    Note that Sharp Quills is also a weakness to Repulsive. It bypasses the sigil, and can easily kill Ijiraq with its single health. This also cancels any overkill damage if the first card it attacks has Sharp Quills.

    *Common cards:*
    Cuckoo *8/10:* Very good, versatile sigils, one of the best new cards for sigil fodder for another card that needs time to set up or is a glass cannon (i.e. Strange Larva or Mantis God). Cuckoo itself isn't very good without campfire buffs to its attack, and not a good sacrifice for a card with a movement sigil like Elk or Moose buck.
    Dire wolf *4/10:* Rather difficult to play with its 3 blood, has high HP and low attack while its sigil works much better with the exact opposite statline. With high enough damage, its sigil can kill the opposing card _and_ deal that 5 (or 6) direct damage you need to win, but its much better as sigil fodder.
    Dire wolf pup *7/10:* Better version of Dire wolf, only costs 2 blood and gives you one extra bone for your troubles. Pick this up if you actually want to play dire wolf, pick up dire wolf if you want something else to have its sigil. Unfortunately, it will lose the gravedigger sigil after one turn, but if you sacrifice it, the resulting card will _not_ lose that sigil.
    Flying ant *6/10:* Just a solid card all around. The game needed more options for ants, plain and simple. Its health, while low, can obviously be worked around. Being an ant, however, its use is rather niche.
    Lammergeier *7/10:* Obviously meant for _good_ bone decks (harder to play in bad bone decks), combos well with transferring gravedigger sigil to another card. Its 3 cost is very steep, but running a good bone deck almost always uses cockroach, corpse maggots, or both, so its not too hard to play. You don't even need that many bone tokens to win a battle thanks to its flying sigil. Probably my top pick for 3-costs as it stands.
    Mealworm *9/10:* My personal favorite of the new cards. In my experience, better to keep its sigil since its played with very few bones, but if you have cards with variable attack power, a morsel sigil will use the power at the time of sacrifice. Works beautifully with sigils like fecundity, unkillable, or worthy sacrifice. Should often take your campfire buff since you can give that buff to practically any other card.
    Mud turtle *6/10:* I personally haven't used this card very often, but its sigil is a welcome addition to Leshy's version of the game. A good addition to a very decent tribe, that being reptiles. Its raw stats are not usually good enough for me to justify two sacrifices to play it (only two wolves get you five damage, but three mud turtles are needed), and its sigil can see better use on other cards.
    Raccoon *5/10:* To preface, I don't think I've ever once used this card. Its sigil is very good for bone decks, obviously, but if its the card you're using to get you those bones, it costing bones appears somewhat counter-intuitive, and its 1 damage means you can't safely put it in front of an enemy 1-hp to just sit there and generate bones for you. As far as I know, it's sigil fodder, best put on something that _does_ sit and support you, like a many lives card.
    Red hart *6/10:* Very unique card, deals damage from how many sacrifices you make in a turn. Very good for combo decks with a fecundity 1-cost, as it can get up to theoretically infinite damage. The sprinter sigil is the worst in the game in my opinion, taking your cards out of good positions, and with 2 health it will likely die in those bad positions. Good if you can secure the win quickly after playing it. An alright addition to a pretty bad tribe.
    Tadpole *7/10:* Very versatile, but not the best pick in any role. A 0-cost card existing that isn't a squirrel is pretty cool, but with the aquatic sigil, it can't be used as a chump blocker. A cheap alternative to a bullfrog, allowing you to basically get 3 sacrifices in 2 turns once it grows up. Can also be used as a second squirrel if needed.
    Wild bull *6/10:* A wolf's statline with the same cost, it can be seen as a direct upgrade. The difference between this and the other two movement sigils is that this one will always move regardless of how full your board is, which is better than either two. Unfortunately, being a movement sigil, I simply never pick it. Would probably be best given bifurcated or trifurcated, as its movement will always let it hit all four spots on the board within two turns.
    Wolverine *3/10:* The worst new card here, personally. 5 bones is a steep price for a card that has to kill another card to up its measly 1 damage, especially if you aren't running a bones deck. An Alpha wolf is almost always a better pick, with that similar one damage, buff the attack of other cards (the important part is that _any_ card is buffed). 3 health is a good milestone, since it allows it to take the hit from a coyote and kill it next turn, but that's pretty much its only use. Give its sigil to something that gets much more use from one point of damage like Mantis God, or even Mantis.
    *Rare cards:*
    Mole man? (Ijiraq) *8/10:* Without a doubt the most unusual card put into the game. Arguably even stranger than the glitched card, which literally just becomes any card when you draw it. The repulsive sigil is obviously an incredible boon to any card, but unfortunately this card cannot be sacrificed to put it on anything else. Works best in a deck with very low cost cards, but still works well enough for a medium-cost deck, or a deck with the Hoarder sigil. The latter will allow you to scan your whole deck, and if there are any duplicates you're certain you don't have, it's a disguised Ijiraq. The best aspect of this card is that some sigils activate before it transforms, and any sigil given to the disguise via totem, any attack boost such as ants, will carry over and add to Ijiraq. The only truly bad outcome for this card is simply for it to disguise into a 3-cost, which can possibly be worse than what you were expecting to play. It may be a good idea to buff its health at least once to combat the occasional sharp quills sigil.
    Pelt lice *7/10:* I've personally never been able to really use this card simply because its a rare and its unlocked so late in the challenge levels, but it appears to be extremely niche, more than most rares in the game. However, for the player with a surplus of pelts and no way to easily trade them, this card can be a lifesaver. No longer do you get nothing to sacrifice with after drawing a pelt, you now get a completely free 1/1. Give it a few campfire buffs and you can win with just one of any pelt in your starting hand. The only thing holding it back is not having a sigil, which is fair, and being a whopping 4 blood to play normally, which is honestly a bit unnecessary. It's also a bug, which is easily the best tribe in the game, synergizing with _two_ of the four starter decks currently available.

      One note about Pelt lice is that you can fill a decent amount of your inventory with pelts, and that ALL of them are free, and when played give you a card which you can buff, which is like the geck's power, but you don't need to find it in your deck.

    Whats also fun is that most of the new cards within the kins build on themes kn that kin. After all animals of the same species share theming (Mole and Moleman are digging defenders, Mantis and Mantis God have split attacks, all the elks move) They also build on design space left open.
    For insect kin flying ant is obvious, the ant theming. The other themes insect has is Mantis (nothing new but its wel enough explored) and getting fodder. Think Cockroach and Corpse Maggot. Mealworm builds on that by being a tribute that empowers the beast brought out. Pelt Lice builds on this theme a little coming from the deck and does something with pelts, but is clearly over all a joke. This kin I would call the best because the strong tribute engines, the split strikes and the ants. That and the Prospectors Game.
    Canine Kin (the proper name of the “Wolf Kin”) had a minor bone thing with Coyote (but stretching a little) and with Wolf Cub and Wolf theme of a decent card becoming great by fledgling into it. So the Dire Wolf Cub can fledgeling into the Dire Wolf. Also fits the Canine Kin’s general leaning towards combat.
    Hooved Kin are mostly about movement. Save for two cards. Child 13 and Black Goat. What do they have in common? Tributing. So the Red Hart plays on that, has this kins movement theming, and makes use of having tributes matter as a design space. Wild Bull is simpeler; we had a sigil that moved, a sigil that pushed, and now a sigil that will move no matter whats in its way.
    Bird (winged?) kin got Cuckoo and Lammergeier. Cuckoo builded expanded on the theming of the raven egg, both being based around a cracked egg and sometimes spawning it. The Lammergeier builds on the theme for Vultures build by the Turkey Vulture, mainly bones matter. In this case its empowered by them, building on the design space of doing something with bones past summoning. It and Dire Wolf also makes three tribute more interesting. Granted, you still rather fledgeling into Dire Wolf and Moose Buck (but Fledgeling on an Elk).
    Reptile Kin is about walls, both building them (turtles) and breaking them (snakes). Also Geck is there.
    Turtles defend, Snapper by being big and the new Mud Turtle with its Sigil. I guess Tadpole like Geck is cheap. That and I think it means now all kins have a creature with Fledgeling now (even if for Insect its a rare).
    This selection is really really solid over all. Now remember people, all these new sigils can appear on totems, both your own and Leshy’s. Enjoy Leshy getting double strike on a Canine or Hooved encounter and totally murdering you.

      Let me elaborate in layman's terms:
      Insects are all about amassing powerful armies quickly and serving as fodder for other units, Canines are all about punishing those who leave them unattended, Hooved Cards are all about unpredictability and being fodder for more consistent units, Avains are all about bypassing enemy defenses by blocking further fortification or just straight up ignoring it, and Reptiles/Amphibians are all about holding the line until you can get more damaging units out.

    A strange thing happened to me with the scrying sigil and the ijiraq. I had buffed all my insects with a totem to give them all the scrying sigil, and every time I picked a disguised card in my deck with the sigil it duplicated the card. The result was an infinite amount of ants being drawn from my deck. It might be a glitch surrounding the ijiraq and the sigil worth looking into.

    I like the Red Heart because it's pretty easy (depending your luck) to set up an infinite engine in this game. It being a common card apart of the same kin as Black Goat makes it easy to find and sets up an easy to make one shot engine that uses just The Elk totem with infinite or the field mice sigils.
    Not to mention it accomodates other strategies like bone spam and Ouroboros as an extra option to go into if you don't pull the right cards. This is a decent buff to the Cloven kin which was being hard carried by only the Black Goat before.

      If you've got an infinite there are lots of ways to win, often without any other cards at all. A card that is only good once you've basically already won is not a very good card. Better to play a card which isn't useless in the not-already-winning case.

    With regards to Ijiraq, I don't particularly like the card. It's a very difficult card to play around, since it can mimic anything in your main deck, it doesn't interact with any nodes (with a few exceptions), and it doesn't interact with any totems. Its cost to play is whatever card it is mimicking, which is always random (so it could cost 8 bones or 4 sacrifices), and except for the sigils that trigger in-hand (Corpse Eater) or on-play (Fecundity gives you a copy of the mimicked card, not Ijiraq, FYI), Ijiraq will generally not carry over any other sigils after it flips over.
    Ijiraq doesn't interact with campfires, even if you spot the fake in your deck (the mimicked card receives the buffs), and it doesn't interact with Soul Sacrifice (neither giving nor receiving sigils), meaning that Repulsive is exclusive to Ijiraq.
    The upside, of course, is that it essentially shuts down a single lane by itself once it's played (unless they have Sharp Quills) and does very good damage. There are a couple of ways to pick it out of a crowd, though. It depends entirely on your playstyle and what your deck looks like, but I'm not personally a fan.

    • @pogowitwiz
      @pogowitwiz 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It's also worth noting three things: First that Ijiraq *can* be mushroom combined with another, but actually playing the card will not retain the combined bonuses to stats. Second, it can Mimic *another Ijiraq* in your deck (and then do the transform animation anyway). Third, if it's the last card in your deck it will always be a Squirrel.

    Don't get why isn't there a some kind of kinship for the Raccoons, Rats, Stoats, Squirrels, Rabbits and alikes. Yeah they are not related in real life, but for the sake of the game mechanics, I think it would be a good buff for them. "Vermin" kinship maybe?

    Brood parasite could be good for trying to intentionally get overkill and get something removed that could be a real problem (Mantis God, adder, etc), an attack buffed wolf cub could easily be a good card if you can get the sigil without flight

    Reptile is a pretty good kin, but personally, I'd have to say that Insect is the best. the reason: if you can get an insect/fecundity totem, or even just Corpse Maggots with Fecundity, and then you get Corpse Maggots down, the game pretty much plays itself the longer the battles get.

  • @bronzetrophy2171
    @bronzetrophy2171 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The cuckoo's sigil is best used for flyers, but can still be useful for ground attackers in that you can deal overkill damage to the back row.

  • @Petrico94

    Been having fun with the second starter deck with an included goat and bull moose, maybe after I unlock tadpole I'll try a dedicated reptile deck that tries to draw out from the main deck. I like how it tries out new attack types that aren't always great but can be transferred to something better.
    Ijiraq is probably the most interesting rare card added, I would like to use it more but it needs a deck of all low cost creatures where a 4/1 is preferred. Again I try to play up to a quick 3/7 so it's bad when my goat gets replaced with another monster randomly.
    I don't know how much development this expansion will get but I'd like to see an Elder Porcupine monster, either a buff to if it gets Fledgling or just another spikey option. MtG as old as it tends to come up with almost every combination of attack type and mana cost so it'd be fun to see more of that developed or some hints of the existence of Grimora's version of the game.

    I think that they should add a lynx which could be just a weak card but maybe has a sigil that gives it more power in the snowy forest map thingy. I also think they should have a fox, but I don’t know what it would do, and a fisher cat. If you don’t know what a fisher cat is, it neither fishes or is a cat but they are smallish kind of like wolverines but way less dangerous and they scream really loud. That card could have a loud sigil or something but I don’t know what it would do.

    • @empathymodule
      @empathymodule 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fisher cats are mustelids, like wolverines, weasels, stoats, etc.
      The 'loud' sigil could be Annoying from Act 3 (which increases the power of the enemy card across from it by 1), but the fisher cat would need something else to compensate for that downside

      And after one turn it becomes an unstoppable nightmare 4/5 that deals its damage in two separate bursts, which both allows it to attack directly if a fragile enough card is blocking it, and means it scales twice as fast with attack boosts, like from Campfires, the Alpha sigil, or the Morsel sigil.
      Only being a 2-cost 1/1 on its first turn is an intentional weakness to make up for becoming one of the strongest cards in the game almost instantly for only 2 blood.

      If your talking about the static aparence card,yes it becomes a random card in battle and off battle its nothing;
      If your talking about the mimic card from the kaycee'smod,it mimics of battle and in battle 1 random card from de cards in your deck,but it can't be used in events of battle(campfires,sacrifices,etc) and in battle its cost will be the card it mimics and you will have no ideia its him until you play it
