    I produce electronic music, I work with synths...and samples...and I've learned more from this channel than channels that focus on electronic music. Joe, thank you for these videos! My mixing game has improved so much!

    Thoroughly enjoyed this tutorial.
    The one thing I find important when using any effect I pre/post fader. I use pre fader most the time. It keeps the relationship between dry track and effect in tact. That’s what works for me personally. Great job Joe your a great artist, engineer, and teacher.

    I'm an above average user, in my opinion, but I never thought about changing a mono track to stereo to have stereo effects on it. Great tip! Not that I use a lot of stereo effects, but still good to know!

    I have a doubt on the second method. why or what for should i use fader? the main fader on the fx channel, since we are only using the little fader on the "send"

  • @AndreasR86
    @AndreasR86 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    You could also play the sound from your monitors and record it somewhere in (or even outside) the room. Is it practical? No. If you really wanted your room tone as reverb would it be way easier to just make an IR? Yes.
    But you could do it.
    Boom. 4 methods

    The problem i have is that if i add a reverb as a send effect on a bus, because the output of the send is going to the main output, if you change the volume of the bus channel, it doesn't have an effect on the level of the reverb send... is there anything people are doing to get around this or do you just put the reverb as an insert on each bus?

    • @chaddonal4331
      @chaddonal4331 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could try assigning your effects Post-Fader, so the fader movements are taken into account.

    • @holygeneration7
      @holygeneration7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, experiment with pre/post sends.

  • @jspacone
    @jspacone 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Is there a way to tie the amount of the reverb to the volume of the original signal? Like if the vocalist is singing quietly, there’s only a little bit of reverb, but if singing loudly, there’s more? And I mean a way that’s actually automatic, without having to write an automation track.

    • @presonus
      @presonus  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s kind of automatic just by nature of how the audio works. When the singer sings quietly, there is naturally less volume. So there would be less signal going to the Reverb

    • @AndreasR86
      @AndreasR86 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Other than the answer already given, if you want the louder parts to have more more reverb you could probably use an expander on the reverb and sidechain the vocal into that.

    @5:17 What is that negative 150 on the pre knob? Can you please explain the negative numbers

    • @presonus
      @presonus  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah, it’s a little confusing. If you think of it like an impulse response, if you use a positive number, there is a pause before the reverb starts to happen. If you use a negative number you are starting the reverb later in the impulse response rather than at the beginning.
