I was put off by this soundtrack the first time that I heard it as well. When it comes to hardcore dance music at the time, they were really nailing tamber and repetition. When it comes to Jake Kaufman's music, he seems to struggle with tamber but is an absolute master of composition. I think that the mixing made for a 3Ds with less dynamic frequency range combined with the fact that the songs in this OST have a jazzy, free-flowing nature about them doesn't necessarily rope the listener in like a mainstream dance track would. Where Jake Kaufman excels magnificently here is in his composition. Most dance tracks around this time were focusing on tamber, interesting drum loops, and experimenting with the low end of the songs. Jake Kaufman here decides to flip that formula on its head by focusing on much more complex runs and melodies. Some of these parts almost sound like jazz music. The transitions are awesome and smooth. The variation keeps the listener engaged after multiple listenings where most dance tracks would stuggle to due to their form. Even with the focus on the high-end of the frequency range, he manages to keep the songs sounding relatively clean due to interesting, dynamic patterns that also add a great flavor to the soundtrack (and urge you to dance). In fact, he leaves enough room in the tracks that I can't hardly help but to hum along with them. Even with all of the great dance music around today, I still return to this OST and I finally had to figure out why.
@@MasterJoJYTP not trying to be a jerk and correct you, I mean, you probably spell it like that because you've mostly heard the word out loud... but it's "timbre" or alternate spelling "timber." French words play even less fair than English ones. :) This is my favorite track too, from both OSTs.
My favorite part [now] is 2:44, when the bass drops out. It dynamically changes the whole groove of the song from catchy and bouncy to something lighter, with this almost space-like groove--almost like the song itself launched into space. Oh it's so good.
I swear the Mighty switch force games are some of the best pieces of art the human race has ever produced. And this is definitely one of the best songs of the soundtrack. I've been listening to this song( along with caught red-handed) since the game out in 2013 and it has affected the way I see things in life. It's hard to put into words, but when listening to these songs, it makes me feel as if there's more to life than what I immediately see. Like there's so much stuff out there for me to experience. I suppose it's the overall tone of the songs. T It might be odd to think a song with no words can change one's view on living but that's honestly how this song me feel.
My greatest flaw when it comes to music is that I'm very reliant on the hook to get my attention on a song. If I'm not hooked within the first 10-15 seconds I want to move on. With this in mind, I always overlooked this track as the hook never really snagged me. Once I finally got to the chorus, my heart fluttered. I'm so mad I overlooked this song because it bangs so dang hard in such a bouncy yet groovy feel-good way. This may have become my all time favorite Jake Kaufman track.
I must admit I spent wisely that spare money I got for the Wii U version... I'll never forget this track and the game was outstanding like it, I hope this gets a port for PC in Steam as well. EDIT: IT'S ON STEAM NOW WOOOOOOOOOO
I feel pity for the me before discovering this, as well as for the amount of people that haven't watched this, making this with just 100k views. They're losing on life.
Jake Kaufman's tracks make me excited about life
The mark of a good song is when it randomly pops into your head after years of hearing it.
*Exactly*
Wise words, man.
Yesss
I have no idea why I didn't like this song at first, because holy shit it grew on me and now it's my fucking jam

@@johannhowitzer Whoops! Thanks for the correction!
Exothermic was my least favorite but it grew on me, same with rainbow love zone.

Great insight
Dalmatian Station has a "feel good" and uplifting style that can't be matched.

Man, the energy from this track is amazing! I can just imagine a legion of police hounds walking in tune to the beat.
+Arthur Britton Noted. Actual Dalmatians, then.
2:45 is just beautiful. VIRT. HOW DO YOU DO THESE THINGS THAT YOU DO!?

2:00 is literally a jazz improv progression, jfc virt
Jake Kaufman, WayForward, these guys get me.
How is Virt so fucking good
we must cryo-conservate his brain until we can attach it to a drone for ever.
***** this is torture
Sigmünd SiGmeister lol
School, brain storm.
This so funky. I freakin love it.
This and The Afterblaze took longer to grow on me than the other tracks. Now I can't help but move to the beat whenever I hear either of them.
this is beyond amazing
I didn't really like this one at first either, it took until I heard it in the game to really appreciate it.
It takes until 0:33 for the song to really get its groove. Makes sense in the context of beginning a puzzle, but "tinny-sounding" on its own.
omg 2:40 literally got chills
If i could make sweet love to a soundtrack it'd be this one
