    In Canadian shelters animals are kept for some time until they are taken by a new owner. If they are not, they are as well killed, probably. In Russia, there are so many stray animals because people care about them. Babushkas or simply women give them food, and this is why there are so many of them, especially in the south.

    What a great video. As a born and raised Canadian, it is great getting the perspective of someone who has a different perspective of Canada because they see and notice things that we don't. Whenever I hear someone say that Canadians are so nice, I'm always saying to myself: "We are? Are you sure? Cuz that lady who just stole my parking spot at the mall didn't seem overly nice to me.". Hi I am living in the Acores now but I am a Canadian from Montreal and lived there for 64 years. Obviously I retired here on Sao Miguel Acores with my wife. Haven't been back home for three years. Don't miss the snow like you but I miss the different kinds of food in Canada. A Indian restaurant opened in Ponta del Gada recently and my wife and I were so excited. I was a policeman in Verdun so I did see the bad side of things in Montreal but I find in Europe people are so pessimistic. Even criminals were more optimistic in Canada. Your videos are very positive about Canada, so thank you. Also how is your French ca va bien mon amie . Au rejoin for now.

    This makes me realize how bound we are by our beliefs that we think are so absolute and yet, when we meet people in a different country, we realize that our NORMAL was never NORMAL for everyone. Its so great to see that you are constantly growing and open to inculcate these changes in your life. From what I can make of it, Canada seems to be a really nice country to reside in.

    Maple syrup is very popular in the Eastern Provinces but not as much in the Western ones like Manitoba. Some people like it on pancakes but we tend to put ketchup on sausages a lot. A bit of a corny Canadian stereotype but we don't have any other one either. Americans have apple pie and we have maple syrup.
    Washroom and bathroom are used equally in Canada as the room has a wash basin/sink and a bathtub and toilet. In Europe the toilet is in a small room.

    Hi Yulia,
    I found your channel yesterday and have been watching for hours. Keep it up! That said, here are a few tips and pointers for you (I know you didn't ask, but I feel these are small details which may help you):
    1. You say "export", but what you really mean to say is "import", because Canada imports a lot of products from other countries.
    2. Instead of saying "whatsoever", you might want to say "whatever". The word "whatsoever" has a different meaning, and so "whatever" would be a better word choice for the usage you're looking for.
    Thanks for your content!

    • @ThisisYulia

    • @dmarti47
      @dmarti47 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ThisisYulia Hey Yulia! So I researched a bit about this, because I couldn’t help myself (LOL), and apparently there is a difference between “whatever” and “whatsoever”.
      Here’s an example:
      "Whatever" is used as a noun equivalent to "no matter what". It's an important part of the sentence and cannot be deleted. "Whatsoever" is used as an adverb with sentences with negative meanings. It can be deleted. For example, "His parents gives him whatever he wants." And "His parents would never refuse his request (whatsoever)."
      Another example:
      “Whatever = You can do whatever you want.
      Whatsoever = There are no differences whatsoever.”
      Also found online:
      “Despite their sounding similar, they are actually used quite differently. I'm sure you've studied "whatever", and "whatsoever" basically means "at all", i.e. "no differences whatsoever", "no usage whatsoever", "no friends whatsoever". It just strengthens the previous negation.”

    Eating seasonal fruits and vegetables is very healthy. All these fruits and vegetables that are brought to Canada are, first, picked completely unripe, and second, they spend months in refrigerators, thus, they have no nutritional value. (well, maybe even poisonous)

    As far as groceries in Canada (and the US, for that matter) there are also Russian stores, more so as you would guess in the larger cities. Here, you can find tastes from your home. For example, they have Sorrel in glass jars, so you can make a sorrel soup. I think that you call it something else, green borsch maybe? And it's quite delicious, no matter what you call it. My wife likes to use kefir in place of buttermilk to make pancakes, we think that they taste MUCH better made with kefir. To that? You put on the maple syrup! I grew up along the US/Canadian border. Really? Not much difference between the two, but don't tell Canadians that! ;-) All the Best! 73 DE W8LV BILL

    i never thought of it much but ya, in canada we have washrooms and bathrooms and restrooms. Restrooms (though actually mean women's "washroom" with a rest area (feeding babies and what ever else women do in there (refuse to find out. i like keeping my face right where it is). Washrooms ya wash your hands/face (when we had a greyhound bus company, people did other things in a wash room (take a sponge bath, brush teeth, and so on)) and bathroom has a bath/shower in them. generally when out at restaurants movie theaters and so on, men and women, according to the book of manners its restrooms (men's/women's). funny. a little thing you never think of. oh and when out at a place that has bathroom attendants (hotels mostly) - it is custom to tip the attendants (some say 10% some say 15%; the question is 10% or 15% of what? Hint, look at tip jar if there is one, or look at the tip tray if there is 1, if not, I would say (and I could be wrong) $5.00 or $10.00 should be ok - could ask others. I would like to know what is best myself)

    I've been in ALBERTA for 20yrs now and I get really pissed at having to pay provincial sales tax in Ontario or BC. But all Canadians are just used to the ADDED tax. It's just the way it's always been done. But there's no tax on most food except at restaurants and convenience stores and some provinces exempt PST purchases for kids under 16. did you know.. "wierd fact" that if your from ALBERTA and you flash your ID in Washington even Hawaii most cashier's will not add their state tax. Also... I would be very hard now . When I was young it was possible to only speak English, you could still get a job but now it may not pay well. Many companies want you to be competent in both English and French. Montreal is fun and worth the effort, less expensive for this reason it attracts less people because they have to speak French. A very beautiful city though.

    9:15 You are strange. In Russia no one cares about strangers looks. This contradicts the main Russian stereotype that Russian are "closed" people. Or are you talking about your school experience? Some schools do have a dress code indeed.
    But in fact In Russia, you can die on the road and no one will even look at you. So Russian society is atomized and indifferent compared to others.

    • @ThisisYulia
      @ThisisYulia  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Moscow and Saint P do not represent the whole country. in these 2 cities nobody cares about others' looks, go to smaller cities, and then we'll talk 🤪 as for the " you can die on the road and no one will even look at you", that's the entire country's mindset, I should say

    Классное видео, смотрю тебя очень давно, но..
    Я не согласна с тобой в тех вещах, когда ты говоришь про Россию, например про бездомных животных это правда, но крашенные волосы уже давно не вызывают ажиотажа и даже интереса у жителей обычных городов, тем более у москвичей или питербуржцев, и когда ты сказала про то, что русские не улыбаются.. эх, это же такой бред, на мой взгляд. Просто распространение стереотипов. Возможно, я что-то не поняла (особенно в контексте того, что главная суть видео-это Канада и Россия тут не в тему) но все же! Спасибо за видео.

      пожалуйста! Москва, Питер и миллионники - не показатель. если приехать в маленькие города с зелёными волосами и татуировками, то люди не поймут. я 5 лет назад была в Красноярске с синими волосами, и получала оч много вопросов зачем и почему 😂

      @@ThisisYulia я из Архангельска, вообще не миллионник) много лет уже наблюдаю здесь молодежь и не только с волосами всех цветов: зеленые, фуксия, синие, розовые, а иногда вся радуга на одной голове) про самовыражение в одежде и через татуировки вообще нет смысла говорить, никто не парится, всем по барабану. Вы о чем?)) О животных... Ну тоже не могу согласиться. Много путешествую по России, везде вижу, как люди заботятся о бездомных животных. Помимо питомников, которые люди создают своими силами, многие просто обустраивают кошкам, собакам и птицам места для кормления, возят больных к ветеринарам, пристраивают. И у них многое получается. Русские улыбаются и веселятся, никому ничего не объясняя. Но с прибитой улыбкой в любой ситуации мало кто ходит ( и не только в России)). Вы, Юля, похоже, как многие уехавшие, никак не можете Россию отпустить. Наслаждайтесь жизнью, отмечайте плюсы и минусы других мест. Почему надо обязательно распространять ложь о стране, где Вы родились и выросли, чтобы показать, как тут все плохо? Не плохо ни разу и без Вас мы идем вперед))
