I worked in a high-end cabinet shop for most of my life. I don't know how many times I whined about re-sawing boards on a bandsaw with a power feeder. You sir, have a ton of skill.
If that was me trying to cut those boards, I'd constantly cut the rope, my boards would vary between about 1/8 and 3 inches... glad you have a better eye for accuracy!
It's easier than you'd think. After a bit of practice I think anyone would be able to get similar results. I do appreciate the kind words. Thanks for watching!
You're an excellent free hand miller! Great job! Those ribbon-like shavings will make really nice fire tinder. Great by themselves, or put them in a coffee can with a little diesel fuel. No fail fire starter. Enjoy your weekend, Brother.
I generally cut the log in half to get rid of the heart, then trim the sides. Chalk line shows up good on the cut. Then stand the cant up and cut my boards. If you want a smooth straight cut, quickly, try a chain sharpened at 0 deg with no rackers. Smooth as if gone through a planer and shavings couple inches long. Without an angle on the teeth the bar will just follow the cut and you will not use extra gas and time cutting the groves as the angle, even 5 or 10 deg will pull the chain left and right as it grabs. You can use a full chisel.
Right on getting it done 👍 and for the 4wheeler i would check the carburetor for dirt ive had similar problems and when i would give it more gas to get out of a hole or something it would stall and then when it sat for a bit the dirt would settle in the bottom of the bole.
Saturday morning in Oxfordshire - strong coffee and a new Kusk video - what a way to start the weekend! Great skill with those boards, you can see how you have mastered that over the months. Youe camera work is super too - I can see the work involved in setting up the shots and editing....thanks!
Here in OZ all I have on my property is Ironbark and Sotted Gum, both weigh-in at 1200kgs a cubic meter. Pine weighs in at about 500kgs. I don't try to cut them dry as the timber is too hard, and you can get sparks coming off the chain. It makes me a tad envious to see you cutting the logs like they were butter.
Not bad at all! I was thinking about making some 4" bridge timbers with my Stihl, but was worried it might be tough to go that thin. But 3/4? That is crazy. You have a steady hand with that saw, and came out with some quality boards. The wood shack will be deluxe with those planks!
You make this look easy. I've cut a few square timbers this way and my surfaces never got that smooth. I ended up friggin up a guide to use with those saw mill attachment gadgets and I cna make pretty descent boards that way.
Finally someone using their head and using a peevy to handle logs. Some people where I come from, call it a canthook . But I got to say I was impressed with the straightness of his sawing. I thought I was good ( which I am 😁) but he is just as good. Very good.😁😁
Great idea brother! It doesn’t need to be perfect in the Forrest! I think it will give character to whatever you’re building without a mill! Make 4x4’s or 6x6 for the rest and scraps for fire wood! If you have to cut them up for firewood down the road so be it!
Nice job, friend ! I love to do freehand chainsaw milling too ;) Only thing I may suggest, is you can use chalkline to mark a straight line and not bother about cutting along the rope. But what works for you is good for you !! Have a great day
Excellence on display again bro. You've a steady hand and a sharp eye there, not to mention some needed stamina. Will be great to see the finished shed, you've put a lot of work into it. Like all Kusk Wild videos, this was a good one, thanks for the work. Stay safe out there.
Amazing precision. I am watching your latest video short after midnight here in southern Germany.... when I already wanted to hit the bed. First youtube video at my 58th birthday. I'll try to stays wild😉
That was excellent. I feel your pain. Everytime I do a project, there is something unexpected that needs fixed. Great boards, though. I'm eager to see how you use them.
this video was really impressive and the technique you used is super innovative! however, i wonder if cutting such long boards with a chainsaw might not be the best option for everyone. seems like it could lead to a lot of wasted material if not done carefully. what do you all think?
Hey man your doing awesome job cutting the boards Dunno if you have seen the piece goes on your chain bar with a guide on how big cut your boards I have one for cutting squares I probably speed up your process quit a bit Only like 50 bucks I forget the name right now
First one I see doing the forward technic, thats the major way here in Brazil. If you want a better finish you need sharp the chain at 0 degrees, it cuts faster, dont heat, follow the line and dont let marks on the board. Use a ink line to trace, White our Blue water based ink. That wood cuts so much faster, seems butter, the engine is totally free
Honda put a compression release on the camshsft ,& i had trouble with that, instead of them putting a bigger starter. ,they put that damb camshaft compression release, you have to tear the whole top end off to fix it ,bummer !!!!!!
i encounter many engine failure for no reason in middle of woods working, and never have issue when drive around home, i guess middle of woods have many negatif energy or somesort of unseen being

@@KuskWild I can understand if the cuts were vertical but you're still getting them straight while cutting at an angle.
Same, I can see myself wasting a tree or two on absolutely crap boards at first 😂
I first used an alaska sawmill rig it is burdensome. Now I cut freehand and gravity helps.
Very true, you have to be pretty darn good with a chain saw.
You, my friend are a master with that chainsaw. Unbelievable.
I've never seen anyone freehand boards that accurately! Holy cow that is something to see. You may have some water in your gas from condensation.
Thanks for taking us along, after watching your videos on free handing the chainsaw milling I will be attempting it at my own trap cabin soon.
Best of luck! Thanks for watching.
Thanks for sharing a great day of work with us!
Thank you for watching!
Awesome job Ryley, you did a fantastic job
Thanks! We just have to get er full of wood now.
You're an excellent free hand miller! Great job! Those ribbon-like shavings will make really nice fire tinder. Great by themselves, or put them in a coffee can with a little diesel fuel. No fail fire starter. Enjoy your weekend, Brother.
Thanks for the tip!!
After 40 years handling chainsaws today i learned a new trick... Thanks for showing son...
Incredible work.
I like your channel. It’s about getting the job done with the tools at hand. Great job!

Thanks for the advice! I'm eager to try a ripping chain. Take care!
Cool video, nice to see you using downed wood and making good use of it!
You does a good job cutting out lumber with just a chainsaw. Just as good as a mill.
To be able to eyeball a straight cut over 12 feet like that shows both MAD skills and a well tuned saw. I friggin wish I could mill like that!
I was thinking what I would do With all the little pieces of rope, good job😊
Right on getting it done 👍 and for the 4wheeler i would check the carburetor for dirt ive had similar problems and when i would give it more gas to get out of a hole or something it would stall and then when it sat for a bit the dirt would settle in the bottom of the bole.
Thanks for the advice! I'll be sure to check the carb.
Very impressive. Handmilling long, 3/4" boards by hand with a cross cut chain. And, yeah, as someone else said, that's why you want a peavy.
That was soothing to watch! You have a great touch with that saw!
Nice Job ; You have the skills and patience for that .
Very impressive my friend😎
Thank you for tuning in!
Impressive alternative to much more complicated milling!
Very nice work. Looking forward to watch you complete the shack.
I appreciate you sharing your talent here. No way I’d be able to achieve that consistency.
Glad you managed to cut the the boards, under the circumstances. Cheers, and God Bless!✌️🇨🇦
God Bless you and all your family. Amen
Thanks! God bless you and yours as well my friend.
Nice job,I tried free hand sawmilling and was surprised at how good it works with a little practice,I enjoyed your vid
very impressive skills and an amazing saw
Once again. I love doing that kind of work
my father was a faller, you are great with that saw.
I'm impressed!
Excellent!
I need to start cutting very hard Bushveld logs and you have inspired us.
I'll give a try ....
I've tried this. He makes it look easy.
Absolutely love your videos Riley, great job on the wood shed

You have GREAT skill my friend.
Who needs a sawmill? 👏👏👏 Great job!🇧🇷
Like the way you cut those boards.gives me some good tips.
Real skill to cut straight boards
The remaining dry timber offcuts will be ideal to add to your firewood pile

I absolutely love your videos!! I’m truly surprised that Honda or Stihl or Husqvarna aren’t sponsoring you! ☮️💕
Honda and Stihl should but this saw is not Husqvarna.
Nice boards! I have been cutting boards the same way this summer! I find it way easier than the mill ! Boards are straighter too!
Not bad at all! I was thinking about making some 4" bridge timbers with my Stihl, but was worried it might be tough to go that thin. But 3/4? That is crazy. You have a steady hand with that saw, and came out with some quality boards. The wood shack will be deluxe with those planks!

Thats some fine work! Im gonna stick with my mill! I wish i had your skill
Great idea brother! It doesn’t need to be perfect in the Forrest! I think it will give character to whatever you’re building without a mill! Make 4x4’s or 6x6 for the rest and scraps for fire wood! If you have to cut them up for firewood down the road so be it!

God bless you too!

Very good man with chainsaw. I like it. God bless you :-)
You always look calm dan cool. Like your style...for that, i am waiting for more your activity in wild bro..
Pure skills. Nice work.
Nice piece of property!
I got a 1983 atc. Pulled a 2022 Honda rincon out of the woods last year lol.
Good stuff! Wanna trade?? Haha. Thanks for watching.
Nice job. 👍
Amazing precision. I am watching your latest video short after midnight here in southern Germany.... when I already wanted to hit the bed. First youtube video at my 58th birthday. I'll try to stays wild😉
Thanks for watching, my German friend! Always appreciate your comments. Happy birthday to you!! Hope you have a fantastic day! Take care.
That was excellent. I feel your pain. Everytime I do a project, there is something unexpected that needs fixed. Great boards, though. I'm eager to see how you use them.
nice job
Thanks!
I don't even have any woodland (yet) but I'd love to have a mill. Cutting freehand is cool but a mill is so accurate and quick
Excellent 👍
Great job on editing the video!
fantastic job
Nice skill!
Wow Thats really Impressive !!! You got Skills man !!
Great job, dude! I've never seen anyone do it like this.
My rope would've been shredded and gone if I was doing it that way 😆, great work Riley and definitely looking forward to your next video 🤙🤙🤙
It's easier than it looks haha. Thanks for watching!
Your videoa makes me want to go back to doing physical work instead of working in boring office :D
Can't wait for the next video lol wanna see this fire shed finished 😂
I signed on board my friend 👍👍💯
Always great content!
Your chainsaw skills are awesome but so are your chain sharpening skills are equally impressive for that saw to cut such straight boards! Lol ✌🏻🇨🇦
Nice cuts
very good skills!!!
Great job.
Always get as many boards to build with and store them!
Wow man
Your very good
super cuts!!!!
Kinda hard not to cut a straight line with a 4 foot bar. Lol nice job!
If you can keep it simple, keep it simple!
I definitely enjoy simplicity haha. Thanks for watching!
I am impressed - i tryed this one time but i didnt get it straight
this video was really impressive and the technique you used is super innovative! however, i wonder if cutting such long boards with a chainsaw might not be the best option for everyone. seems like it could lead to a lot of wasted material if not done carefully. what do you all think?
bleeping amazing!
A chainsaw wizard.
Hey man your doing awesome job cutting the boards
Dunno if you have seen the piece goes on your chain bar with a guide on how big cut your boards
I have one for cutting squares
I probably speed up your process quit a bit
Only like 50 bucks
I forget the name right now
Magic !!
Hey ... god job!
Yes, stay wild! 😄🤗
Muy habilidoso 👍
No mill?? I never considered this as a viable alternative. Yet you made it look easy (although admittedly, quite time consuming)

That wood cuts so much faster, seems butter, the engine is totally free
Not sure what the deal is with the fourtrax, they are tough as nails. Thinking bad gas.....Nice job cutting boards. Stay safe
I'm not sure either. As of right now it's running perfectly normal. Same gas too.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks !
a great way to get free lumber!
Honda put a compression release on the camshsft ,& i had trouble with that, instead of them putting a bigger starter. ,they put that damb camshaft compression release, you have to tear the whole top end off to fix it ,bummer !!!!!!

If the pioneers had chainsaws, they would have been you.
Imagine that they were doing the same thing but with a hand saw
